5-01-07                           1:00pm  Sgt Hurley and Sheriff Fehr arrested a Bobby Watson 27 of Ames at 1327 XB Place, Vending Americas business. Vending Americas reported $1060.00 in cash stolen on April 19th, surveillance was set up and Watson was caught attempting to take approximately $2,000.00 this afternoon. Watson is in the Boone County Jail on charges of 2nd degree theft.

 

5-01-07                           5:23pm  Deputy Naeve arrested a Joyce A. Williams 49 of Boone on a Boone County Warrant for failure to appear, original charge fraud, bad check, bond $350.00.

 

5-01-07                           10:20pm  Deputy Godzicki arrested a Johnnie R. Phipps 26 of Boone on a Boone County Warrant for probation revocation, original charge driving while barred, bond $1,000.00.

 

5-01-07                           10:58pm  Deputy Dominick arrested a Carrie D. Lowe 27 of Woodward on a Greene County warrant for contempt of court original charge of possession of meth, bond serve 5 days in jail or pay fines. Transported to the Greene County line.

 

5-02-07                           2:40am  Deputy Godzicki attempted to make a traffic stop on R38 just north of 30, when vehicle fled scene, vehicle was found in the 1000 block of R38. Driver Demetrius T. Armstead 25 of Des Moines was arrested for driving while license suspended X3, expired registration, and interference with official acts.

 

5-02-07                           9:36am  Sheriff Fehr took a report from a Hollis Shadle of Fraser that someone had stolen his aluminum boat from his pond. He had information where the boat may be. After further investigation the boat was located and charges are pending further investigation. The boat had been sold to a Junk dealer in Boxholm.

 

5-02-07                           9:13pm  Deputy Naeve responded to Highway 30 and Montana on a complaint by Paul Irlbeck 42 of Boone that someone had stolen his Mongoose mountain bike and beverage cans that he was picking up along the roadway.

 

5-02-08                           4:54pm  Deputy Elsberry responded to a complaint that there was a gas drive off at the South Side Kum and Go in Boone. Description of vehicle was given as gray chevy trailblazer. Investigation continuing with Boone P.D.

 

5-03-07             11:16pm Deputy Godzicki responded to a complaint of loud campers at the Ledges State Park, camp sites were located and campers told to quiet down.

 

5-04-07            12:59pm  Deputy Pontius responded to the Woodward Academy on a complaint that marijuana had been  located and taken from a client. Arrested for possession of marijuana was Taylor Kraus 15 of Des Moines.

5-05-07            10:46am  Deputy Pontius responded to a complaint of a possible trespasser at 208th and Juneberry Rd at a construction site. Joshua J. Steele 45 of Hudson Wisconsin was charged with failure to obey a traffic control device.

5-05-07            1:36pm  Deputy Pontius responded to a complaint of horses running loose on highway 30 near the trailer PArk east of Ogden. Horses were rounded up before officer arrived.

5-06-07            2:36am Deputy Rohden responded to a complaint of incomplete 911 call from on V Ave, everything checked out O.K.

5-06-07            12:19pm Deputy Pontius responded to a Barn fire at 2267 K Ave, Woodward, the Sprott's property. No one was injured, Woodward and Madrid Fire Departments responded, alng with a Boone County Ambulance.

5-06-07            10:23pm  Deputy Dominick responded to the Ledges State Park on a complaint by a camper that he had set up camp earlier inthe day and returned to find all of his property had been stolen from his camp site #42. Takne was a Coleman cot, 2 coleman sleeping bags 2 stoves and 3 gas cans and 2 coolers, all valued at around $500.00. Owner was James Johnson 49 of Ames.

5-07-07            9:26pm  Deputy Dominick responded to a complaint of a residence that had been broken into during the day. Lewis Mease of Rural Woodward reported that someone had entered his home and broke a window, damage also done to a bi screen T.V. damages totaled over $3,000.00.

5-08-07            4:55am  Deputy Godzicki responded to a complaint of two deer on the roadway, one reported to still be alive. Deputy removed two deer from the roadway at 144 and 325th, Perry Area.

5-08-07            7:40pm  Deputy Pontus responded to an alarm sounding at Caruth Construction in West Ames, was a false alarm.

5-08-07            10:08pm  Deputy Pontius responded to a complaint of a possible drunk driver on Highway 30. Vehicle was located and stopped near S. Marshall and Highway 30 in Boone. Driver was not intoxicated although she had no insurance and was cited for failure to secure a child in a safety seat. Charged was Kathrine A. Coghlan 17 of Ames.

