9-02-06 12:03am Deputy Pontius made a traffic stop in the 100 block of West 9th, Boone, driver David Howell 44 of Grimes was arrested for driving while license suspended.
9-02-06 1:16am Deputy Pontius made a traffic stop on Highway 30 near 222nd Drive, driver was charged with speeding 84 in a 65 and driving while license suspended. Driver was Richard Wemark 35 of Ridgeway Iowa.
9-02-06 5:20am Deputy Elsberry assisted an ambulance and Pilot Mound first responders with a medical call to 102 Carlson St, Pilot Mound.
9-02-06 6:45am Deputy Naeve investigated a single vehicle accident on Montana Rd and Montana Lane. Christopher R. Merriam 16 of Boone was south bound when a deer ran out onto the roadway into his path, Merriam swerved and struck a mail box and went into the ditch, causing $2,000.00 in damages to his 1999 Dodge Ram pick-up, no injuries were reported.
9-02-06 8:13am Greene County called to have Boone County pick-up a prisoner that they had arrested on a Boone County Warrant, transported back to the Boone County Jail was Amy L. Priest 40 of Rippey, bond $250.00 for original charge of fraud insufficient funds on checks.
9-02-06 3:44pm Deputy Ellison filed charges to arrest a Thomas L. Pogue 23 of Ogden for Harassment of Jarad Collins also of Ogden.
9-04-06 6:39am Sgt Hurley assisted a stalled motorist who was out of gas and discovered that he was intoxicated, Matthew C. Booth 35 of Boone was arrested for Public Intoxication. Arrest took place at 250th and Quill, Boone.
9-04-06 7:40pm Rodney Graves reported the theft of a chain saw from his garage in the 1600 block of 240th, Boone. Deputy Pontius responded, investigation continuing.
9-05-06 6:42pm Deputy Rohden responded to a complaint of the anhydrous ammonia tanks were leaking at the Boxholm elevator in Boxholm. Elevator employee responded to tighten valve on tank.
9-06-06 10:52am Sgt Hurley arrested a Scott Landals 50 of Boone on a Boone County warrant for 2 counts of simple assualt and trespassing, bond $1,000.00.
9-06-06 12:21pm Sgt Hurley responded to a complaint of cattle running loose on highway 30 east of Montana. Owner Rich Wilson arrived and rounded up the cattle.
9-06-06 11:41pm Deputy Middleton assisted a motorist who had ran out of gas in the 1400 block of C Ave, Ogden.
On Saturday Sept. 16th there will be a flag dedication ceremony in front of the Law Enforcement Center in West Boone. A new flag pole and monument will be placed on the south side of the center in Memory of Dan Sesker and Brandy Fehr. Dan Sesker was killed in Iraq in April of this year serving with U.S. Forces, Brandy Fehr was killed in Wyoming also in April while on Active Duty, she was struck by a drunk driver in Colorado. Members from the Iowa National Guard and and F.E. Warren Air Base in Wyoming will be present for the ceremony. The time will be 10:00am. All expenses in getting the flag pole and monument plus installation came from memorial funds or was donated.
9-07-06 2:29pm Deputy Dominick assisted the Dept of Human Services in the removal of 5 children from a residence in the 900 block of 222nd Street, Ogden. ages ranging 12 years to one week old. DHS is continuing investigation.
9-07-06 2:30pm Deputy Rohden investigated a two vehicle accident at E26 and Highway 169, 4 miles South of Boxholm. Laverne B. Lingren 71 of Ogden struck a west bound vehicle operated by Jim Dykes 37 of Dana. Dykes pulled out in front of the Lingren vehicle from a stop sign. Both Lingren and Dykes received minor injuries. Damages were est. at $5,000.00 to Lingren's 1974 Ford Grain truck and $3,000.00 to Dyke's 1985 Ford Ranger. D.O.T. and State Patrol responded, along with Ogden Fire and first responders.
9-07-06 2:42pm Sheriff Fehr arrested a Raechel A. Mesenbrink 24 of Ames on a Boone County Warrant for probation revocation, bond $10,000.00. Arrest was made at the Sheriff's Office as Raechel turned herself in.
9-08-06 9:30pm Deputy Pontius investigated a car deer accident 3 miles NW of Fraser on Juniper Rd. David W. Andrew 46 of Maxwell Iowa was south bound when a deer ran out in front of him causing to veer to the right and loose control and roll his vehicle into the ditch. No Injuries were reported, damages were est. at $10,000.00 to his 2004 Ford Ranger.
9-09-06 9:39am Sgt Hurley responded to a complaint of a sign on the roadway at 280th and X Ave Boone. Sign was removed by Deputy, and County Rd Department notified.
