9-01-05        7:38am  Deputy Elsberry investigated a two vehicle accident 3 miles North of Ames on Y Ave. Madelyn M. Houser 16 of Ames was south bound on Y when she ran into the back of another south bound vehicle that was stopped for a third non contact vehicle that was turning right and also south bound. The vehicle struck in the rear by Houser was operated by Christopher G. Zeitler 30 of Ames. No injuries were reported, damages were est at $2,500.00 to Houser's 1995 Taurus, and $2,000.00 to Zeitler's 1995 Chevy Pick-up.

9-01-05        9:00am Sheriff Fehr executed a writ of ejectment at 1005 1/2 story Apt 5. Process was completed by Noon.

9-02-05        2:14pm  Sgt Hurley while serving civil papers was contacted by a Boone Public Works employee who said that there was man laying on the ground across from Specifications Chemicals near the Old Caboose Park at 9th and Keeler. individual David S. Massar 47 of Des Moines was arrested for public intoxication.

9-03-05        1:33pm  Sgt Hurley investigated a single vehicle accident 2 miles East of Boone on highway 30.  Driver Raymond Gandayuwana 20 of Ames was east bound when he lost control and drove into the south shoulder then overcorrected and drove into the median and struck embankment and deployed airbag. No injuries were reported.  Damages were est at $4,000.00 to his 2005 Toyota Matrix.

9-04-05        12:35am  Deputy Pontius made a traffic stop and arrested driver Karen K. Burkhart 42 of Madrid for O.W.I. 1st Offense, traffic stop was made 300 block of 6th St, Madrid.

9-04-05        4:25am  Deputy Middleton responded to an alarm sounding at Van Wall Equipment in the 1800 block of 330th, Madrid. was a false alarm.

9-04-05        8:15am  Sgt Hurley responded to complaint of a vehicle in the ditch at 110th and highway 169. No damages to the vehicle and driver was arrested for O.W.I. Driver Scott M. Rogers 24 of Fort Dodge was arrested for O.W.I. 2nd Offense.

9-04-05        11:56am  Sgt Hurley responded to the Des Moines River area south of the Kate Shelley High Bridge, there was a 911 call from a group of canoe's and one person was in need of medical assistance,  search and rescue were called along with a Boone Ambulance.  After the individual was located, he refused medical treatment.

9-04-05        2:30pm  Sgt Hurley responded to a complaint that a curve ahead sign had been knocked over in the 900 block of L Ave, Boone, road dept. notified.

9-04-05        3:10pm  Deputy Rohden investigated a two vehicle accident 2.5 miles East of Boone on Highway 17.  Tyler J. Millard 21 of Alta Iowa was south bound on 17 when a second vehicle operated by Helen L. Beal 93 of Boone was east bound on old 30 stopped at stop and then proceeded without seeing the south bound vehicle and collided at the intersection. No one was injured, damages were est $1.500.00 to Millard's 2001 Pontiac, and $500.00 to Beal's 1994 Buick.

9-05-05        5:56am  Sgt Hurley assisted a stalled motorist with a flat tire on Highway 30 and T Ave.

9-05-05        1:08pm  Sgt Hurley responded to a an alarm sounding at the Boys and Girls Home East Door, turned out to be a false alarm, building was secure.

9-05-05        6:25pm  Deputy Elsberry responded to a complaint that there was a 4 wheeler driving on the Corp property on the highway 30 boat ramp area. When Deputy arrived he was unable to locate the 4 wheeler.

9-05-05        8:26pm  Deputy Elsberry responded to a complaint by John Kinyon of 1862 200th St, Boone, that his dirt bike is missing from his garage, not sure how long it has been gone. Bike is a 50 R Honda Red and White in color, 3 speed automatic.

9-06-05        8:27am  Tad D. Walker 38 of Johnston Iowa turned himself into the Boone County Jail on a Boone County Warrant, Warrant was for failure to appear on drug charges, bond $35,000.00.

