10-01-07        3:11am  Deputy Wingate checked out a suspicious vehicle at the Highway 210 Boat ramp west of Madrid. No one was around the vehicle a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee that had been reported Stolen out of Ames.

10-01-07        7:19am  A United Comm. School bus operator reported that a vehicle had illegally passed a School bus which had activated the amber and red lights over head. License plate was observed and investigation continuing.

10-01-07        8:30am  Detective Kendall made a traffic stop at the Woodward Academy. Operator Derrick Walker 29 of Woodward was arrested for Operation with expired registration, Driving while barred, driving while suspended, and no insurance.

10-01-07        10:37pm  Deputy Wingate assisted a Madrid Officer with a complaint of a suicide attempt in the 900 block of South Kennedy. Individual was taken by ambulance to the Boone County Hospital.

10-02-07        6:40am  Deputy Pontius investigated a car deer accident on Highway 30 1/8th of a mile west of Noble Hills Place west of Boone. Driver Robert K. Williams 28 of Boone was west bound when he struck a deer, causing $1,000.00 in damages to his 2003 Ford F250. No injuries were reported.

DCI Test results were received and Christopher A. Swank 41 of Boone has been charged with O.W.I. and Failure to maintain control as a result of personal injury accident that had occurred on August 26th, 2007. Location of the Accident was in the 1200 block of 198th Lane, Boone.

10-02-07        10:12am  Deputy Pontius responded to a complaint at the Woodward-Granger School, Grand View building on the State Grounds that a 14 year old female was threatening others with a scissors. When Deputies arrived she had calmed down and no charges filed at this time.

10-02-07        4:30pm  Deputy Godzicki investigated a two vehicle accident on Highway 210 and QW Lane. Lora L. Stidolph 50 of Woodward was east bond on Highway 210 when she slowed down for debris on the roadway and was struck from behind by another east bound vehicle operated by Tiffany L. Deboef 22 of Woodward. No one was injured, damages were est. at $8,000.00 to Deboef's 1997 Honda, and $4,000.00 to Stidolph's 2005 Chrysler. Deboef was cited for failure to stop.

10-03-07        5:50pm  911 calls started coming in about a vehicle that was going east bound in the west bound lanes of Highway near United Community School. Deputy Godzicki located the vehicle and cited driver Marie A. Uthe 79 of Ames for driving the wrong way of a two way highway. No injuries or accidents occurred.

10-03-07        9:39pm  Deputy Godzicki investigated a car deer accident in the 900 block of P70, Ogden. Driver Alycia N. West 16 of Ogden struck a deer, causing $900.00 in damages to her 2000 Volkswagen. No injuries were reported.

10-04-07        2:23am  Deputy Wingate responded to a complaint of trespassers on railroad property at 212th and XL. Arrested for trespassing on railroad property was Bradly A. Dahlsten 28 of Ames, and Hilary N. Asman 25 of Johnston Iowa.

10-04-07        7:30am William M. Davis 43 of Ames turned himself into the Sheriff's Office on charges of Intent to commit sexual abuse, indecent exposure, and Lascivious acts with a child. He was taken to the Boone County Jail and was released this morning on ROR, no bond.

10-04-07        8:45am  Sgt. Hurley responded to an alarm sounding at Anytime Fitness in Boone, as all City cars were busy on an assault call. Was a false alarm, all O.K.

10-04-07        8:51am  Sgt. Hurley responded to a complaint by a woman who claimed to have been taken against her will, and tied up in her car in the Cemetery south of Madrid. THis same woman has made other claims similar to this more then once in the past couple of weeks. She was taken to the Boone County Hospital for evaluation. It was determined by Medical personal that she could be held in Jail. Allyson H. Brayton 33 of Madrid was charged with making a false report and taken to the Boone County Jail.

10-04-07        11:55am  Inmate Brayton attempted suicide in the Jail, she was checked out by Boone County Ambulance and returned to her cell on suicide watch. She was not a problem the rest of the night.