5-08-07            11:59pm  Deputy Godzicki made a traffic stop in the 900 block of 170th. Driver Brian Williams 19 of Fort Dodge was cited for possession of alcohol under the legal age, careless driving, and failure to have a valid drivers License. 

5-09-07            1:05am  Deputy Dominick made a traffic stop and charged the driver Ryan Pepples 16 of  Boone for driving whiel license suspended 2 counts and possession of marijuana, his parents were notified to pick him up at the Sheriff's Office.

5-09-07            4:58am  Deputy Godzicki responded to a complaint of a bat in a home at 1926 205th Street, Boone.

5-09-07            9:00am  Sheriff Fehr executed a writ of ejectment at 1616 3rd St, Boone. Writ was completed with assistance from the Boone Police at 11:30am.

5-09-07            10:01am  Sgt Hurley responded to a complaint of a Burglary at the Basil Restaurant in West Ames. Stolen was prime rib and pork loins also stolen was a Fax Machine, total value of stolen property est. at $600.00.

5-09-07            4:30pm Deputy Elsberry responded to a complaint of copper wiring and pipes were stolen from a residence in the 1200 block of 198th Rd.

5-09-07            7:06pm  Deputy Elsberry responded to a complaint of tires vandalized in the 600 block of  Nature Rd. at a residence. 2 tires were reported slashed.

5-09-07            9:41pm  All Cars were informed of a gas drive off at the South side Kum and Go in Boone. $30.00 Worth of gas was reported stolen, Vehicle located by Boone P.D.

5-10-07            9:07am  Sgt Hurley responded to Boxholm on a complaint of a tanker truck leaking Anhydrous, employee and Deputy checked tanker and tightened valves but could not find any leaks.

5-10-07            5:55pm  Deputy Elsberry arrested a Shadd J. Henderson 34 of Dana Iowa at the Don Williams Camp ground on a Webster County warrant for contempt of court, also was charged with possession of marijuana. and taken to the Boone County Jail.

5-10-07            11:05pm  State Patrol arrested a Edward Walls 42 of Ames on a Boone County warrant and transported him to the Boone County Jail. Warrant was for probation revocation, original charge possession of meth with intent to deliver, bond $3,000.00.

5-11-07            3:21am  Deputy Godzicki began an investigation after two men had contacted the Sheriff's Office and explained that they had just given a man a ride into Boone and dropped him off near the Boone Hy-Vee. The men explained that they had come in contact with this person after he had struck a mail box and told the two men he was intoxicated and not to call the police and give him a ride to Boone, hi took place it in the 1400 block of F Ave. While taking this man to Boone he told the two that the vehicle a black Taurus was stolen. Deputy Godzicki went balk to the scene and located the Taurus and had the VIN ran it did not come back stolen, owner out of Ames. Investigation continuing, vehicle impounded.

5-11-07            3:20pm  Deputy Elsberry responded to a complaint for items taken from an auction site in the 1900 block of 330th. An individual from Osceola Iowa had purchased 2 rotary mowers and now they were gone when he went to pick them them up. Items are to picked up day of sale which was a week ago, this is now a civil matter.

5-12-07            4:45pm  Deputy Elsberry responded to a complaint of a field fire at Highway 30 and D Ave, Ogden, Ogden Fire dispatched, there was some possible damage to railroad ties because of the fire.

5-12-07            7:09pm  Deputy Elsberry arrested a Cassandra Doran 21 of Boone on a Boone County warrant for probation revocation, she had turned herself into the Sheriff's Office. No Bond.

5-14-07            2:17am  Deputy Dominick investigated a single vehicle accident 5 miles East of Boone. Ryan L. Pervier 26 of Boone was west bound on 190th when he lost control and rolled his vehicle into the north ditch. When officer arrived no one was at the location. Driver was found later and charged with failure to report injury accident and failure to maintain control. Pervier had minor injuries and had called a friend  to take him home instead of reporting the accident. His 2004 P.T. Cruiser received $6,500.00 in damages.

5-18-07            12:01am  Deputy Dominick responded to a complaint of smoke in the down stairs of a home at 953 I Ave, Pilot Mound, Ogden fire and first responders and Boone Ambulance responded. After responding discovered that the address was 492  I Ave, Pilot Mound. No one was injured and investigation is continuing.