9-06-05        10:06am  Deputy Elsberry responded to a complaint of campers that had collided in a camp ground just south of the speedway at Boone.  Peter A. Steele 47 of Glendale Arizona backed into a comper owned by Lewis Henderson 61 of Boone, minor damages and no injuries were reported.

9-06-05        1:32pm  Deputy Elsberry responded to a complaint of an accident on highway 17 near Monsanto's driveway.  There was no accident, One driver Eugene Norgart 26 of Jefferson was cited for failure to yield on left turn, and no insurance.

9-06-05        2:36pm  Ames P.D. had arrested a Phillip M. Patten 43 of Boone on a Boone County warrant for termination of pretrial release, bond $7,500.00.

9-06-05        2:27pm  Deputy Rohden began an investigation of the theft of a pole saw and chain saw from a shed owned by Roger Koch of Rural Boone. 

9-06-05        10:00pm  Sgt Moore arrested a Tanya M. Helmrichs 25 of Boone for delivery of meth, 2 counts, bond $50,000.00.

9-07-05        1:11pm Sgt Moore arrested a Curtis D. Risdal 25 of Boone for violation of a no contact order, and also for a warrant contempt of court, original charge domestic assualt.  Also charged with violation of a no contact order Jennifer R. Kroll 21 of Boone.

9-07-05        2:57pm Deputy Rohden responded to a complaint of a barking dog at 965 222nd Ogden, Mobile Home Park east of Ogden on 30.

9-09-05        3:11am  Deputy Pontius responded to a barn fire at 817 Leaf Rd, Boone.  Ogden Fie responded and Midland power was dispatched. Barn was fully engulfed. Owner Mrs. James Prine. No one was injured.

9-09-05        12:30pm  Curt Erickson of Lincoln Homes in the 900 block of 222nd Ogden, reported that someone had stolen items from hi office, payroll checks, cell phone and paperwork was reported stolen. Investigation continuing.

9-10-05        12:28am  Deputy Middleton began an investigation of a vehicle that was in the ditch in the 800 block o f I Ave. Ogden.  No driver around, after further investigation the owner of the vehicle Andrew Pepples  16 of Boone. reported the vehicle stolen.  He said that he had stayed at a friends overnight, and someone took his vehicle. Damages were est at $2,000.00 to a 1998 Chevy S10 Pick-up.

9-10-05        6:28pm  Deputy Dominick arrested a Nicholas H. Laverne 20 of Boone, on a Hamilton County Warrant

9-10-05        5:47pm  Deputy Ellison investigated a single vehicle accident 2/10th of a mile South of Luther on Highway 17.  Driver Ann M. Meyer 40 of Fort Dodge was south bound attempting to pass two vehicles, when the middle vehcile also came out into the passing lane as Meyer approached, causing her to cut accorss the roadway and hit the gravel on the roadside and go into the west ditch. Damages were est at $36,000.00 to to her 2005 Volvo. No injuries were reported. No information on the second vehicle.

9-10-05        6:56pm  Deputy Ellison investigated single vehicle accident north of Perry in the 200 block of 320th. Alex Wright 18 of Perry was south bound negotiating a curve to the west when he lost control and went into the ditch, causing $3,000.00 in damages to his 1994 Blazer. Injured was the Driver Alex Wright and passengers Tyler Richmond and Casey Sheehy both of Perry. Taken to the Dallas County Hospital by private vehicle.

9-11-05        1:58pm  Deputy Rohden investigated a single vehicle accident at the Don Williams Park.  Driver Trevor Blunk 15 of Boone was driving on a learners permit with his father as a passenger. Blunk then lost control on the gravel and went into a ditch, causing damages, but no one was injured.

9-11-05        9:37pm  Deputy Middleton responded to a vehicle that rolled into a ditch in the 1600 block of P Ave, Boone.  Kirk P. Kelly 18 of Lehigh Iowa was east bound on E18 and fell asleep left the roadway and traveled 267 feet in the ditch and vaulted back onto the pavement and landed on the vehicle drivers side down.  No injuries were reported. Damages were est at $4,000.00 to a 1995 Chevy.

