10-02-05    2:51am  Deputy Pontius investigated a single vehicle accident at 200th and key Ln.  Amber L. Hart 17 of Boone was west bound when she lost control on the gravel and went into the ditch, causing $4,000.00 in damages to her 1996 Grand Am. No injuries were reported.

10-02-05    11:48am  Sgt Hurley responded to a complaint of a a home that had been broken into and items removed, this was an abandoned home at 1810 H Ave, Ogden.  Vehicle was still there but no one around, the vehicle was towed, pending further investigation.

10-02-05    3:24pm  Deputy Elsberry took possession of a black powder fire arm that had been used earlier in the day and when it was fired the first time it blew up and injured Jon D. Katzenmeier 36 of Ogden. Katzenmeier was taken to the Iowa City Hospital for treatment.  This was an accident and possible malfunction or overloading of the weapon.

10-02-05    4:15pm  Deputy Elsberry arrested a Rachel L. Ferguson 19 of Boone, Ferguson turned herself into the Sheriff's Office on a Boone County warrant, for failure to appear, theft 5th, bond $500.00.

10-03-05    11:45pm  Deputy Pontius made a traffic stop at 200th and J Ave. Driver Lori Newhouse 26 of Dayton was arrested for driving while lic. revoked, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

10-05-05    7:13am  Sgt Hurley responded to a complaint of minor traffic accident on Highway 30 and Montana Rd. The operators had changed information and no report was made. Hurley did assist one operator with a flat tire change.

10-05-05    9:00am  Sheriff Fehr executed a writ of ejectment at 304 2nd St, Boone, Apt 4.  Writ was completed by 10:00am.

10-05-05    1:15pm  Sheriff Fehr executed a writ of ejectment at 810 E. 8th St. Madrid, writ was completed by 2:30pm.

10-05-05    1:37pm  Deputy Rohden responded to a complaint of a dogs killing a cat and rabbit in the 100 block of C Ave, Boxholm.  Dogs were described as a beagle and small reddish dog. owner of the dogs was notified and information given to the Humane Society.

10-05-05       6:29pm  Deputy Rohden responded to a compliant by the Union Pacific Railroad that there was male trespasser on their property east bound from the XE Crossing.  individual was not located.

10-06-05        7:26pm Deputy Rohden responded to a complaint that there was a child that was to go to a shelter by Court Order from Dallas County that was in a vehicle North bound on Highway 17. Vehicle was stopped by Deputy at 140th and Q Ave, and juvenile male suspect fled on foot, Deputy was able to run down the juvenile and take him into custody. Child was then transported tot he Dallas County Line for Dallas County Authorities to take into custody and place the child.

10-06-05        11:50am Deputy Dominick responded to a complaint of cattle running lose in the area of 800 block of 130th, Pilot Mound, were 25 head of cattle loose on the roadway.

10-07-05        5:23am The Central Iowa Task Force with information obtained from Detective Kendall executed a search warrant at 2321 K Ave, Woodward. Found was stolen property from a rural Boone County Abandoned home Ogden area. Also growing marijuana plant, and Meth.  Arrested for possession of stolen property estimated at over $500.00 in value, possession of meth and marijuana, and manufacturing marijuana was Lewis M. Mease 34 of that address, and Chandra R. Houghtaling 27 of Osceola Iowa. Both in the Boone County Jail.

10-07-05        8:13am  Deputy Elsberry started an investigation into the break in of an outbuilding overnight in the 2200 block of 310th Madrid. James Murry reported that someone had broken into a shed and taken some tools, a list will be completed as unsure as to what all is missing at this time.

10-07-05        10:32am  Deputy Elsberry responded to the Woodward Academy on a complaint that a student had brought a knife to school. The Academy had no policies on bringing a knife to school and the knife was under 5 inches long and not a criminal offense. School will take care of the matter.