10-04-07        1:04pm  Chief Deputy Elsberry went to Ames to pick-up a prisoner at the Curt Forbs Center wanted on a Boone County warrant. Arrested was Jeremy DeVoogd 22 of Boone. Warrant for Burglary 3rd.

10-04-07        1:13pm  Sgt. Hurley responded to a complaint by Dan Kauffman of Boxholm, that his home on Beech St, in Boxholm had been entered and taken was cash and a diamond ring. Total value of items missing est. at over $3,000.00. Investigation continuing.

10-04-07        5:12pm  Deputy Pontius responded to Luther in the 500 block of 5th Street, on a complaint of a Domestic situation between in-laws at this location, when Deputy arrived there was smoke coming from the home and Boone Fire and Ambulance were dispatched, fire was from food left on the stove. Investigation continuing.

10-05-07        12:56am Deputy Dominick arrested a Sue A. Buckley who turned herself into the Boone County Sheriff's Office on a Boone County  warrant. Warrant for failure to appear, original charge criminal mischief, Bone $360.00.

10-05-07        7:24am  Sgt. Hurley investigated a two vehicle accident 1.5 miles East of Boone on Highway 17 and 210th. Paul D. Rouse 38 of Boone was stopped at a stop sign waiting to turn left, he then pulled out into the path of an east bound vehicle operated by Joseph R. Buchmiller 25 of Ogden and was struck in the intersection. Both drivers were injured, Buchmiller was taken by Boone County Ambulance to the Boone County Hospital, Rouse was taken by personal vehicle. Damages were est. at $500.00 to Buchmiller's 1990 Pontiac, and $4,000.00 to Rouse's 2002 Mazda. Rouse was cited for failure to yield.

10-05-07        8:01pm  Deputy Pontius responded to the Madrid VFW to assist the Madrid Officer with an assault call to that location. Madrid Officer did make an arrest.

10-06-07        9:42am  Sgt. Hurley responded to an ambulance assist at the Madrid gravel pits west of town. a fisherman had located anothe man who had fallen and needed assistance in that location. 73 year old man was taken by ambulance to the Boone County Hospital.

10-06-07        4:35pm  Deputy Godzicki responded to Madrid in the 100 block of County Line Rd on a complaint an individual who was threatening another. Both parties were spoken to as there is a dispute over money, parties were advised to seek matters through the courts.

10-06-07        9:59pm  Deputy Godzicki responded to a complaint of a dark colored vehicle north bound don Highway 169 at a high rate of speed, Deputy Godzicki was north and found the vehicle coming toward his at over 120 mph. Vehicle was stopped at E18 and 169, just south of Boxholm. Driver Joseph A. Cleary Jr. 34 of Boxholm was arrested for Eluding, speeding, and Open container of Alcohol in his vehicle.

10-07-07        1:07am  Deputy Wingate responded as Madrid P.D. had a 4 wheeler fleeing the area of Highway 210 boat ramp. One 4 wheeler became stuck in the mud and 4 wheeler was left behind. That vehice was impounded  and investigation continuing.

10-07-07        5:59pm  Deputy Godzicki investigated a car deer accident 1/4 mile SE of Ogden on Highway 30. Lynette M. McPherson 50 of Boone wes west bound on 30 when a deer ran out in front of her causing $4,000.00 in damages to her 1998 Dodge Ram, no injuries were reported.

10-08-07        8:29am  Deputy Pontius responded to a complaint by the foreman working on the Farm Expo site, that they had a tool trailer broken into, but nothin gmissing at this time, requested extra patrol.

10-08-07        12:39pm Deputy Godzicki responded to a complaint of a scam that was reported by Specialty Leather Processors on Industrial Rd. 2 cashiers checks were received totaling $7,600.00. from Benton Harbor Michigan, this is another Leather Co.  Leather World Co. based out of the Untied States, they are asking that the Boone Co. act as thier Financial Controller, to receive these cashiers checks, take there percentage out and forward the remaining money on. Appears this is a way to get financial information to deplete the accounts from the Boone Business.