9-14-05        3:25am  Deputy Dominick responded to an alarm sounding at the United Community School, was a false alarm.

9-14-05        1:05am  Deputy Dominick arrested a Patrick E. Sheridan 34 of Boone on a Dallas County Warrant for failure to appear OWI 2nd offense, bond $6,500.00.

9-14-05        9:00am  Sheriff Fehr Executed a writ of ejectment at 717 Keeler St, Boone. Writ was completed by 10:30am.

9-14-05        6:30pm  Deputy Elsberry investigated a two vehicle accident on Highway 17 in the 1000 block.  Ricky Browning 51 of Boone was departing a driveway onto highway 17 to go north bound, crossing the south bound lane, the south bound lane had a line of vehicles waiting for a train that was blocking 17, Browning went through a gap in the line and was struck by a North bound vehicle operated by Phyllis S. Sayre 84 of Ames. No injuries were reported, damages were est at $5,000.00 to Browning's 1995 Windstar, and $3,500.00 to Sayre's 2003 Ford Taurus.

9-15-05        6:48am Sgt Hurley responded to Ogden to assist the Ogden Officer at 261 SE 2nd St with a Domestic situation. Ogden P.D. arrested one male individual and investigation continuing.

9-15-05        7:39am  Sgt Hurley responded to a complaint that a combine had been driven into a pick-up at 86 130th , Paton. Mike Will had his combine and pick-up parked in a farm field over night, and someone vandalized the equipment by  driving the combine into his pick-up. Teh Combine Soybean head was damaged and a 1996 Chevrolet pickup. Investigation is continuing.

9-15-05        11:00am  Deputy Pontius and his K-9 Tazor assisted the Huxley P.D. with their annual locker and and vehicle checks at the Huxley High School. One female was arrested for possession of marijuana.

9-15-05        5:11pm  Deputy Elsberry responded to a complaint of vandalism to large excavating equipment at 569 180th St, Ogden.  Brinks Excavating had equipment damaged in two locations, investigation continuing. 

9-16-05        9:00am  Deputy Kendall investigated a single vehicle accident 15 miles NE of Boone in the 700 block of V Ave. Amber A. Miller 18 of Boone was southbound on V Ave, when she swerved to miss hitting an owl and rolled her vehicle into the west ditch. No injuries were reported, damages were est at $5,000.00 to her 1995 Geo Prizm.

9-17-05        1:38am  Deputy Middleton responded to a complaint of hunters with coon hounds on private property in the 500 block of I Ave, Pilot Mound. Hunters were located and explained that they had permission in the past, and were unable to contact the land owner.  They did leave the area.

9-17-05        6:30am  William J. McCarty 50 of Boone turned himself into the Boone County Jail on a warrant for probation revocation, original charge Domestic abuse, bond $7,000.00.

9-17-05        7:30am  Deputy Godzicky responded to a compliant by 7 Oaks management that they had been broken into, location 1086 222nd Dr, Boone.  Mostly damage reported, speaker removed and thrown in trash and florescent lights were shattered.  Investigation continuing.

9-17-05        8:16am  Deputy Godzicky investigated a two vehicle accident in the 1300 block of Highway 169, just south of Ogden City Limits.  Ogden P.D. assisted along with Ogden Fire and First Responders, and Boone Ambulance.  Douglas Thaemlitz 55 of Estherville was south bound on 169 when a vehicle operated by Esther Leilla 61 of Becker Minn north bound turned left into the Thaemlitz's vehicles path causing Thaemlitz to swerve to avoid hitting the vehcile and he in turn struck a utility pole.  Injured was Thaemiltz and his passenger Mary Ann Thaemlitz 16 of Estherville. Damages were est at $1,000.00 to Thaemlitz's 1986 Chevy Caprice, no daamges to Leilla's 1998 Honda, and $1,000 to light pole owned by Iowa D.O.T.  Leilla was cited for failure to yeild upon left turn.