10-07-05        4:15pm  Deputy Rohden investigated a two vehicle accident 2 miles West of Ames at 220th and X Ave.  Lee Cochran 35 of West Des Moines was south bound on X Ave and went through the stop sign and struck a east bound vehicle on 220th operated by Eric Burlingame 30 of Ames. No injuries were reported, damages were est at $2,500.00 to Cochran's 1994 Chevy, and $2,500 to Burlingame's 1999 Chevy Van. Cochran was cited for failure to stop at the stop sign.

10-07-05        7:04pm  Deputy Pontius responded to an alarm sounding at 849 D Ave Ogden, was a false alarm.

10-07-05        11:35pm  Deputy Dominick investigated a single vehicle accident 4.5 miles NW of Perry in the 100 block of 325th.  Terry Robertson 42 of Woodward was south bound negotiating a curve to the east when he lost control and went into the north ditch, causing $3,500.00 in damages to his 2000 Pontiac. Robertson received minor injuries and refused treatment.

10-08-05        9:05am Sgt Hurley responded to a complaint by John Pfeffer of West Ames just into Boone County at 6018 West Lincoln way. Pfeffer reported that someone had stolen his 1999 Chevy pick-up between 10pm and 9am this date.

10-08-05        3:12pm  Deputy Pontius and K-9 Taser responded to Story County to assist with Trooper who had been in pursuit of a stolen vehicle from the City of Boone. Chase was ended in the area of 1400 block of Meadow lane, Ames. Driver fled on foot. K-9 Taser was able to track suspect into a garage and suspect was apprehended without incident.

10-09-05        5:58am  Sgt Hurley investigated a single vehicle accident 2.5 miles South of Ogden.  Driver Christopher Gorocica 30 of Perry was south bound on H Ave when he lost control and rolled his vehicle into the east ditch. No injuries were reported, damages were est at $4,000.00 to his 2001 Ford Focus. Gorocica was cited for failure to maintain control.

10-09-05        11:36pm  Deputy Middleton responded to a complaint of a barking dog at 202 N 2nd Ave, Luther, Owner of the dog was spoken to and warned that a citation could be issued if the dog continues to bark.

10-11-05        4:28am  Deputy Middleton responded to the Polk County line to pick-up a prisoner Todd Pittman 43 of Des Moines. Pittman was picked up by Polk County on a Boone County warrant. Pittman was transported to the Boone County Jail.

10-11-05        9:53pm  Deputy Dominick and Middleton assisted with traffic control with a Farm Tractor that had broke down with load and had assistance arriving to unload the load on the roadway. Road was blocked for a period of time.

10-12-05        4:43pm  Deputy Rohden began an investigation of a checking account being used by an employee from a business account, this involved a day care Center in Rural Boone, 2100 block of 220th.

10-12-05        7:16pm  Deputy Pontius made a traffic stop 22nd and Nature Rd. Driver Jamie Rogers 36 of Boone was arrested for O.W.I.  1st Offense.

10-12-05        9:34pm  Deputy Pontius responded to a complaint of a semi blocking both lanes of traffic on Highway 17 between 220th and 230th.  Semi operator had attempted to turn around in the fog and jack-knifed on the roadway. Tow truck out of Ames had to be dispatched to remove off the road. Highway 17 was blocked and weather conditions had reduced visibility to 0 because of the fog. Driver Martin Bazzett 44 of Sparta Michigan was cited for Unsafe turn.

10-13-05        8:56am  Deputy Elsberry responded to a single vehicle accident on highway 144 north of Perry. Operator Corey king 23 of Des Moines was going to fast for the curve in the roadway [Angus Curve] lost control and rolled his 2002 White Semi dumping a full load of grain into the ditch. King was taken to the Dallas County Hospital for treatment, 87,000 pounds of corn were spilled into the ditch. Damages have not yet been estimated, investigation continuing.

10-13-05        6:43pm  Deputy Rohden investigated a single vehicle accident 3.5 miles East of Boone on 195th St.  Christina L. Johannes 20 of Ames was west bound on 195th approaching highway 17 and overreacted when she met an oncoming vehicle and went into the ditch and rolled her vehicle. No injuries were reported, damages were est at $1,000.00 to her 1989 Toyota.

