5-01-06        9:56pm  Deputy Middleton investigated a Pick-up deer accident 1/2 mile east of Boone in the 1600 block of Highway 30.  Charles A. Payne 42 of Boone struck a deer, causing $1,500.00 in damages to his 2000 Dodge Pick-up. No injuries were reported.

5-02-06        10:36am  Detective Kendall escorted a Prisoner Chris Miller 20 of Pilot Mound, from the Court room after sentencing, he was taken to the Boone County Jail to be held until later transported to Oakdale, on a two year sentence for burglary.

5-02-06        11:20am  Sgt Hurley and Detective Kendall responded to an incomplete 911 in the 1100 block of T Ave, Vehicles was in garage, and no one was answering door or phone, Deputies then forced way into home for possible medical emergency, No one was at the residence, later owner located.

5-02-06        12:15pm  Sgt Hurley and Deputies from the Boone County Sheriff's Office responded to a two vehicle accident at the intersection of 270th [E57] and County Rd I Ave. Southeast of Ogden.  A 1980 Honda Motorcycle was west bound on 270th while a 2002 Chevy Pick-up operated by Michael Caraher 37 of Ogden south bound drove into the path of the Motorcycle. The Motorcycle then struck the left front fender of the pick-up. The Motorcycle operator was pronounced dead at the scene. The Identity of the Motorcycle operator will not be released pending notification of relatives, he was not wearing a helmet. Caraher was not injured. The Boone County Ambulance, Ogden first responders and Fire Dept, and the Iowa State Patrol assisted at the scene. Investigation is continuing. 270th [ E57] is a paved County Rd and had the right of way. Name of the victim is Casey G. DeHoet 33 of Ogden.

5-02-06        2:37pm Deputy Elsberry responded to the Boys and Girls Home in West Ames, A teenage girl from the facility had ran from the building with a broken beer bottle, she did cut herself and required medical attention at the Boone County Hospital, where she was released to her mother.

5-02-06        5:19pm  Larry Morgan 22 of Madrid was transported from a State Facility to the Boone County Jail on a Boone County Warrant for probation revocation, bond, $15,000.00.

5-03-06        6:44pm  Deputy Rohden responded to a complaint by a Motorist from West Des Moines that there were several nails spilled onto Highway 30 west of the Des Moines River Bridge. Deputy and complainant picked up as many nails as they could and swept area.

5-03-06        7:43pm  Deputy Elsberry responded to a complaint that there was wood chunks scattered on the roadway of Highway 30 near 7 Oaks. Deputy cleaned up the area.

5-03-06        8:55pm Deputy Elsberry responded to a complaint of a utility pole that was down and sparking East of Angus Curves on Highway 144 north of Perry. When deputy arrived and Perry officers they checked the entire area and were not able to locate such a pole and persons in the area appeared to have power.  No complaints were received by power co. of any power outages.

5-05-06        7:37pm  Deputy Godzicki responded to a complaint of a grass fire along a ditch in teh 1200 block of  Highway 30 East bound. Boone Fire and Ogden Fire dispatched as the fire was between 1200-1400 blocks on both sides of the Des Moines River.

5-05-06        11:36pm  Deputy Dominick located under age persons possessing alcohol at the Ledges State Park. The following were charged with possession of Alcohol under the legal age:  Scott W. Deger 19 of Palatine Illinois, Scott M. Welter 19 of Dubuque Iowa, Kimberly A. Norvel 19 of Ames, Clinton J. Pickard 19 of State Center Iowa, and Michal F. Deger 17 of Palatine Illinois.

5-05-06        10:48pm  Deputy Godzicki made a traffic stop on Highway 17 just south of 290th.  Driver was taking a female individaul to the Boone County hospital who had been assaulted by Boy Friend.   Boy Friend Justin Robinson 22 of Boone was arrested for Domestic Assualt at the Boone County Jail at 2:27am. Robinson had turned himself into the Jail to serve time on another matter.

5-06-06        12:45am  Ames P.D. arrested a Anthony A. Patterson 34 of Madrid on a Boone County warrant $300.00 bond for failure to provide food and water to animals X 3.

5-06-06        3:26pm  Deputy Dominick responded to a complaint by Craig Cornelious that someone had stolen his deer stand and 3 ladder straps in the 1400 block fo 334th St. Last seen on March 24th. Investigation continuing.

5-06-06        5:04pm  Deputy Dominick responded to a complaint of a dog barking and running loose in Beaver. Owner of the dog was spoken to and dog was not running loose at the time.

5-06-06        10:20pm  Deputy Ellison investigated a single vehicle accident 5 miles NE of Madrid in the 2000 block of 320th. Kyle P. Domino 17 of Huxley was east bond on 320th when he lost control and went into the north ditch through a feild fence and landing into the field. Damages were est at $3,500.00 to to a 1996 Chevy Corsica. Minor injuires to the driver were reported. Owner of Field was Carroll Michael of Rural Madrid.

