10-01-06        7:30pm  Deputy Rohden investigated a car deer accident 1 mile north of Ogden on P70. Daniel L. Jones 52 of Dayton struck a deer causing $5,000.00 in damages to his 2005 Ford. No injuries were reported.

10-01-06        11:15pm  Deputy Pontius responded to a pick-up deer accident in the 1300 block of Peony Lane, Boone.  Pam McIntyre 54 of Boone struck a deer causing minor damages to her 1993 Toyota Pick-up, no injuries were reported.

10-02-06        8:45am  Deputy Dominick responded to a complaint by Mark Reetz of Ankeny that he had $1,700.00 worth of lumber taken from a construction site in the 1600 block of 328th. Investigation continuing.

10-03-06        8:22am  The Office took several reports of mailboxes pushed over and vandalized in the 2300 block of 210th, Boone.

10-03-06        8:28pm  Union Pacific Railroad called the 911 Center to report that they had a train collide with track equipment at J Ave and 208th St, crossing. Railroad requested no EMS or Law Enforcement, just wanted to report that they would clean up the area and no one injured.

10-03-06        10:42am  he Central Iowa Task Force executed a search warrant at 520 West 1st, Ogden. Arrested was Brandy A. Otis 24 of that address for possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a prescription drug belonging to others. Otis was taken to the Boone County Jail.

10-05-06        4:30pm  Deputy Rohden responded to a complaint of cattle running loose int he area of 240th and C Ave, Beaver.

10-05-06        5:36pm  Boone Fire and Boone County Ambulance were dispatched to a field fire at 692 T Ave, Boone. Property owned by Beal's in that area.

10-05-06        9:02pm  Deputy Elsberry responded to a complaint of a car vandalized in Beaver.  The vehicle owned by Stacie L. Bloxham a 1987 Chevy Blazer windows were broken out. Investigation continuing.

10-05-06        10:09pm  Deputy Elsberry and Middleton responded to a farming accident in the 2100 block of 120th Boone. Daryl Thorson 54 of 2170 120th Boone was caught in combine corn head and died of his injuries at the scene. Thorson was found by his wife after he was not in the home by 10pm and she went out to look for him.  Apparently the combine needed repairs and Mr. Thorson went under the corn head to do repairs, that is where he was found.  Farming can be a dangerous occupation and this is a reminder of those dangers.  Story County Rescue Story City Fire responded to the Scene along with Boone County Ambulance.

10-06-06        5:05am  Deputy Middleton responded to a complaint that there was a female standing beside the roadway and a vehicle in a field near by on Highway 30 East bound lanes near the Untied Community School area.  When Officer arrived there was no female located and the vehicle a 2000 Jeep grand Cherokee was left in the field. Parents of the driver were notified in Carroll and they seemed not to concerned about the driver.  Some time later the drivers attorney called and said that the driver was O.K. The vehicle was impounded and investigation is continuing. Approximately $5,500.00 were reported in damages to the Jeep.

Additional information on above accident Driver Holly A. Steffes 19 of Carroll was east bound on Highway 30 when she ran off the roadway and entered the south ditch and rolled twice, coming to rest on wheels. Driver then left the scene and reported no injuries. Driver will be cited for failure to have control.

10-06-06        10:56pm  Deputy Middleton located a stop sign broken off at 110th and T Ave, D.O.T. was notified, deputy was able to prop the stop sign up temporarily until road crew was able to repair.

10-07-06        8:43am  A individual from Jefferson reported that while he was East bound on Highway 30 he saw a large Nebraska Corn Husker sign attached to a des Moines River sign near the Des Moines River.  The Ply wood sign was removed. individual reporting the sign believed that this had to be a criminal offense as he was an ISU Fan.

10-07-06        9:00pm Deputy Naeve investigated a single vehicle accident west of Boone in the 1000 block of Highway 30. Driver Melissa M. Vandorn 27 of Woodward struck a deer, causing $4,000.00 in damages to her 1994 Plymouth Voyager. No injuries were reported.

10-09-06        4:00am  Deputy Elsberry responded to a single vehicle accident 5 miles NE of Boone on E26 and V Ave. Driver Andre Lokasari 23 of Ames was west bound on E26 when he swerved to miss striking an animal and went into the ditch, causing $6,000.00 in damages to his 2003 Honda Civic. Driver and passenger Cynthia Sari 18 were taken to Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames.