10-13-05        12:57pm  Sgt Moore assisted by Deputies Kendall and Elsberry did a search of a residence at 559 W Ave Boone.   Found during the search was 10 grams of marijuana and one marijuana plant. Randall S. Lambert 52 of that address was arrested for possession of marijuana and manufacturing marijuana.

10-13-05        4:15pm  The Central Iowa Task Force executed a search warrant at 1810 Story St, Boone.  Found during this search was over 800 grams of marijuana tar flakes and seeds. Arrested was Chad M. Tillman 35 of that address for possession of marijuana and manufacturing marijuana.

10-13-05        5:52pm  Deputy Rohden took a report from a Sadrack L. Sporaa that at his residence in the 1500 block of S Ave Boone someone had stolen 3 5 gallon gas cans and gas, along with antique lightning rods, investigation continuing.

10-14-05        7:05am  Deputy Kendall investigated a single vehicle accident 1.2 miles North of Boone on Nature Rd.  Steven M. Smith 52 of Stratford struck a deer causing $3,000.00 in damages to his 2003 Chvey Siverado. No injuries were reported.

10-14-05        8:54am  Deputy Kendall responded to the Beaver area on a complaint that vehicles are not stopping at the stop signs in Beaver, biggest offenders according to complainant is agricultural equipment in and out of the Elevator.  Area will be watched more diligently in next couple of weeks.

10-14-05        2:15pm  Deputy Elsberry responded to a complaint by Gerri Martin of Boone that someone had stolen his hard top to his jeep. It was taken from property located in the 1000 block of 156th St, Pilot Mound, taken sometime since Oct 8th. Investigation continuing.

10-15-05        12:42am  Deputy Middleton and first responders responded to the 200 block of 1st St, Pilot Mound on a complaint of a female attempting suicide. Deputy had to take knife away from individual who was then transported as a committal.

10-15-05        2:30pm  Deputy Elsberry responded to a roll over accident north of Boone in he 500 block.  One male injured.  Accident report incomplete at this time.

10-15-05        9:21pm  Deputy Naeve responded to a single vehicle accident in the 2100 block of M Ave Woodward.  Driver Bradley D. Kuehl 41 of Woodward was north bound when he lost control and rolled his vehicle into the west ditch.  Passenger James K. Salzman 43 of Woodward was taken by Bone County Ambulance to the Boone County Hospital.  Kuehl was arrested for O.W.I. 1st Offense. Damages to the vehicle were est at $17,000.00 to a 2003 Ford F150.

10-16-05        2:45am  Deputy Naeve made a traffic stop in the 1900 block of Highway 30. Driver James Martin 19 of Norwalk, and passenger William Thomas 20 of Indianola were both cited for possession of alcohol under the legal age.

10-16-05        3:00pm  Deputy Rohden responded to a complaint of a theft of property from a garage in Luther. Amy Polich reported that a Chainsaw speakers and other items were taken from her garage sometime since October 9th. Investigation continuing.

10-16-05        4:30pm Deputy Rohden took a complaint that chickens were running at large in the 2400 block of N. Story St, Boone. Humane Society will take care of the complaint.

10-17-05        6:32am  Deputy Kendall responded to a complaint of a vehicle that was broke down and operator blowing horn.  Turned out the operator was Elizabeth A. Knof-Cheville 33 of Madrid, she was cited for driving while lic suspended. This took place in the 1900 block of Rose Rd, Madrid.

10-17-05        12:51pm  Deputy Kendall responded to a complaint of a car fire at P70 and E26.  Turned out that driver had gone around the barricades for road closer due to repaving P70, and then got off of the new pavement and hung up on dry grass and vehicle caught fire.  Timothy P. Doughty 39 of Boone was cited for Operation without registration and failure to obey a traffic control device. Ogden fire responded, damages were reported to his 1988 buick.