9-09-06 3:40pm Deputy Dominick responded to a hit and run complaint south of the Boone Speedway. Cahd Ritter 31 of Fairbolt Minnesota reported that his 1999 Chevy was struck while parked and received $1,000.00 in damages. No injuries were reported.
9-09-06 7:34pm Deputy Dominick made atraffic stop after a complaint from another motorist reporting that the vehicle was full of kids throwing objects from the car windows, stop was made on Highway 30 near Story St. All kids were from the Fort Dodge and Duncombe area and checked out O.K.
9-09-06 11:17pm Deputy Pontius responded to a complaint that there were drag racers preparing to race in the 2300 block of 190th. Deputy found no one in the area.
9-10-06 1:26pm Sgt Hurley responded to a complaint of a vehicle that had lost control and slid into the ditch in the 2200 block of D Ave. Driver was Erica Johnson 35 of Ogden, she hydroplaned on the wet surface and went into the ditch received only minor damages to her 2002 Chevy and no injuries were reported.
9-10-06 10:18pm Deputy Pontius responded to a complaint of a house fire at 832 200th St, Ogden. Ogden Fire and Boone Ambulance also responded and emergency management. Turned out not to be a house fire but an explosion. Possible cause of explosion is propane line leak. 3 people were in the home at the time of the explosion and no one was injured. House belongs to Scot Foster of that address. Red Cross was called to assist family. Damaged was contained to the basement where one wall was blew out, and moved the house off the foundation.
9-11-06 10:05am Sgt Hurley responded to the Boxholm Schools in Boxholm on a complain that a parent dropped off a child who refused to go to school and fled on foot from the area. Child a 5th grader was located and parents removed the child and took home.
9-11-06 6:08pm A motorist from Boone reported that a white Taurus had gone around her at a high rate of speed on the right side of her vehicle while west bound on highway 30 and then returned to left in front of her cutting her off, she then went onto highway 17 where the white Taurus was stopped and white male stepped out of the vehicle and flashed a badge at her claiming to be an officer and told her that a ticket would be coming in the mail. Anyone with information about this vehicle and white male is asked to contact the the Boone County Sheriff's Office. Impersonating an Officer is a serious offense.
9-11-06 7:11pm Deputy Elsberry responded to a complaint by Duane Bunning that someone had entered his home in the 1500 block of X Ave and stole his Dish Network receiver, value est. at $100.00.
9-12-06 6:33am Sgt Hurley investigated a single vehicle accident 1.5 miles East of Woodward on 334th Rd and O Ave. Donna L. Murray 53 of Perry was east bound on 334th when she lost control and went off the roadway and drove across a driveway just missed a utility pole and struck a tree on private property. She was trasnported to the Dallas County Hospital for medical reasons unrelated to the accident, this condition caused her to be disoriented. Damages were est. at $2,000.00 to her 1998 Ford Taurus.
9-12-06 9:29pm Deputy Elsberry investigated a pick-up deer accident on Quill Ave south of highway 30. Robby D. Tilley 41 of Boone struck a deer causing minor damages to his 1988 Toyota, no injuries were reported.
9-13-06 5:42pm Deputy Rohden responded to a complaint by John Pickell 54 of Rural Madrid that overnight someone had keyed his vehicle causing damages to a 1997 Chevrolet pick-up.
9-13-06 7:25pm Deputy Pontius responded to a complaint by John Morris 54 of Ames that he had boated down the Des Moines River from the Hubby Bridge area and when returned found that his trailer and windshield of his pickup had been damaged. Damages est. at over $500.00.
9-14-06 12:25am Deputy Pontius assisted the Boone Police with a complaint of someone shooting paint balls in Boone. Deputy Pontius located the suspect vehicle and stopped in the 900 block of West 7th. Driver David Holms 17 of Boone charged with Reckless driving and curfew violation, a passenger Kyle Walker 17 of Boone also charged with curfew violation. Another passenger Cale Hennings 18 of Boone was arrested for criminal mischief and shooting a projectile.
9-14-06 7:23am Deputy Rohden responded to a domestic situation in the 2300 block of L Ave, Husband decided to leave the residence for the night, was a verbal altercation, no arrests made.
9-14-06 9:00am Sheriff Fehr Executed a writ of ejectment at 1416 Crawford St, Boone. Marijuana was located and charges filed on Debra Lorenzen 47 was charged with possession of marijuana 2nd Offense . Ejectment was completed at 12:30pm.