10-08-07        4:12pm  Deputy Godzicki responded to a complaint by William Judd in the 1500 block of X Ave, Napier, Mr. Williams believes that someone deliberately set a fire in his feed house which is located inside his Silo. Kelly Fire came out to look at the damage to determine origin of fire. Fire was found on Saturday moring, and not reported till today. Farmer was put fire out himself and did not call in till today. Still under investigation.

10-09-07        12:29pm  Deputy Pontius responded to a complaint of an abandoned vehicle at 300th and M Ave, Woodward. Vehicle turned out to have been reported stolen out of  Dallas County. Woodward Officer responded to gather evidence and take vehicle.

10-09-07        3:42pm  Deputy Godzicki investigated a two vehicle 1 mile East of Boone in the 1600 block of 210th. Aaron A. Wickett 28 of Boone was west bound when he became distracted to pick-up somthing on the floor and drifted to the left hitting a east bound vehicle operated by Darrel C. Cory 79 of Boone. Cory and his passenger Betty Cory 78 of Boone were taken by ambulance to the Boone County Hospital. Damages were est. at $1,500.00 to Wickett's 1995 Pontiac, and $9,000.00 to Cory's 2002 Mercury. Wickett was cited for failure to maintain control.

10-10-07        4:05pm  Deputy Pontius investigated a two vehicle accident 7 miles South of Boxholm on Highway 169. Karrie L. Peterson 16 of Boxholm was north bound on 169, when she slowed for a non-contact vehicle and was struck from behind by another north bound vehicle operated by Edward M. Bergeson 58 of Fort Dodge. No injuries were reported, damages were est. at $1,000.00 to Peterson's 1983 Buick, and $3,500.00 to to a State of Iowa vehicle operated by Bergesen, that vehicle is a 2007 Ford F150.

10-10-07        9:15pm  Deputy Pontius responded to a complaint of a individual on a crises line who was threatening suicide, the female was located in the Madrid area and taken to the Boone County Hospital for treatment by her husband.

10-11-07        8:28am  Sgt. Hurley responded to a complaint of a camper on fire at the Ledges Camp ground, no Park Ranger was on duty, Boone Fire responded, no one was in the camper. The camper was destroyed and Owned by Scott Toms of Boone.

10-11-07        7:46pm  Deputy Naeve responded to a complaint of a vehicle east bound in the West Bound lanes of Highway 30 from the Ogden area, vehicle was stopped at 222nd and Highway 30. Driver Irma M. Morgan 82 of Boone was cited for driving the wrong side of a two way highway. No injuries or accidents were involved.

10-12-07        12:06am  Deputy Dominick responded to a complaint of a vehicle in the ditch at 198th and Mallard, Boone. The vehicle a 1995 Ford Explorer had rolled and damaged a fence belonging to Jeremiah Anderson. No one was around the vehicle, and the vehicle was towed, investigation continuing.

10-12-07        9:16am  Sheriff Fehr responded to the Treasurers Office on a complaint with a Hispanic with fraudulent documents. Male party and female had left the building leaving behind a Social Security Card. They were located in a pick-up just south of the Courthouse. Male was taken into custody with assistance with Boone P.D. Evaristo Nolazco Cabrera 27 of Boone was charged with Identity theft as he had a fraudulent Social Security number was he is not an American citizen.

10-13-07        12:33am  Deputy Wingate investigated a single vehicle accident at 240th and X Ave. John C. Grant 19 of Miles Iowa was south bound on X Ave attempted to turn onto 240th and lost control and rolled his vehicle into the north ditch on 240th. Grant was taken by ambulance to the Boone County Hospital. Damages were est. at $5,000.00 to his 1990 Chevy. Grant was cited for failure to maintain control.