10-17-05        2:28pm  Deputy Rohden took a complaint from a Dianne Comstock of Pilot Mound that her debit card had been accessed through pay pal on line.  It appears a foreign country has accessed her account and her bank will look into situation.

10-18-05        10:59am  Deputy Kendall assisted the Ogden Officer and Ogden First responders with a 6 year old female that had fallen from play ground equipment at the Howe Elementary School in Ogden.  The child was taken by ambulance to the Boone County Hospital. No life threatening injury.

10-18-05        12:42pm  Deputy Kendall responded to the Woodward Academy on a complaint of an assault between student and Staff Member. Staff Member was assaulted by a 16 year old student. From Marion Indiana. Investigation continuing.

10-19-05        4:15pm  Jerrod Grant 26 of Boone turned himself into the Sheriff's Office on a Boone County Warrant, Bond $5,000.00 original charge of O.W.I. and Eluding.

10-19-05        5:34pm Deputy Rohden investigated a single vehicle accident 1/2 mile East of Quill on Highway 30. Kimberly Barrett 50 of Boone was west bound when an unidentified pick-up began making a lane change forcing Barrett to take evasive action and loose control and rolled her vehicle into the south ditch. Barrett was taken to the Boone County Hospital, damages were est at $10,000.00 to her 2000 Mercury.

10-20-05        12:55am  Deputy Pontius picked up a prisoner from a Madrid Officer who arrested a Ronald Weaver 22 of Madrid on a Green County Warrant, Madrid transported to Boone, and Deputy transported to him to the Green County Line where a Green County Deputy took custody of him.

10-20-05        11:39pm  Deputy Middleton responded to the Southern part of Boone County on Highway 169, as Dallas County was involved in high speed chase that was taking them to that area.  Boone County Deputy and Ogden Officer were in area and had deployed stop sticks, vehicle was stopped by Perry Squad car as the vehicle had gone into the ditch and the Perry officer was able to position his vehicle to prevent occupants to get out of the suspect vehicle.  Driver Jonathan Dolph was arrested by Dallas County and passenger John Evans of Polk City was taken to the Boone County hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

10-21-05        6:51am  Sgt Hurley responded to a car deer accident in the 900 block of 230th.  Driver Josh Garetson 24 of Ames struck a deer causing under $1,000.00 in damages to his 2005 GMC Truck. No injuries were reported.

Accident report from High Speed Chase on October 20th North of Perry on Highway 169.  Pursuing Perry P.D. officer James l. Graham Jr. 34 of Perry was North bound in a Fully Marked Patrol unit when suspect vehicle operated by Jonathan D. Dolph 20 of Perry lost control and went into a ditch at 240th and 169, patrol unti follwed right behind and and struck the Dolph vehicle and did pin the door so that suspects could not exit the vehicle nor move the vehicle any further.  No injures were reported, damages were est at $2,000 to the Perry Patrol Unit and $500.00 to Dolph's 1984 Oldsmobile. Doph was cited on 17 traffic violations including O.W.I. and eluding.

10-21-05        6:50am Sgt Hurley investigated a car deer accident 2.5 miles East of Ogden on 220th.  Joshua J. Garetson 24 of Ames was east bound when a deer ran out in front of him causing $4,000.00 in damages to his 2005 GMC Sierra Pick-up.   No injuries were reported.

10-21-05        7:50am Sgt Hurley investigated a car-deer accident 10. miles North of Ogden on H Ave.  Shelby L. Larson 31 of Dayton was south bound when a deer ran out in front of her, causing $3,000.00 in damages to her 1995 Jeep, no injuries were reported.

 10-22-05        10:05am  Sgt Hurley responded to a complaint of an abandoned vehicle at 1707 L Ave. The vehicle a 1984 Oldsmobile had the ignition popped out and radio removed. Owner could not be located out of Woodward to determine if it had been stolen or not, vehicle was towed.

