Mikhail Mendeler 38 of Ames was making a U Turn at that intersection adn sturkc a west bound vehicle operated by Karen L. Richards 46 of Madrid. No injuries were reported, damages were est. at $1,500.00 to Medeler's 1995 Toyota Corolla, and $2,500.00 to Richard's 2002 Ford Escort.. Mendeler was cited for failure to yield right of way.
9-01-07 4:41pm Sgt. Hurley responded to a complaint of a vehicle that upside down in a ditch in the 500 block of 290th. No one was around the vehicle, driver was being taken ot the Green County Hospital in Jefferson by a parent. Driver Matthew R. Kinney 17 of Rippey was west bound on gravel when he lost control and rolled into the north ditch. He received minor injuries and was treated at the Green County Hospital. Damages were est. at $1,500.00 to a 1995 Ford Thunderbird.

Zinnell 41 of Neveda lost control of his vehicle and rolled into the ditch. Zinnell was taken to the Boone County Hospital, passenger was air lifted to Mercy in Des Moines, that passenger was Deanna J. Davidson 36 of Ogden. Damages were est. at $3,500.00 to a 1991 Chevy Pick-up. Investigation continuing.
9-03-07 1:16am Deputy Wingate and Hoffman responded to a complaint of under age alcohol party at 766 216th Dr. Ogden. The following individuals were cited for under age possession of Alcohol. Logan Barrett 19 of Boone, Lindsey Barrett 17 of Boone, Abby Burns 17 of Boone, Megan Brugioni 14 of Boone, Eric Burt 17 of Ogden, Rachel Wicks 17 of Boone, Donovan Erickson 18 of Boone, Delaney Brakey 17 of Boone , Cassie Olson 17 of Boone, Hansen, Colvin ,Braland, and Wegener were not cited.
9-03-07 5:38pm Deputy Wingate investigated a two vehicle accident at Highway 30 and T Ave East of Boone. Joby J. Brogden 30 of Boone was west bound on Highway 30, while Scott F. Boone 33 of Webster City was south bound on T Ave attempting to enter highway 30 east bound and crossed the path of the West Bound vehicle, causing the collision at the intersection. Boone was taken by ambulance to the Boone County Hospital, no injuries were reported in the Brogden vehicle. Damages were est. at $8,000.00 to Brogden's 1999 Chevy, and $8,000.00 to Boone's 2006 Mercury Mariner.

9-03-07 10:14pm Polk County informed Boone County that they had arrested a Susan K. Pearson 41 of Des Moines on a Boone County warrant, for failure to appear, original charge of theft 5th, bond $550.00.
9-04-07 8:09pm Deputy Dominick investigated a car deer accident 2.5 miles North of Luther in the 1400 block of S Ave. Fred Willrich 63 of Boone struck a deer, causing $2,000.00 in damages to his 1998 Nisson. No injuries were reported.
9-04-07 9:53pm Deputy Hoffman investigated a horse vehicle accident on Highway 30 and 222nd Dr. Andrew W. Clemens 20 of Ogden was west bound when he struck a horse in traffic. Injured was a passenger Kathrine M. Coghlan 17 of Ames. She was taken to the Boone County Hospital by Ambulance. Owner of the horse Norman F. Manker of Ogden. Damages were est. at $2,000.00 to a 1992 Mercury Cougar.
9-05-07 12:56pm Sgt. Hurley responded to a complaint of a 4 wheeler stolen from a machine shed in the 2200 block of 240th. The investigation is continueing, the 4 wheeler is property of ISU and was on ISU Federal Property.
9-05-07 4:15pm Deputy Pontius responded to a complaint of vehicle roll-over 2.5 miles South of Highway 30 on County Rd R18. When arrived found two individuals trapped inside the vehicle. Also responding was Boone Ambulance and Ogden Fire. Ogden P.D. also responded and assisted with traffic control. Mercy Air was dispatched to the scene. Joseph J. Pebbles 80 of Fort Dodge air lifted from the scene. His wife Betty Lou Pebbles was pronounced dead at the scene, by the Boone County Medical Examiner. Pebbles was north bound on County Rd E18 when he apparently lost control and rolled his vehicle into the West ditch. Boone County Search and Rescue was called to the scene to assist with a possible third person who was in the vehicle. After searching and checking with family members that third person was located and not in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Mr. Pebbles had told officers that his daughter was with them at the time of the accident when in fact she was not. The vehicle he was operating was a 2002 Chrysler Concord.
9-05-07 6:21pm Sgt. Kendall responded to a complaint of a man walking along the roadway on Highway 30 near Seven Oaks. Deputy located the individual Jose F. Urrutia 52 of Denison, he was wanted on a warrant out of Shelby County for contempt of court, bond $418.00
9-06-07 12:08am Deputy Godzicki responded to Madrid to assist the Madrid Officer after he had ran a License plate indicating registered owner wanted out of Powesheik County and could be armed and dangerous. Vehicle was stopped and individual taken into custody By Madrid for Powesheik County.
9-06-07 7:31am Sgt. Hurley investigated a single vehicle roll-over 1.5 miles East of Boone on R Ave. Adrianne C. Meier 15 of Boone was south bound when she lost control on the gravel and rolled her vehicle into the ditch. Minor Injuries were reported, Not transported to the Hospital. The vehicle a 2001 Ford Taurus received $4,000.00 in damages. Citation for failure to maintain control.