9-17-05        11:21pm  Deputy Dominick and Middleton responded to a complaint of loud fireworks and noise at the Old Hubby Bridge west Luther by the 4H grounds. Several underage individuals were located with alcohol.  Charged with under age possession of alcohol were the following. 

Brain West 17 of Boone, Tyler Lyons 17 of Boone, Aaron Howell 17 of Boone, Cody Graves 19 of Boone, Cale Henning 18of Boone, and Sean Titus 20 of Boone.   

9-18-05        3:51am   Deputy Middleton began investigation of the theft of a 1980 GMC 1 Ton Truck that was stolen from 916 S. Division St, Boone. Vehicle last seen around on Sept 17th, the vehicle is marked on the side with Rose Construction, the vehicle is blue in color.

9-18-05        5:43pm  Deputy Rohden responded to a domestic situation in the 6100 block of West Lincolnway Ames. Argument with exchange of children. No Arrests.

9-19-05        7:08am  Deputy Elsberry investigated a car deer accident 5 miles north of Ogden on H Ave. Laura L. Mount 54 of Ogden was north bound when she struck a deer, causing $3,000.00 in damages to her 2004 Saturn. No injuries were reported.

9-19-05        5:30pm The Central Iowa task force executed a search warrant at 517 Washington Street, Boone.  Arrested was Tanya Reed 24 of that address for possession of meth 3rd Offense. Also charged were Beau Bender 33 of that address for, and Mary Sturtz 43 also of that address for possession of drug paraphernalia.

9-20-05        7:53am  Sgt Hurley responded to an ambulance assist  with Ogden P.D., in the 300 block of E. Division St. Ogden.  A report of small child choking. Everything checked out O.K. upon officers arrival

9-20-05        11:12am Deputy Kendall located a bicycle along the roadway that appeared to have been struck at E41 just west of J Ave, Ogden. A BMX bicycle was gathered as evidence, as there was blood on the handle bars and spokes on the wheels. No other vehicle located, and no rider for the bicycle was located. Area hospitals have been notified, investigation continuing.

9-20-05        1:43pm  Deputy Elsberry responded to a complaint of three windows that had been broken out of the Fraser City Hall. Mayor was notified, and investigation continuing

9-20-05        5:09pm  Deputy Elsberry and Kendall responded to a complaint of a child out of control and parents need assistance in gaining control, 600 block of 290th, Ogden.

9-20-05        11:30pm  Deputy Pontius investigated a single vehicle accident 1.5 miles NW of Woodward on E62.  David S. Reeves 48 of Des Moines was south bound when he went off the roadway and rolled into the ditch several times.. Reeves was taken to Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines with injuries sustained in the accident. Damages were est at $25,000.00 to his 2003 Jeep Cherokee.

9-21-05        4:12am  Deputy Middleton responded to a two vehicle accident 2 miles south of highway 30 on highway 17. Tyler Eatock 20 of Boone was north bound on 17 when he crossed the center line and struck a south bound Semi and Trailer operated by Kerry L. Randall 56 of Latimer Iowa.  Injured in the accident was Eatock. A passenger 19 year old Jayson Pendarvis of Boone was cited for possession of alcohol under the legal age.  Eatock charges are pending, alcohol related. Damages were est at $10,000.00 to Eatock's 2004 Nisson, and $15,000.00 to Randall's 2006 Freightliner Semi and trailer.  Three other vehicle were damaged from debris that scattered throughout the roadway.  Investigation continuing.  

9-20-05        9:25pm  Sgt Moore arrested a Daniel A. Vinnece 33 of Boone on a Boone County Warrant, bond $10,000.00 original charge possession of ecstasy. During arrest 20 grams of crystal meth was found in Vinnece's possession, and additional charges of possession of meth marijuana and tax stamp violation.