10-09-06        8:30am  Sgt Hurley investigated a single vehicle accident 3/4 of a mile east of Fraser on 155th St. Amy Laube 25 of Boone was east bound when she said she swerved to avoid hitting two deer on the roadway and rolled her vehicle into the north ditch. No injuries were reported. Damages were est. at $12,000.00 to her 2005 Dodge Caravan. Laube was charged with failure to maintain control.

10-09-06        8:11am  Sgt. Hurley responded to Ogden to assist the Ogden Officer with a domestic situation at 419 SE 2nd. MAle party was arrested by Ogden P.D. for Domestic assault and Public Intoxication.

10-10-06        8:32am  Sgt Hurley responded to the Boxholm School Grand Community on a complaint that a 4th grader brought a knife to School. The Knife was taken from the child. He brought it to school to give to another child. No charges filed , School will handle internally.

10-10-06        4:21pm  Deputy Kendall and State Patrol responded to a personal injury accident on Nature Rd and R18.One driver was air lifted to a Des Moines Hospital. State Patrol will complete the report.

10-10-06        8:44pm  Deputy Naeve along with Ogden Fire and first responders and a Boone County Ambulance responded to a complaint of an explosion that took place in the basement of a home at 1189 270th St. Boone.  Home belonging to the Stumbo family. Fire Marshall was called to the scene, investigation continuing.  One person received injuries. It appears to have been an LP explosion. 17 year old Nathaniel Stumbo was taken by Ambulance to the Boone County Hospital and then transferred to the Iowa City burn unit.

10-11-06        1:30pm  Sgt. Hurley investigated a two vehicle accident 4 miles West of Ogden on D Ave. Reuben D. Murphy 65 of Lyle Minn. was south bound when he leaned over to get a cup of coffee and crossed the center line side swiping a north bound Semi operated by Roger Erickson 45 of Boxholm. Murphy was also operating a semi.  No injuries were reported, damages were est. at $750.00 to Murphy's Kenworth, and $1,500.00 to Erickson's Freightliner. Murphy was cited for failure to yield 1/2 the roadway.

10-11-06        2:35pm  Sgt Hurley assisted a Boone County Ambulance with a medical assist in Boxholm, Individual was transported to the Boone County Hospital.

10-12-06        10:06pm  Jesse L. Stamper 20 of Boone turned himself into the Sheriff's Office on a warrant out of Clay County, warrants for burglary 3rd, criminal mischief, and possession of alcohol under the legal age, bond $3,000.00.

10-12-06        10:11pm Deputy Naeve investigated a 3 vehicle accident 2 miles east of Luther on 270th.  Gary L. Roys 54 of Madrid was west bound and proceeded to pass another west bound vehicle operated by Robert L. Owens 57 of Luther, during the pass another east bound vehicle operated by Susan O. Koehler 50 of Ames had to take evasive action and struck a mailbox, then the Roy's vehicle struck the rear quarter panel of the Owens vehicle. No injuries were reported, damages were est. at $700.00 to Roy's 1995 Plymouth, $3,000.00 to Koehler's 2001 Chrysler, and $500.00 to Owen's 1996 Safari Van. Roys was cited for Unsafe passing. Boone Fire rescue and Boone County Ambulance responded.

10-14-06        10:34pm  Deputy Pontius responded to a complaint of a loud party in the 1500 block of 334th. There was a live band in the area and told to quiet down as were disturbing neighbors.

10-14-06        5:52am  Deputy Elsberry responded to an alarm sounding at the United Community School, was a false alarm.

10-14-06        11:36am  Sgt Hurley responded to a complaint by a Farmer Paul Doak of Rural Ames, that someone had driven his tractor around in a pasture and bent a bale fork and 2 point hitch. Took place in the 300 block of 280th Ogden.

10-15-06        8:44pm  Deputy Pontius responded to an alarm sounding at the United Community School, was a false alarm.

10-15-06        11:08pm  Deputy Pontius and Middleton responded to a three vehicle accident 1/2 mile West of Beaver on Highway 30. Green County was at the scene as well as Green County Emergency Personnel.  Iowa D.O.T was called to assist with traffic as Highway 30 was closed for several hours.  A vehicle operated by 16 year old Logan M. Scheuerman of Jefferson was west bound on 30 and crossed the center line striking an east bound Semi-tractor trailer operated by Dennis Sheehan 63 from Ankeny, and then struck a second Semi-Tractor trailer operated by David McIntire 27 from Winona Minn. Both Semi operators were not injured, the Scheuermann boy was pronounced dead at the scene, by the Boone County Medical examiner. Investigation is continuing.

10-17-06        7:36am  Deputy Kendall responded to a complaint of cattle out on the roadway on highway 30 west of Ogden. Cattle belong to Matthew Dunn and were rounded up by the owner.