10-13-07        3:25am  Deputy Wingate made a traffic stop south of 300th on Highway 17. Driver William O. Weatherly 30 of Des Moines was arrested for O.W.I. 1st Offense.

10-13-07        2:03pm  Sgt. Hurley and Deputy Godzicki responded to a complaint that a family kitten had ran off the complainants property and into a neighbors garage. 2 persons went to retrieve the kitten when the home owner came out with a shotgun and pointed it at the people. This took place at 2223 North Story, Boone. Kenneth C. Springer 75 of that address was arrested for assault by pointing a firearm at the two persons who feared for their safety.

10-13-07        8:14pm  Deputy Godzicki investigated a car deer accident in the 800 block of 216th. Darnell A. Miller 37 of Ogden struck a deer causing $2,000.00 in damages to her 2005 Chrysler. No injuries were reported.

10-14-07        12:04am  Deputy Wingate responded to the Boone County Hospital to speak to a victim of Domestic Abuse. After further investigation, David M. Lee 22 of Ogden was arrested for Domestic assault.

10-14-07        11:15am  Deputy Pontius responded to an alarm sounding at the United Community School, was a false alarm.

10-14-07        12:50pm  Deputy Pontius responded to an ambulance assist in the 2100 block of 320th, Madrid to assist an elderly female who had fallen.

10-14-07        6:37pm  Deputy Godzicki investigated a car deer accident 5 miles north of Boone on Nature Rd. Deana L. Bachmann 37 of Boone was south bound when a deer ran out in front of her causing $3,000.00 in damages to her 2007 Chevy Blazer. No injuries were reported.

10-14-07        7:23pm  Deputy Godzicki responded to an alarm sounding at the United Community School was another false alarm.

10-15-07        1:45pm Deputy Pontius investigated a 2 vehicle accident at 190th and X Ave, Ames. Raechel A. Mesenbrink 24 of Ames was east bound on 190th as she attempted to turn north onto X Ave, at the same time another east bound vehicle operated by Clyde A. Joseph 21 of Boone tried to pass her causing the accident in the intersection. No injuries were reported, damages were est. at $300.00 to Mesenbrink's 1991 Pontiac, and $300.00 to Joseph's 1994 Lincoln towncar. Joseph was charged with unsafe passing, failure to have insurance, driving while barred, and dark windows. While investigating that accident another vehicle stopped with no plates and operater Jeffrey A. Courtney was arrested for driving while license revoked.

10-15-07        8:59pm  Deputy Dominick responded to the Madrid area on a complaint of a reckless driver hitting curbs and pulling out in front of cars along highway 17. Vehicle was located and driver Tammy D. Viers 49 of Madrid was arrested for O.W.I.  2nd Offense.

10-16-07        9:41am  Sgt. Hurley responded to 38 270th Rippey on a complaint by a Greene County Deputy who was at that residence on another matter, arrested was Jay D. Wenger 19 of that address. Wenger was wanted on a Dallas County warrant, and there were County road signs located in his home. Wenger was also cited by Boone County for possession of traffic control devises, several signs were taken as evidence and will be returned to the Boone County Road Dept.

10-17-07        3:04pm  Deputy Pontius responded to a complaint of bio-hazard garbage on Highway 30. DOT Employee's were picking up garbage along he Highway and came across bio-hazard materials consisting of needles, gloves all medical related. The material had been scattered by traffic from Boone to United Comm School area. DOT is not allowed to touch this material. Sheriff Reserves and Search and Rescue were called out along with State Patrol to clean up what they could find in that area, took several hours. Appears the bio-hazard bag had fallen off some type of vehicle that most likely picks up this type of material from Animal labs and medical Departments. investigation is continuing.

10-18-07        1:35pm  Deputy Godzicki responded to a complaint of money stolen from a cup in a Home in the 1900 block of G Ave, Ogden. Charged with theft 5th degree was Matthew Spaulding 16 of that address.