10-24-05        3:47am  Deputy Middleton responded to a medical assist at Quartz Ave near the Railroad tracks. Driver for a railroad van had her hip dislocated and needed medical attention.

10-24-05        9:17am  Detective Kendall responded to Burnside Iowa to investigate a complaint by the Grand Community Schools of Vandalism done to the Boxholm School on Sept 24th. The School just reported this incident ton Friday October 21st.  Charged was Justin Scully 18 of Harcourt for Trespassing and Criminal Mischief.

10-25-05        12:00am  Deputy Pontius responded to a complaint of a vehicle in the ditch in the 1200 block of J Ave Boone.  Individual at that location denied being the operator and was arrested for Public Intoxication. That person was Luis G. Cautino-Riviva 37 of Coralville Iowa.

10-25-05        7:09am  Detective Kendall and Deputy Elsberry assisted the Boone Police Dept. with an Investigation that started near the Short Stop Station in East Boone.  Investigation continuing with suspects involved in burglaries.

10-25-05        8:51am  Deputy Mitchell arrested a Brad Weber, Weber was turned himself into the Sheriff's Office on a Boone County Warrant.. Contempt of Court.

10-25-05        3:48pm Deputy Rohden responded to a complaint by Cynthia Mallette that someone had scattered nails and screws in her driveway in the 900 block of 192nd St, Boone. Investigation continuing.

10-25-05        9:03pm  The Communications Center received a 911 call from an address in the 2300 block of Pecan Dr. Madrid.  Caller stated address and hung up.  Deputies arrived and found man in front yard unconscious, and needed medical attention, believe individual  had consumed alcohol and mixed with some other type of drug, was transported to the Boone County Hospital.

10-26-05        8:53am  Sheriff Fehr Executed a writ of ejectment at 2273 160th, Ames.

10-26-05        9:52am  Sgt Hurley responded to a complaint of cattle running loose on the roadway at 310th and Violet, Madrid. Owner was located and removed cattle.

10-26-05        12:10pm  Sgt Hurley responded to an incomplete 911 to the 500 block of Juniper Rd, both parties involved said that there was a verbal domestic situation and that everything was O.K. when officer arrived.

10-26-05        3:49pm  Chief Deputy Mitchell arrested a Richard D. Brown 34 of Boone at the Boone County Jail, Brown turned himself into the Jail on a Boone County Warrant, for non payment of child support, bond $2,000.00.

10-26-05        6:41pm  Jailer Carter responded to Tama County to pick-up a prisoner James Comstock who was arrested by Toleda Police on a Boone County Warrant, Bond $800.00 for failure to appear.

10-26-05        10:46pm  Deputy Rohden investigated a single vehicle accident 3 miles SW of Gilbert on 160th St.  Katie L. Bettis 17 of Ames was east bound on 160th and X Ave, fishtailed and lost control striking a county bridge going almost backwards at the time impact. Bettis was taken to Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames by a private vehicle. Damages were est at $8000.00 to her 2001 Dodge. Also $50.00 was reported damaged to the reflective bridge marker.

10-27-05        8:30am  Sgt Hurley began an investigation of a single vehicle accident that took place overnight approximately 3:00am and was not called in until 8:30am by the Driver. That driver was Philip R. Phipps 36 of Stratford, he stated that an animal ran out in front of him causing him to loose control when he swerved to miss it and rolled his vehicle into the south ditch of 140th St, 5 miles North of Boone, just off Nature Rd. Damages were est at $4,000.00 to his 1996 GMC Truck. No injuries were reported.  Phipps was cited for failure to maintain control.

10-27-05        1:13pm  Detective Kendall assisted the Boone Police with information that resulted in the recovery of a stolen fuel tank off a Semi that belonged to Madden Trucking in Boone, and was stolen in July this past year. Stolen property was recovered at 538 Juniper Rd, Pilot Mound and investigation continuing

10-27-05        3:18pm  Deputy Elsberry began an investigation of a two vehicle accident 3.5 miles east of Boone on 30. Nancy VanCannon 47 of Boone was west bound on 30 when a non contact vehicle came across from T Ave and was not able to completely cross the lanes, forcing VanCannon to slow and was struck from behind by another vehicle who then left the scene. The Non Contact vehicle also left the area. Investigation continuing. Damges to VanCannon's 1990 GEO was estimated at $2,000.00. No injuries were reported.