9-14-06 6:01pm Deputy Pontius investigated a single vehicle accident 2.5 miles NE of Woodward on Magnolia Rd and 315th. Gabriel T. Semonis 29 of Mitchellville Iowa was north bound on Magnolia Rd when he failed to negotiate a curve by 315th and drove off the roadway and went into the ditch. Semonis was transported by Boone Ambulance to Mercy in Des Moines. Damages were est. $7,500.00 to his 2005 Yamaha Motorcycle.
9-14-06 10:54pm Deputy Pontius responded to a Domestic situation at 1207 J Ave, Ogden. Arrested for Domestic abuse was David L. Larimore 48 of that address.
9-15-06 10:28am Sgt Hurley responded to a car fire at Highway 30 and 17 west bound lanes. 1982 Oldsmobile owned by Geraldine Hand and operated by Eldon Hand caught on fire and was a total loss. Boone fire and Ambulance responded. No injuries were reported. Hands are from Ames.
9-15-06 11:45am Sgt Hurley stood by at a residence in the 1200 block of J Ave to keep the peace while property was removed with a civil order.
9-15-06 5:50pm Report of graffiti painted on a bridge in the 300 block of 335th Perry. Individual living in the area witnessed a older white Pick-up with 2 young white males inside with Dallas County plates. Any further information please contact the Sheriff's Office.
9-15-06 10:43pm Deputy Pontius responded to a complaint of a male laying on the ground at Miles Lee park and not moving. Boone P.D. also responded along with Boone Ambulance. Male individual was intoxicated and arrested for Public Intoxication. Arrested was Jason M. Carney 27 of Boone.
9-16-06 7:35am Sgt Hurley responded to a complaint of a vehicle in the ditch at E18 and Highway 17. No one around vehicle. After further investigation Sgt Hurley found out that the accident took place at around 3:30am, Driver was Gary L. Venner 43 of Williams Iowa, he stated that he was east bound when he fell asleep and drove off road into steep ravine. No injuries were reported, damages were est. at $1,000.00 to his 1991 Pontiac Sunbird. He was cited for failure to maintain control.
9-17-06 2:24am Deputy Middleton responded to a 911 hang up call from Monsanto, business was checked out and doors checked along with vehicles observed outside, manager was called and everything appears to be O.K.
9-18-06 5:04pm Deputy Rohden responded to a complaint of a home broken into in the 1600 block of X Ave Ames. Wallace Wright reported that he had been on vacation since Aug 29th and found that his home had been broken into. Break in occurred sometime since Sept 13th through this date, Jewelry and money was reported stolen investigation continuing.
9-19-06 2:44pm Deputy Moore and Godzicki had been present to testify in Court at the Boone County District Court room and waiting outside after testimony when they were informed by the Courts and Assistant County Attorney that the drug evidence was left unattended in the court room, The evidence was 20 small baggies of marijuana and scale that someone had taken while the Judge and attorneys had left the Court Room for a short period of time. The trail was a case against Kerry Inman 49 of Boone. The only people in and out of the Court room at the time was the defendant and his friends, Investigation continuing with Boone P.D.
9-20-06 11:42pm Deputy Pontius assisted Madrid with a domestic situation were the male had left the premises in the 100 block of East 9th Street.
9-21-06 4:00pm Deputy Kendall responded to a complaint that there was suspicious vehicle parked on a farm place in the 1100 block of T Ave, everything checked out O.K.
9-22-06 8:00am Sgt. Hurley investigated a pick-up deer accident 5 miles North of Boone on P Ave. James Anderson 43 of Stanhope struck a deer causing $1,800.00 in damages to his 2005 Ford F150. No injuries were reported.
9-22-06 8:42am Sgt Hurley responded to a complaint of mailbox vandalism to several mailboxes in the 1900 block of 195th. Damages to 1952, 1906, 1952, 1961, and 2136. Appears to have been a truck or SUV that pushed the mail boxes over.
9-23-06 11:36am Deputy Godzicki investigated a single vehicle accident 3 miles East of Boone on Highway 30. Steven J. Shipp 46 of Greene Iowa was east bound pulling a car trailer with a pick-upon the trailer. The trailer started to sway uncontrollably until he lost control and the and went into the ditch. No injuries were reported. Damages were est. at $1,500.00 to a 1994 Ford F150 that he was using to pull the trailer. And $350.00 to a the pick-up on the trailer a 1949 pick-up truck.
9-23-06 9:23pm Deputy Middleton responded to a complaint of house fire south of 170th near Kale Rd, Turned out to be brush fire that had not been called. Ogden fire did respond.