10-17-06        8:56am  Deputy Kendall investigated a car deer accident 1.5 miles West of Ames on Highway 30. Victoria E. Munoz 32 of Perry struck a deer in traffic causing $1,500.00 in damages to her 2002 Chrysler. No injuries were reported.

10-17-06        8:07pm      911 Center received a call of a reckless driver on Highway 30 near United going west bound, then the vehicle was reported to have turend around and was East bound in the West bound lanes. Boone County Deputies responded to that location and proceeded into Story County as they had no Deputy in that area, also Ames P.D. was notified, but all within a few minutes the vehicle had slammed into another east bound vehicle near Duff Ave in Ames.  Ames and Story County will complete the accident report. One person was reported to have been killed and one airlifted to a Des Moines Hospital.

10-17-06        10:07pm  Deputy Elsberry responded to a Domestic situation in the 500 block of Juniper Rd, Pilot Mound, no arrests were made.

10-18-06        1:18pm  Deputy Kendall investigated a single vehicle accident at E57 and G, Ogden.  Driver Natasha M. Hegstrom 24 of Perry lost control and rolled her vehicle onto its in the ditch. No injuries were reported, damages were est. at $1,700.00 to a 1997 Mercury Villager Van.

10-20-06        11:07am  Deputy Dominick and Ogden Officer responded to a bank alrm sounding at the City State Bank in Ogden. Turned out to b a false alarm set off by a child.

10-20-06        7:04pm  Deputy Pontius responded to a complaint of 3 sheep sheep that are constantly getting out and going to a neighbors and eating everything. Owner of the Sheep was located and said that he would like to get rid of them as his fences are not good.

10-20-06        6:12pm  A Greene County Deputy was calling for assistance as he had a Media Comm Van that was east bound and failing to stop just entering Boone County. Van was stopped and driver needed medical attention.  Driver receive medical attention at the scene by a Boone County  Ambulance with blood sugar problems.

10-21-06        12:00pm Sgt Hurley investigated a single vehicle accident 2 miles West of Boone at Juneberry and 200th. Driver Dennis E. Buchmiller 50 of Ogden stated that he was north bound on Juneberry Rd when a met another vehicle south bound in the center of the roadway, Buchmiller then swerved to avoid hitting the second vehicle and went into the ditch and struck a large tree. No injuries were reported, damages were est. at $2,500.00 to his 1992 GMC Truck.

10-23-06        10:27am  Sgt Hurley responded to a complaint of the theft of money from a home on Noble Hills Place Boone.  Complainant reported that after deer hunting he returned home to discover his front door unlocked and $2,400.00 missing from a dresser drawer.

10-24-06        1:45am  Deputy Middleton responded to a complaint of several horses running loose near the Dallas County line at C Ave and 335th. Owner of the horses was notified Ron Tolle, there were approximately 15 horses running loose.

10-24-06        2:30pm  Boone County Sheriff's Deputies took Phillip Stephens 37 of Madrid into custody at the Iowa Methodist Hospital on a Boone County warrant for failure to appear on a Boone County Warrant for O.W.I. 2nd, Bond $5,000.00. Stephens bonded out on that charge at the Boone County Jail and was then picked up by Ames P.D. on a Story County warrant for Homicide by Vehicle, Bond $100,000.00.

10-24-06        2:09pm  Cedar County informed Boone County that they had arrested a Cory Bingham 25 of Boone on a Boone County warrant, bond $900.00. Bingham will be transported to the Boone County Jail on October 25th.

10-24-06        8:20pm Perry P.D. informed Boone County that they had arrested a Ana C. Castillo 22 of Perry on a Boone County Warrant and also their own charges and will hold till their charges are completed. Castillo is wanted on a Boone County, bond $750.00.

10-25-06        10:38am  Deputy Dominick responded to a Semi Roll-over accident on Highway 144 in the Angus Curves NW of Perry.  Driver Brian Sjostrand 27 of Ashlund Missouri was operating a Semi and tanker loaded with 7,500 gallons of Ethanol, South bound on 144. Sjostrand lost control on the curve and rolled the Semi and Tanker into the ditch spilling the ethanol. Sjostrand was air lifted to Iowa Methodist in Des Moines.  Perry P.D. Ogden, P.D. Greene County Sheriff's Office, and the Iowa State Patrol were on the scene as Highway 144 was closed and at this time 1:30pm is still closed until the accident scene can be cleaned up. Rippey and Perry Fire responded, And Haz-Mat is on the scene. Accident report is not completed at this time.