10-18-07        3:01pm  Deputy Godzicki assisted the Boone Police with a two vehicle fatality accident in the 400 block of West 8th, Boone.

10-19-07        11:41pm  Deputy Wingate assisted a Boone County Ambulance and Kelley first responders with a report of a man who had fallen and needed mediacl assistance in the 6100 block of West Lincoln way Ames.

10-20-07        7:05am  Deputy Pontius responded to a complaint of a vehicle on its top at 335th and Duck north of Perry. Perry Fire and Ambulance responded, the vehicle a 1989 Ford Bronco had lost control and went into the ditch rolled onto its top. Driver left the scene, investigation continuing

10-20-07        9:08am  Deputy Pontius responded to a complaint of juveniles throwing fire crackers at vehicles in traffic on Highway 17 north of Luther. No kids were located.

10-21-07        1:44am Deputy Wingate made a traffic stop on Highway 169 south of Ogden, Driver Jordan F. Pressler 19 of Eagle Grove Iowa, was arrested for O.W.I. 1st, and driving on the wrong side of the roadway.

10-21-07        2:44pm  Deputy Godzicki responded to a complaint of a vehicle that had gone into the ditch NW side of Bridge at Tilleys Hole NW of Boone. Driver Adian W. Conine lost control of his Ford Pick-up. He was cited for failure to maintain control and no proof of insurance. No damages were or injuries were reported.

10-21-07        3:57pm  Deputy Godzicki responded to a complaint by Duane Townsend of Ogden that while traveling old Highway 30 near the Des Moines River Bridge, some kids had thrown rocks and one hit his windshield breaking the windshield. The Boys were located and parents all located. At this time agreement was made for expenses to paid by the to boys families that were involved. Both boys are 9 years old.

10-21-07        11:27pm  Deputy Wingate located an open door at the Perry Country Club.

10-23-07        4:51pm  Deputy Pontius investigated a a single vehicle roll-over at 140th and Q Ave, Boone. Tasha Warford 16 of Boone was east bound on 140th, when she lost control and went into the southeast corner ditch at Q Ave and 140th. Injured was Warford, and passengers Page Kinyon 19 of Boone, and Janet Mittelstedter 15 of Boone, all taken to the Boone County Hospital for treatment. Damages were est at $2,500.00 to Warford's 1991 Chevy Corsica.

10-24-07        7:14am  Sgt. Hurley investigated a two vehicle accident 3.5 miles West of Ogden on 220th. Mickey Teed 30 of Jefferson was was east bound when he slowed down for a vehicle in front of him that was turning left into a driveway, a vehicle behind him operated by Angela Hansen-Abbas 37 of Perry did not slow down and struck the Teed vehicle, causing $1,500.00 in damages to Teed's 1999 Dodge Pick-up and $7,000.00 to Hansen-Abbas' 2005 Chevy Impala, no injuries were reported. Hansen Abbas wascited for failure to maintain control.

10-24-07        8:32am  Sgt. Hurley responded to a complaint that a vehicle had been vandalized in the 1600 block of 327th, Madrid. Justin Gibson reported that damages were done to his 2007 Chevy Pick-up, someone had keyed his pick-up over night, causing an est. $500.00 in damages.

10-24-07        3:29pm  Deputy Godzicki investigated a two vehicle accident 1.5 miles East of Boone at 190th and R Ave. Christopher Heiden 46 of Nevada was south bound on R Ave, he stopped and then proceeded and was struck by a west bound vehicle on 190th operated by Shirley Kent 61 0f Boone. No injuries were reported. Damages were est. at $2,500.00 to Kent;s 2007 Honda, and no damages to Heiden's 1988 Peterbuilt dump truck. Heiden was cited for failure to yeild upon entering a through highway.

10-24-07        4:44pm  Deputy Godzicki responded to a house fire at 2183 320th, Madrid. Madrid fire and Woodward fire responded.  The Melin Cabin on that address was reported to have been a total loss. No injuries were reported.