10-27-05        4:56pm  Deputy Elsberry began an investigation of a theft of a car stereo from a vehicle that was parked at 1007 22nd St, Boone.  Owner Bonita Kingsbury of Ames.

10-27-05        5:28pm  Deputy Elsberry responded to a motorcycle accident at 210th and T Ave, Boone. State Patrol will complete the personal injury accident.

10-27-05        8:43pm  Deputy Pontius responded to 333rd Rd, Just North of the Woodward State Hospital on a complaint of a car-horse accident.  Connie J Aarons-Haggen 43 of Ogden struck a horse. Investigation continuing. No injuries were reported.

10-28-05        9:18am  Sgt Hurley responded to a complaint of a large plastic container along the roadside in the 1400 block of W Ave, turned out to be along a small creek and someone was putting minnows in the container and left it behind.

10-28-05        2:00pm  Ledges Park Officer reported that he had found a sword and sheath for the sword at a Shelter house on State Property. Placed in lost and found.

10-29-05        2:04am  Deputy Naeve responded to a complaint of a motorcycle accident in the 700 block of Nature Rd, North of Boone.  Driver Jerry Sherrard 29 of Pilot Mound was north bound when he lost control, went into the east ditch and struck a field drive, launching both himself and motorcycle. Sherrard received minor injuries, and was arrested for O.W.I. His 1989 Harley Davidson received $8,000.00 in damages.

10-29-05        8:55am  Deputy Ellison made a traffic stop just south of Highway 30 on Highway 17. Driver Andrew D. Horn 21 of Des Moines was arrested for O.W.I.

10-29-05        3:15pm  Deputy Rohden began an investigation of a burglary at 1102 188th Rd, Boone.  Lynnette McPherson reported that someone had entered her home sometime since Thursday October 27th and removed over $6,000.00 in Jewelry and electronics, Investigation continuing.

10-30-05      10:43pm  Deputy Godzicki along with Ogden P.D. made a traffic stop on highway 30 east of J Ave. There had been a complaint that the driver was having a hard time keeping the vehicle between the lines. Driver Michael J. Romore 28 of Des Moines was arrested for Driving while under the influence of Drugs, Marijuana.

10-30-05        1:11pm  Deputy Elsberry responded to a call of a house fire in the 2200 block of K Ave, Woodward. Turned out to be a barn fire, Woodward fire and Madrid fire responded.

10-30-05        4:55pm  Deputy Rohden and Boone a Boone Officer responded to assist Jail staff with a fight in the jail.  Inmate Daniel Vinnece 33 of Boone assaulted Richard Brown 34 of Boone.  Brown was treated for injuries at the Boone County Hospital, charges are pending against Vinnece.

10-31-05        7:40am  Deputy Elsberry investigated a two vehicle accident 3 miles East of Ogden on 216th.  Dustin M. Ross 20 of Boone was west bound when he struck the shoulder of the roadway over corrected and lost control, striking a mailbox and an east bound vehicle operated by Teresa M. Dawdy 49 of Ogden.  No injuries were reported, damages were est at $1,000.00 to Dawdy's 1998 Ford Taurus, and $800.00 to a 1994 Ford 3 ton truck owned by the Boone County Engineer's Office. Also $50.00 to a mailbox owned by Bob Christner of 993 216th Dr, Ogden.

10-31-05        9:21pm  Jessica Hicks of Rural Pilot Mound reported that she had heard a vehicle drive by and stop, shortly after that she heard a loud bang and her mailbox was blown up. Deputy Dominick responded, this took place in the 400 block of I Ave, Pilot Mound.