10-26-06        7:21am Deputy Dominick investigated a car deer accident on Highway west of Boone near 7 Oaks. Driver Erin Sue Petty 17 of Pilot Mound struck a deer causing $1,600.00 in damages to her 1993 Taurus. She did receive a wrist injury.

10-26-06        8:41pm  Central Iowa Task Force executed a search warrant 810 5th St. Boone. Arrested was Chad Hudson 33, Stefanie Hudson 31, of that address. both charged with possession of marijuana.

10-27-06        4:42pm  Deputy Dominick investigated a two vehicle accident 1 mile east of Boone on 210th and R Ave. Christine J. Running 20 of Story City was east bound and attempted to turn left onto R Ave and crossed into the path of a west bound vehicle operated by Frank Robins 66 of Waterloo colliding at that intersection. Robins and his passenger Carolyn Robins 60 also of waterloo were taken ot the Boone County Hospital with injuries. Running was taken to Mary Greely in Ames by personal vehicle. Damages were est. at $4,500.00 to Running's 1996 Ford, and $8,500.00 to Robin's 2003 Elanta. Running was cited for failure to yield in left turn.

10-27-06        8:17pm  911 Comm. received a 911 call from a female in Madrid claiming that there was an intoxicated man in her home causing problems, then said that she would take care of the problem and hung up. Officers from Madrid and Deputy Pontius responded. Arrested at 2040 S Ave was Paul E. Klucas 46 of that address for Domestic Assault.

10-28-06        4:51pm  A  Janice Neese reported that someone had thrown eggs onto her home at 15 Beach St, Boxholm, she said that this has been an on going problem and requested extra patrol.

10-28-06        7:30pm  Deputy Naeve responded to a Combine Fire East of L Ave on 240th. Combine belonged to Daniel Crosman and fire was contained to a tire.

10-28-06        9:38pm  Deputy Naeve arrested a Edward C. Walls 41 of West Ames. Arrest was made int he 4100 block of West Ames lot 43. Walls was wanted on a Parole Violation warrant, no bond.

10-29-06        2:35am  Deputy Middleton responded to the Story County line to pick-up a prisoner arrested by Story County on a Boone County Warrant, bond $250.00 for Cody L. Witt 24 of Story City.

10-29-06        10:53am  Sgt Hurley responded to a complaint by Anjanette Wolfe of Rural Perry that there was an abandoned vehicle on her property that had skidded onto her property from 310th and almost struck her outhouse. No one around the vehicle and the vehicle was towed off property.

10-29-06        5:59pm  Deputy Ellison responded to the Story County line to pick-up a prisoner arrested by Ames P.D. on a Boone County warrant. Christine Cornwell 38 of Ames was arrested on a Boone County Mittimus to spend 5 days in the Boone County Jail, no bond.

10-28-06        11:31am  The State Patrol brought in a prisoner to the Boone County jail arrested on a Boone County warrant for vehicular homicide and OWI, stemming from the fatality accident at 270th and I Ave on May 2nd of this year.  Charged was Michael J. Caraher 38 of Jefferson. Killed in the accident was Casey Dehoet 33 of Ogden..

10-30-06        3:50pm  Deputy Rohden investigated a single vehicle accident 3 miles SE of Ogden on J Ave.  Jessica Frantum 15 of Ogden was south bound when she lost control on the gravel and went into the east ditch and struck a tree. She was taken by a personal vehicle to the Boone Count Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Damages were est at $5,000.00 to her 1997 Ford.

10-30-06        4:36pm  Deputy Rohden responded to a car deer accident at 216th 2 miles East of Ogden. Driver Toby E. Klauenberg 43 of Ogden received minor injuries and did receive treatment at the Boone County Hospital. Under $1,000 in damages to his 2002 truck.

10-31-06        12:04am  Deputy Elsberry responded to assist a Madrid Officer with an assault call in the Alley near the VFW. Madrid P.D. field charges.

10-31-06        7:12am  A Travis Houseman 31 of Boone turned himself into the County jail on a Boone County Warrant for Domestic Assault.

10-31-06        12:52pm  Sgt Moore and the Mid Iowa Task Force executed a search warrant at 2398 O Ave. During the search stolen property was recovered and drug paraphernalia.  One person was arrested for delivery of a controlled substance. Investigation and further charges are pending.  The one person arrested was Teddy J. Shanks 44 of that address. 

10-31-06        3:25pm  Deputy Rohden responded to a complaint of horse running loose int he area of 110th and P Ave, Boone. When Deputy arrived in the area he located a horse in pasture and had Communications locate the Realtor who had the property listed to notify owner.