9-21-05        12:25pm  Sgt Hurley investigated a two vehicle accident 2 miles East of Madrid on 330th.  A farm combine was west bound, and two vehicles were also west bound, when both vehicles attempted to pass the combine at the same time and collided during the pass. Vehicle directly behind the combine was operated by Deborah King 53 of Boone, second vehicle operated by Kenneth Rutan 40 of Des Moines. Damages were est at $3,000.00 to King's 1995 Buick and $50.00 to Rutan's 1994 International Truck. No injuries were reported, and the combine received no damages and did not stay at the scene.

9-21-05        8:19pm  Deputy Elsberry responded to an alarm sounding in the 2200 block of 229th Place, Ames, was a false alarm.

The Boone County Sheriff's Office gave Sgt Lowell Hurley a Plaque in recognition of 25 years of Service to the Boone County Sheriff's Office. Sgt Hurley began his career with Sheriff's Office, In Sept 1980 under Sheriff Hank Wallace.

9-22-05        9:05am  Sgt Hurley began an investigation of the theft of equipment from the Boone Waterworks area.  Morrill Inc reported that they had equipment stored in a well field, that were stolen over the week-end. Value of equipment est. at over $3,500.00. Investigation continuing.

9-22-05        1:42pm  Deputy Rohden investigated a two vehicle accident 2 miles west of Ames on Highway 30.  Richard Chapman 24 of Ames was east bound on 30 when he struck the back end of another east bound vehicle operated by Erin Janson 23 of Urbandale. No injuries were reported, damages were est at $2,000.00 to Chapman's 1994 Saturn, and $2,500.00 to Janson's 2004 KIA. Chapman was cited for failure to maintain control.

9-22-05        5:15pm  Deputy Rohden investigated a single vehicle accident .5 miles north of Madrid on Rose Rd.  Lucas Johnson 15 of Madrid was north bound when it appeared he was driving to fast for gravel road conditions and lost control going into the east ditch. No injuries were reported, damages were est at $3,500.00 to his 1994 Ford Escort.

9-23-05        2:45am  Deputy Dominick responded to a complaint by a Fareway Truck Operator that there was a vehicle that had cut the truck off and vehicle was west bound on 30. Deputy located the vehicle and stopped it near the Green County Line. Driver Deanna L. Block of Duncombe Iowa arrested fro driving while lic suspended.

9-23-05        8:57am  Sgt Hurley responded to a complaint by a motorist who had witnessed a vehicle pull off to the side of the roadway in the 1700 block of highway 30, and appeared to be pulling someone from the vehicle. When Deputy arrived he discovered that this was a Good Connection Vehicle that was transported 3 individuals and one was not being cooperative. Everything checked out O.K.

9-23-05        7:12pm  Deputy Naeve responded to Polk County to pick-up a Boone County prisoner Chasity Pratt 30 of Des Moines. Pratt was being held in the Polk County Jail and was now being released on Boone County Warrant, Bond $300.00, theft 5th.

9-24-05        11:46am  Deputy Elsberry responded to a complaint by Robert Snedden of Ogden, that he had two stainless steal hog feeders stolen from his hog lot at 1845 K Ave. Valued at $160.00.

9-24-05        2:51pm  Deputy Kendall made a traffic stop at L Ave and 270th, Ogden. Driver Travis Houseman 30 of Boone was arrested for Open container of alcohol, Driving while Lic barred, and driving while lic suspended.

9-25-05        12:39am  Deputy Godzicky made a traffic stop at Highway 30 and X Ave. Driver Abram A. Mallicoat 20 of Perry was arrested for O.W.I.

Update on bicycle that was located along the roadway Sept 20th on old 30. Everyone involved has been located and it turned out have been a verbal domestic situation between a couple. Male subject was operating his bike and wife following, he got made and struck her windshield with his hands and cut his hands, then with his bloody hands threw the bike to the ground damaging the bike. No one was severally injured and no charges at this time.

9-25-05       9:19pm Deputy Dominick responded to a complaint by Shirley Lester of Ogden that she had an American flag and pole missing from sometime over the weekend valued at $50.00.  Judy Laubfeber also reported the theft of a hanging plant valued at $12.00.