5-18-07            6:17am  Deputy Pontius arrested a Keith A. Allen 44 of Ogden, after he turned himself into the Sheriff's Office on a Boone County Warrant, original charge Public Intoxication,  bond $500.00.

5-18-07            6:11pm  Deputy Elsberry responded to a complaint by a Howard Williams that someone had broken into his home in the 600 block of Nature Rd. Window was broken and someone had gone through the house, nothing reported missing at this time.

5-19-07            2:43am  Deputy Dominick responded to a complaint by the Ledges Officer of a vehicle in the ditch at the entrance to the Canyon Rd. Driver Cassandra Prindle 19 of Urbandale Iowa was arrested for O.W.I. and possession of alcohol under the legal age. no damages were reported to her vehicle. Passengers Danielle Hargens 20 of Manning, and Bradley Molle 20 of Nevada were charged with possession of Alcohol under the legal age.

5-19-07            1:15pm  Sgt. Hurley investigated a two vehicle accident 4 miles NW of Ames at 190th and Y Ave. Robert D. Groth 51 of Woodward was stopped at a stop sign, when an agriculture sprayer turned onto that roadway where Groth was stopped and ran over the front of the Groth vehicle. The Ag equipment was operated by Scott A. Drey 30 of Elkhart for Crop production services of Boone. Injured was Diane K. Groth 54 of Woodward a passenger in the Groth vehicle, she was taken by Ambulance to Mary Greeley in Ames. Damages were est. at $5000.00 to Groth's 2007 Spectra, and no damages to the John Deere Equipment.

5-19-07            4:59pm  Deputy Pontius responded to a complaint of 4 wheelers trespassing on private property just west of the wagon wheel bridge, NW of Boone. Deputy located the vehicles, one operator Richard L. Thompson 40 of Boone was arrested on an outstanding Warran County Warrant, and also charged with Operating a non-registered vehicle, and driving while license suspended. The operator Roger L. Low 40 of Boone was charged with driving while revoked and operating a non-registered vehicle.

5-19-07            7:59pm  Deputy Pontius responded to a domestic situation in the 1800 block of Rose Rd, Madrid. Arrested for Domestic assault was Meghan Weineke 23 of Cedar Bluffs Nebraska.

5-20-07            11:08am  Sgt Hurley investigated a car deer accident that took place the night before, Tracy Keasey 43 of Ogden, struck a deer in the 200 block of 260th, Ogden, and caused about $1,000.00 in damages to her 2001 Monte Carlo. No injuries were reported.

5-21-07            9:15am Sgt. Hurley responded to a Burglary that had taken place at the Twister Lounge in Pilot Mound, over night. Two gambling ticket machines had been broken into, and approximately $600.00 taken from the machines, investigation continuing.

5-21-07            11:13am  Sgt Hurley responded to an ambulance assist with a possible heart attack in the1100 block of J Ave Ogden.

5-21-07            2:37pm  Deputy Elsberry responded to a complaint of a trespasser on railroad property at Quartz Ave Railroad crossing. Arrested for Trespassing was Mark W. Nichols 36 of Sioux Falls South Dakota.

5-23-07            8:10am  Sheriff Fehr arrested a Brian J. Williams 19 of Fort Dodge on a Boone County warrant at the Sheriff's Office, Williams turned himself in. The Warrant is for Arson in the 1st degree, bond $250,000.00. This arrest was a result of the investigation of the incident that took place on May 18th on I Ave.

5-24-07            4:11am  Deputy Rohden responded to an alarm at Kinzler Construction in the 2300 block of 230th Ames. False Alarm.

5-24-07            5:43am  Deputy Pontius responded to a theft of cash from Northern Natural Gas of Rural Ogden. A window was reported broken and employee cash reported missing, est amount missing $100.00 investigation continuing.

5-24-07            7:05am  Deputy Pontius responded to the Woodward State Hospital grounds on a medical assist with a broken leg, Woodward Rescue responded, along with Madrid Fire.

5-24-07            9:00am  Sheriff Fehr executed a writ of ejectment at 815 1/2 Story Apt. 2. Property removed and completed by 9:45am.

5-24-07            9:30am  Deputy Pontius responded to a medical assist along highway 30. Driver called 911 and needed an ambulance as could not drive any further, was on way to Mary Greeley in Ames. Mary Greeley Ambulance responded.