9-06-07 10:33pm Deputies Thompson and Godzicki responded to Highway 30 near the Speedway in Boone. After the Speedway had been struck by lightning and the power was out in the area, traffic control was needed. Deputies assisted with that traffic controll along with Boone P.D. Officers.

Hastings 67 of Jefferson was pulling a trailer and the trailer flipped onto its side. No damages to the Pick-up, although $5,000.00 in damages to a Trailer, no injuries were reported.

Johnson 54 of Perry was south bound on D ave and attempted to pass a dirt bike operated by Cole Mayhush 11 of Perry, Mayhush at the same time was making an unsignaled left hand turne and was struck by the Motorcycle. both drivers received injuries and were taken by Ambulances to the Dallas County Hospital and later transported to Methodist in Des Moines. Damages were est. at $5,000.00 to Johnson's 1995 Harley and $600.00 to Mayhush's 1995 Honda Dirt Bike. Investigation continuing.

9-12-07 7:50am Sgt. Hurley responded to a complaint by Carmie Sills that someone had attempted to steal her car stereo from her parked car in the 6100 block of West Lincoln way Ames, Lot 43. Drivers side window on her vehicle had been broken and stereo had been tampered with but was not removed.
9-12-07 11:00am Daniel E. Bonorden of Ames reported that his vehicle had been vandalized while parked at the Boone Speedway on September 8th. He est. his damages at $1,300.00. Someone had keyed his vehicle, vehicle a 2005 Dodge Dakota.

McGriff 34 of Minburn was south bound on G Ave, McGriff failed to stop and struck an east bound vehicle operated by Chloe Allyn 16 of Perry.Allyn and her passenger Noah Allyn 14 of Perry were both taken ot the Dallas County Hospital by their parent. Bernard McGriff 34 was arrested for driving while license revoked and failure to yield right of way. Dmages were est.at $3,000.00 to McGriff's 2005 Dodge Pick-up and $5,000.00 to Allyn's 2003 Nisson.
9-12-07 5:45pm Deputy Pontius investigated a three vehicle accident at Highway 17 and 315th, north of Madrid. Brandy Joe Thomason 28 of Boone was north bound and slowing to turn off Highway 17, another north bound vehicle directly behind him operated by Jeremy L. Davis 26 of Graettinger also slowed for the Thomason vehicle, a third vehicle north bound behind Davis was operated by Robert Nost 43 of Boone, did not slow and struck the Davis vehicle and then struck the Thomason vehicle. No injuries were reported, damages were est. at $1,000.00 to Nost's 2000 Buick Century, $800.00 to Thomason's 2004 Pontiac Sunbird, and $500.00 to Davis' 2000 Chrysler. Nost was cited fro Failure to stop within assured clear distance.
9-13-07 4:32am Deputy Wingate made a traffic stop in the 700 block of Highway 30 near Ogden. Driver Roger Gulling 38 of Des Moines,was wanted on warrants out of Dallas and Polk County. Dallas County picked up the prisoner on their warrant first, bond $300.00 for theft 5th degree.
9-13-07 3:11pm Deputy Godzicki responded to a complaint of a dog bite that tool place at 2311 Story St, Boone. Bitten was Matthew Chappell of Boscobel Wisconsin, dog owner James Robinson, dog was quarantined. Dog bite was very minor.

Walker 29 of Ames on their warrant, failure to appear, bond $6,500.00. Driver of the vehicle was charged with operating with no drivers license he was Donald R. Williams 30 of Houston Texas, vehicle was towed.

9-14-07 12:03pm Chief Deputy Elsberry investigated a two vehicle accident at 340th and I Ave. Merle Shawd 61 of Woodward was south bound on I Ave, operating a Woodward-Granger School Van when he struck an east bound Semi operated by Joseph A. Keane 48 of Defiance Iowa, Shawd was the only person in the School Van and was taken to the Dallas County Hospital for his injuries. Damages were est. at $15,000.00 to the School Kia Van, and $10,000.00 to Keane's 1995 Ford Semi and trailer.

9-14-07 3:36pm Jennifer Wofford of Boone reported that a friend had been taking care of her two Miniature pinchers in the 900 block of 222nd St. Ogden. When she went to check on them they are gone, she has reported them as missing or stolen, they are described as purebred Miniature pinchers on adult female the other a 3 month old pup. Value est. at $250.00 each.

Brady 24 of Des Moines was south bound on X , when she failed to yield right of way to a west bound vehicle operated by David R. DePew 39 of Des Moines. DePew was air lifted to a Iowa Methodist in Des Moines, view was obstructed by standing corn. Damages were est. at $6,000.00 to Brady's 2000 Jeep, and $18,000.00 to DePEW'S 2007 Chevy.
9-16-07 4:50pm Union Pacific Railroad employee's called to report that trains had been tampered with at Quartz and 210th, someone had removed pins from the cars parked in that area, it was then discovered that pins had also been removed from parked cars sitting across Story St, in Boone.