9-26-05        11:21am Sgt Hurley responded to Grand Comm School as they reported a vehicle parked across from the school all day.  Investigation revealed that vehicle broke down and owners were planning to remove the vehicle later in the day.

9-26-05        3:32pm Deputy Elsberry arrested Jeremy Rowe on a Boone County warrant for assault with intent to commit sexual abuse, bond $5,000 cash or surety.

9-27-05        12:33am Deputies Pontius and Middleton responded to Colfax township for a report of a stolen pickup.  Investigation continuing.

9-27-05        1:44am Story County Jail arrested Susan Kaye Pearson on a Boone Co warrant for 5th degree theft, $350 cash bond.

9-27-05        3:50am Deputy Middleton responded to 824 240th Street, Ogden for suspicious activity. 

9-27-05        3:26pm Sgt Moore arrested Jason Pendarvis, 19, and Dustin Pendarvis, 18, both of Boone for Conspiracy to deliver methamphetamine.

9-27-05        2:58pm Sgt Hurley and Deputy Elsberry responded to an accident on Hwy 17.  William Synnott, Des Moines was driving northbound on Hwy 17 and was passed by Jeffrey Frevert, Fort Dodge.  The Frevert vehicle entered the northbound lane and caused Synnott to go into the ditch.  $1,000 damage to the Synnott vehicle.

9-27-05        4:04pm Deputy Elsberry responded to UPRR property between X Ave and XL Place for a trespassing complaint. 

9-27-05        5:35pm Deputy Elsberry responded to 304 W 16th Street for a vandalism report.

9-27-05        7:09pm Deputies Elsberry and Pontius responded to 160th and W Avenue for a personal injury accident involving  Alexander Welsh, 16, rural Boone.  There was $2,500 damage to the 1995 Ford Aerostar he was driving.

9-28-05        1:05am Deputies Middleton and Pontius responded to an imcomplete 911 from the Boxholm Coop.  Building secure upon officers arrival.

9-28-05        7:59am Sgt Hurley responded to 1580 X Avenue, Ames for a report of two dogs attacking rabbits owned by Roger Kempe and Cecilia Hadaway.  Eleven rabbits were destroyed.  The dogs' owner is Ev Cochran of Story County.

9-28-05        9:21am Sgt Hurley responded to Sonoco Products for an imcomplete 911.  Sonoco was having phone problems.

9-28-05        6:05pm Deputy Dominick responded to Boxholm for barking dogs at the Scott King residence.  Talked to owner.

9-28-05        6:38pm Deputy Rohden responded to Fraser for a report of a suspicious person.

9-29-05        9:17am Sgt Hurley responded to the Y Camp for a suspicious person.  Joseph Coyle, New York, was arrested for 3rd degree burglery.

9-29-05        10:16am Phyllis George, Pilot Mound reported finding a blue sting ray boys bicycle in the creek.

9-29-05        2:40pm Polk Co Sheriff's Office arrested Andrew Vriezelaar on a Boone County warrant for failure to appear, bond $500 cash only.

9-29-05        7:18pm  Sgt Moore arrested Jeffrey Landals, 44, Boone on a Boone County warrant for Delivery of methamphetamine, bond $50,000 cash or surety.  A search warrant was issued for the residence and Kerry Inman, 52, Boone was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession with intent to deliver. 

9-29-05        12:23pm  Deputy Elsberry responded to a complaint of a male subject was living under an a bridge on highway 30 Exit 142. Individual was located and Deputy spoke to him, he has been there for a short period of time and said that he was on his way to Hawaii.

9-30-05        8:01am  Deputy Elsberry investigated a single vehicle accident 3 miles West of Ames on V Ave.  David A. Markman 19 of Ames had lost control of his vehicle and rolled it into the ditch, this took place at approximately 2:30am that morning, was not reported at the time.  No injuries were reported. Investigation continuing.