5-25-07            2:36am  Deputy Dominick responded to a complaint of a domestic situation at 657 L Ave, Ogden. Arrested for Domestic Assault was Jeffrey A. Kester 26 of that address.

5-25-07            10:24am  Sgt. Hurley responded to the Untied Community School as Principle was having problem with a student. Student Patrick L/ Reed 12 of Boone was charged with simple assault on the Principle, and released to his parent.

5-25-07            12:53pm  Sgt. Hurley took a theft report from a Stephen Rockwell of Fraser, Rockwell reported that he had a check book stolen and now checks are being written on that account, so far $281.00 of checks have been written, investigation is continuing.

5-25-07            11:04pm  Deputy Pontius located an illegal fire at the E57 Boat Ramp, after further investigation two were charged with under age possession of alcohol, charged was Jordan Reckman 16 of Ogden, and Benjamin R. Nida 17 of Ogden. Deputy Godzicki located a 3rd person and cited Paul M. Branaman 17 also of Ogdem for possession of alcohol under the legal age.

5-26-07            11:02am  Sgt. Hurley responded to an alarm sounding at Kinsey Construction int he 2300 block of 230th, was a false alarm.

5-26-07            12:27pm  Sgt. Hurley responded to a complaint of a clothes dryer that had been thrown out onto the roadway on R Ave just north of 150th. County Road Dept was informed for removal.

5-27-07            2:31am  Deputy Godzicki made a traffic stop in the 1500 block of Highway 30 as the driver was speeding, after further investigation the Driver Anthony L. Hytreck 17 of Pisgah Iowa was charged with Speeding, driving while License Suspended, and failure to file SR22.

5-27-07            6:14am  Sgt. Hurley responded to a complaint by Karen Williams in the 600 block of Nature Rd, that someone had vandalized her home by spray painting on the vinyl siding on the home.  Karen had heard noises in the nigth around 3:30am, and two men were seen running north from the house, she did not see the damages until morning.

5-27-07            10:57am  Sgt. Hurley responded to a complaint by Jerome Behn that someone had vandalized the Timber Creek Estates Sign in the 1200 block of Quill Rd, est. damages at $500.00.

5-28-07            11:10am  The Boone County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from a man who said that he had accidentally shot himself while he was in the process of shooting a dog, the caller gave directions to dispatch saying he was west of highway 169 on E57 on a sheep farm just before you get to the bridge. Sgt. Hurley, Ogden Fire, Ogden P.D., Boone County Ambulance and Mercy One were dispatched to the scene. The Caller died of his injuries when Officers arrived. The Person was identified as 29 year old Michael S. Hill of 602 I Ave, Pilot Mound. The D.C.I. and State Medical Examiner are assisting in the investigation. Investigation Continuing.

5-28-07            9:40pm  Deputy Rohden investigated  pick-up and deer accident 3 miles south of Boone on 250th. Kenneth C. Ganzer 20 of Ames struck a deer, causing $1,000.00 in damages to his 2000 Ford F150. No injuries were reported.

5-29-07            11:00am  Deputy Pontius responded to the Woodward Academy on a complaint of an assault. Charged with assault on an instructor and another student was Norton Jackson 15 of Perry.

5-29-07            2:34pm  Deputy Pontius investigated a to vehicle accident at 250th and Quill Ave. Ivy M. Miller 28 of Luther was north bound on Quill when she failed to make a complete stop at the stop and struck a west bound vehicle operated by Ricky D. Hansen 45 of Ames. Both drivers were injured and taken to the Boone County Hospital by Ambulance. State Patrol and Boone Fire were on the scene. Damages were est. at $6,000.00 to Miller's 1998 Venture Mini Van, and $9,000.00 to Hanson's DNR owned vehicle. It was a 2004 Ford Taurus.

5-30-07            1:03am  Deputy Rohden began an investigation of a stolen 4 Wheeler from 733 Q Ave, Boone. Jason Ahrens reported his Yamaha 4 wheeler had just been stolen, Investigation continuing.

5-30-07            3:57am Deputy Rohden investigated a single vehicle accident 2 miles NE of Boone on R Ave. Jeffrey A. Courtney 18 of Ogden was North bound when he said a deer ran out in front of him, causing him to loose control and swerve into the west ditch. Courtney received minor injuries but refused treatment. Damages were est. at $2,000.00 to his 1995 Pontiac.