9-18-07 10:07am Sgt. Hurley investigated a complaint from residents in the 1900 block of 130th, Boone. A man using the name of Ed Cooper claimed to be working for a lightning rod company out of Missouri, he placed Lightning rods on this property and charged $3,800.00. After checking with the company in Missouri that does exist they do not employ anyone by that name, and that is price is way out of line. The Check was able to be stopped before it was cashed. Anyone with similar dealings are asked to contact your local Law Enforcement. Sgt. Hurley located Ed Cooper on 9/19/07 as a passenger in a 2005 Dodge, the driver of the vehicle Shane D. Imbler 19 of Ankeny Iowa was cited for operating a vehicle with expired registration. No other charges filed at this time as no money had been transacted. Cooper is from Texas and both told to leave the area

D.O.T. also called to inspect bridge. Driver of the vehicle Louis Stein 63 of Blue Island Illinois, no one was injured. Investigation continuing.
9-23-07 6:07pm Deputy Pontius investigated single motorcycle accident 2 miles NW of Woodward on L Ave. Harry J. Vignovich 53 of Madrid was south bound when he failed to negotiate a curve lost control and rolled into the southwest ditch. No injuries were reported, Vignovich was cited for failure to maintain control, no insurance, and operating without a motorcycle license. Damages to a 1999 Home made special motorcycle received $1,000.00 in damages.
9-24-07 8:00am Sgt. Hurley responded to a single vehicle accident at L Ave and Highway 30. Stephen M. Grell 32 of Fort Dodge was east bound on 30 pulling a 2 axle trailer that was loaded, as the unit came down the hill toward L Ave the trailer began to sway and went out of control and rolled into the SE ditch at the intersection of L and Highway 30. Driver was not injured, passenger Brandon Feeley 26 of Fort Dodge was taken by ambulance to the Boone County Hospital for treatment. Damages were est. at $9,500.00 to a 2001 Ford F250. Also $200.00 in damages to a State D.O.T. Sign and post.
9-24-07 2:03pm Sheriff Fehr and Emergency Manager Dave Morlan assisted a woman that had fallen off the steps at the Law Enforcement Center. The 71 year old woman was leaving the Center when she tripped on the last step of the entry area, she was taken by Ambulance to the Boone County Hospital for treatment.
9-24-07 9:02pm Deputy Godzicki investigated a car deer accident 5 miles SW of Boone in the 1300 block of L Ave. Scott S. Safly 44 of Ames was north bound when he struck a deer, causing $2,000.00 in damages to his 2003 Chevy. No injuries were reported.
DCI Test results came back on a Mark Zinnel 41 of Neveda Iowa. Zinnell was involved in personal injury accident on Sept 2nd 2007 in the 900 block of L Ave, Boone. Zinnel will be charged with O.W.I.
9-26-07 2:45pm Deputy Pontius responded to the Boone Humane Society on a complaint of an Individual who had become upset about a citation that was being issued for a dog running at large complaint in the City of Boone.
9-26-07 5:50pm Deputy Godzicki investigated a two vehicle accident 1/2 mile north of Madrid on Highway 17. Eileen F. Hawkins 16 of Boone was north bound when she struck the rear of another north bound vehicle that had stopped to turn left, that vehicle was operated by Teresa Huffstutler 46 of Madrid. Injured were both drivers and 2 passengers in the Huffstutler vehicle, they were Amy Huffstutler 8 of Madrid and Kaylee Simons no other information at this time. Damages were est. at $2,500.00 to Hawkin's 2003 Dodge Ram, and $8,000.00 to Huffstutler's 2002 Dodge Caravan. Hawkins was cited for failure to stop within assured clear distance.
9-27-07 5:02am Deputy Wingate responded to a complaint of a trespasser on railroad property at 8th and Argo, individual was located and arrested for simple trespassing. Arrested was Larkin W. Baker 38 of Tempe Arizona.
9-27-07 12:00pm Deputy Pontius investigated a two vehicle accident 1.5 miles South of Boone at highway 30 and Montana Rd. Justin M. Lestina 18 of Ogden was west bound on Highway 30 attempting to make a right turn, north onto Montana making a wide turn and struck a vehicle operated by Corey J. Iben 28 of Perry who was stopped waiting to enter Highway 30. No injuries were reported, damages were est. at $1,000.00 to Lestina'a 1995 Escort, and $1,000.00 to a 2007 Ford Explorer operated by Iben. Lestina was cited for failure to maintain control.

9-28-07 2:38pm Deputy Pontius responded to the Ledges State Park with a Park Officer to start a search for a missing female who had been missing from her group for over 2 hours. Woman was found within a short period of time and O.K.
9-28-07 5:50pm Deputy Pontius responded to Peony Lane south of Boone, on a complaint of an elderly woman who had been walking and fell at the end of the roadway, believed her ankle was broken, Boone Ambulance responded.