10-25-07        7:41am Sgt. Hurley responded to a complaint of cattle running loose on E26 Just West of Highway 17. Cattle were located in corn field in the 1800 block of 190th

10-25-07        12:36pm  Sgt. Hurley responded to the Story County line to pick-up a prisoner arrested by Ames P.D. Arrested on a Boone County warrant was Jeremy D. Bogue 27 of Boone. Probation revocation, original charge Burglary.

10-26-07        6:25am  Deputy Pontius investigated a car deer accident 2 miles West of Ames on Highway 30. Merri C. Cosentino 43 of Boone was east bound when she struck a deer, causing $5,000.00 in damages to her 2005 Dodge. No injuries were reported.

10-26-07        7:47am  Deputy Pontius took a report of a stolen vehicle from a Tracy Busch in the 1900 block of 230th, Boone. Busch reported that he had parked the 1992 Ford Pick-up at the farm site the night before with keys left in it. The vehicle a 1992 Ford F250 Red in color.

10-26-07        1:25pm  Deputy Pontius investigated a single vehicle accident 7 miles NW of Boone on 130th. Nancy Rehard 57 of Winterset Iowa was east bound on 130th when she lost control on the curve and went into the north ditch. Rehard was transported by Boone County Ambulance to the Boone County Hospital for her injuries. Damages were est. at 00 to a 1999 Chevy Cavalier.

10-26-07        5:05pm  Jasper County Sheriff's Office reported that they had located the Boone County Stolen Pick-up in their County and that the Pick-up was occupied. Vehicle stopped and one arrest made in Jasper County for possession of stolen property, investigation continuing.

10-27-07        1:23am  Deputy Dominick responded to the Green County Line to pick-up a prisoner arrested by Green County. Misty Murphy 28 of Terril Iowa was arrested on a Boone County Warrant and transported to the Boone County Jail.

10-27-07        2:21am  Deputy Dominick made a traffic stop on E26 by the Waterworks. Driver Andrew C. McKnight 21 was arrested for O.W.I. 1st Offense.

10-27-07        9:29am Deputy Pontius responded to a complaint by Mark Roberts of Luther that someone had stolen the Des Moines Register Vending machine at the Luther Country Store. The machine with Papers and approximately $25.00 was taken.

10-27-07        7:17pm  Deputy Godzicki investigated a car deer accident 1 mile east of Boone on 30. Frank J. Freeman 38 of Ames was east bound when a deer ran out in front of him, causing $8,500.00 in damages to his 2004 Chevy Cavalier. No injuries were reported.

10-27-07        11:48pm  Deputy Wingate made a traffic stop in the 500 block of Highway 30. Driver Calleen E. Anderson 16 of Ogden was cited for speeding, passenger Kevin Hein 22 of Pilot Mound  was cited for open container in a motor vehicle.

10-28-07        5:09pm  Deputy Pontius responded to a complaint of cattle loose int he area of 1200 block of Javelin Place, Boone. Cattle belong to Lanny Stumbo.

10-30-07        7:58am  Murray Muench of Rural Pilot Mound reported that his mail box was vandalized overnight on Juniper Rd. Sgt. Hurley responded and mail box was knocked over by a vehicle.

10-31-07        12:24am Deputy Wingate made a traffic stop in the 1800 block of 290th, Madrid. Operator Kevin L. Carlson 49 of Madrid was arrested for O.W.I.

10-31-07        1:23pm  Sgt. Hurley responded to a complaint of a possible suicide attempt through a Georgia suicide Hotline. Female individual was located at the Cemetary on Highway 17 just south of Madrid. She was taken into custody and committed for evaluation.

10-31-07        4:14pm  Deputy Godzicki responded to a complaint by Barbara Spenser of Stanhope that she had items taken from a garage on her property in Boxholm. Reported stolen was a Boat motor, push lawn mower, extension ladders and misc. tools. Investigation is continuing.