9-23-06 11:06pm Deputy Middleton began an investigation of a single vehicle accident. Driver Jennifer Winkler 32 of Story City was east bound on County Rd E18 when a dog ran out in front of her causing her to swerve and hit a guardrail. Airbags were deployed. Minor injuries were reported to driver and 3 passengers. Passengers were ages 10,15, and 18.
9-24-06 8:42am Sgt Hurley responded to a complaint by Douglas Dudley of Rural Boone. Dudley had 4 tires slashed overnight on his vehicle parked at his residence.
9-25-06 1:21am The Woodward Academy called to say that they had a client runaway from their facility. The 16 year old from Missouri was located and returned by 4:00am.
9-25-06 12:39pm Deputy Dominick responded to a complaint of dogs running at large in the city of Beaver. Owners of the dogs were spoken to and dogs were rounded up.
9-26-06 11:14am Cheif Deputy Mitchell responded to Marshall County to pick-up a prisoner Tyson Harris who was arrested in Marshalltown on a Boone County Warrant for probation revocation, bond $50,000.
9-26-06 1:30pm Deputy Dominick investigated a single vehicle accident 1 mile East of Woodward in the 1200 block of 334th. Michael Neal 43 of Nevada was east bound when he struck a deer on his motorcycle. Neal was injured and transported to the Dallas County Hospital for treatment. Neal's 2005 Kawasaki received $700.00 in damages.
9-26-06 4:00pm Mary Poling spoke to Sheriff Fehr on an incident that took place on her property last week. A lightning rod salesman had come to her door on her farm in the Northeastern part of Boone County and sold her over $800.00 worth of lightning rods which she paid for on that same date. Now she believes she over paid for that service and has no way of contacting the salesman also he left all his scrape and junk for her to get rid of. A warning for residence to make special care in making any kind of purchase by door to door or even the phone. Check out individuals and get phone numbers and addresses. The Sheriff's Office will look into this further.
9-26-06 5:40pm Mark Haase 20 of Boone was transported back from Pottawattamie County as he was arrested there on a Boone County warrant for probation revocation, bond $600.00.
9-27-06 2:40pm Deputy Dominick made a traffic stop in Ogden on 1st and Locust and arrested the driver of the vehicle for driving while license suspended and rail road crossing violation. Charged was Mike Nordstrom40 of Urbandale Iowa.
9-27-06 3:04pm Deputy Dominick investigated a two vehicle accident 1.5 miles North of Napier at X Ave and 240th. Mildred Cooper 88 of Ames was west bound when she failed to yield the right of way and was struck by a south bound vehicle at the intersection operated by David Nixon 54 of Woodward. No injuries were reported, damages were est. at $6,000.00 to Cooper's 2002 Ford, and $14,000.00 to Nixon's 1999 Chevy Pick-up. Cooper was cited for for failure to yield right of way.
9-29-06 4:11pm Deputy Rohden while serving civil papers arrested a Jean Blair 43 of Boone at 312 2nd St, Apt 2 on a warrant out of Grundy County for theft 4th, Bond $1,950.00.
9-29-06 9:52pm Deputy Middleton responded to an ambulance assist in the 1900 block of 180th, Boone.
9-30-06 10:54am Deputy Godzicki responded to a single vehicle accident at Highway 30 and T Ave. Vehicle operated by Ricky Thompson 45 of Ames struck a utility pole and was trapped in the vehicle. Boone Fire and Ambulance responded. State Patrol will complete report.
9-30-06 7:09pm Deputy Elsberry and Ogden P.D. responded to a complaint of a car fire at 210th and P70. Driver of vehicle Thomas Pogue 23 of Ogden was arrested for O.W.I. and driving while License revoked, he also was charged with child endangerment as he had a 7 year old child in the vehicle when he had the accident that started the car on fire.. The vehicle a 1997 mercury received damages. While being processed in the jail marijuana was found in the possession of Pogue and additional charges of possession of marijuana where filed. Ogden fire and first responders were on scene.
9-30-06 8:00pm Deputy Rohden and the Iowa State Patrol and Hamilton County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a single motorcycle accident north of Boone 7.5 miles on Nature Rd. Driver was Jerry M. Walters 46 of Boone. Walters was south bound on Nature Rd when he drove off the roadway on a curve and struck a field driveway. Walters was air lifeted from the scene to a Des Moiens Hospital. Damages were est. at $5,000.00 to his 1991 Harley Davidson Motorcyle.
9-30-06 11:12pm Deputy Middleton responded to a car deer accident on highway 30 near the Lincoln home park area east of Madrid. Sarah L. Dorman 27 of Carroll struck a deer causing minor damages to her 2005 Pontiac, no injuries were reported.