5-08-06        6:24am  Deputy Kendall investigated a single vehicle accident 3.5 miles West of Boone on Highway 30.  Carli R. Glover 22 of Ames struck a deer causing $2,000.00 in damages to her 1989 Chevy Blazer, no injuries were reported.

5-08-06        11:16am Sgt Hurley responded to a complaint by John Huffman of Woodward that his lawn mower had been stolen from the Lawn Mower Shop in Luther. Mr. Huffman left his John Deere Lawn Mower just outside the shop for repairs at 6:30am, when shop owner came into to open up the Lawn Mower was already gone. Investigation continuing.

5-08-06        7:42pm  Deputy Rohden responded to a complaint in the 100 block of X Ave Story City. A woman said that she awoke to man standing over her kissing her, and that the man then fled her home in a Blue Pick-up. She could identify the man as Matthew Larson of Ellsworth Iowa. Larson was located and arrested for criminal trespassing. Larson 35 had not been able to leave the residence and was held by the woman's husband until officer arrived.

5-09-06        7:10am  Sgt Hurley responded to a complaint of cattle running loose on the roadway along county road E18 and R27, North of Boone, when Hurley arrived owners were rounding cattle up.

5-09-06        5:39pm Bonds brought in Gloria K. Terrell 19 of Boone on a Boone County Warrant, from the Polk County Jail, bond $300.00. for contempt of court.

5-09-06        Deputy Rohden responded and investigated a 3 vehicle accident at L Ave and 238th.  Vernon Carpenter 53 of Boone was southbound on L Ave stopped with left turn signal on waiting for on coming traffic to clear, when he was struck from the rear by James Stumbo 18 of Boone, Stumbo had just crested a hill and was unable to stop in time before hitting the Carpenter vehicle which then proceeded to hit the on coming traffic which was a north bound vehicle operated by Daniel A. Dillavou 46 of Boone. No injuries were reported, damages were est. at $6,000.00 to Stumbo's 2000 Buick, $3,500.00 to Carpenter's 2004 Chevy, and $3,500.00 to Dillavou's 2002 Ford.  Stumbo was cited for failure to stop within assured clear distance.

5-10-06        9:32am  Deputy Dominick responded to Pilot Mound on a complaint from Doris Hunter that someone had shot a window on the south side of her home, it appears that it had been struck by a BB or pellet.

5-10-06        10:58am  Sgt Moore arrested a Manuel A. Gonzalez-Santos 18 of Boone on a Story County Warrant, bond $10,000.00 for possession of marijuana.  Transported to the Story County Line. Arrest made a 203 S. Ringold, Boone.

5-10-06        2:37pm  Deputy Rohden responded to a residential alarm in the 1400 block of 270th Madrid.  False alarm.

5-10-06        5:20pm  Polk County Contacted Boone County after arresting a Brad M. Golwitzer 22 of Algona, he is wanted on a Boone County Warrant, bond $5,000.00 for probation revocation.

5-11-06        4:30pm  Ogden Police arrested a Richard A. Bardole 54 of Ogden at his residence after an investigation By Ogden Police and the Boone County Sheriff's Office on allegations of inappropriate touching of students. Bardole is a Middle School Music teacher, and faces 3 counts of Sexual Exploitation by a School Employee, 2 are aggravated misdemeanors and 1 a class D Felony, bond has been set at $23,000.00.  A Criminal charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

5-11-06        5:06pm  Webster County S.O. met Chief Deputy Mitchell at the Webster/Boone County Line to pick-up a prisoner Brandon Gleason 24 of Boone who was arrested in Fort Dodge on a Boone County Warrant, failure to appear Burglary warrant, bond $7,500.00.

5-12-06        3:11pm  Deputy Dominick responded to a call of a home that had been burglarized in the 2000 block of 170th St, Boone. Owner reported door was forced open and taken was an Xbox and games. Investigation continuing.

5-12-06        5:01pm  Deputy Dominick responded to an assist with animal control.  A Jodi Sward reported that her dog had been attacked by a dog owned by Ed Long and the Long dog was still on the Sward Property on Jonquil Lane, Boone. The attacking dog was taken into custody and charges pending for allowing dog to run at large. The Other dog was taken to a vet with injuries.

5-12-06         10:57pm  Deputy Godzicki  made a traffic stop in Pilot Mound, Driver Brian J. Williams was arrested for driving while License revoked.

5-12-06        11:36pm  Deputy Middleton responded to the Polk County line in Madrid to pick-up a prisoner from West Des Moines P.D.  Arrested was Tiffany Shuey 19 of Altoona on a Boone County Warrant, bond $300.00 for a bad check.

5-13-06        11:57am  Sgt Hurley began an investigation of the theft of a prescription drug Oxycodone from a vehicle at a construction site on South Division south of  Park Ave. Keith McDonald reported the theft of his prescription.

5-14-06        1:50am  Deputy Middleton and Godzicki responded to Spills Bar in Boone, after Boone P.D. requested assistance with a Bar fight.

5-14-06        1:01pm  Sgt Hurley assisted a stalled motorist with a flat tire near the United Community School, changed tire.

5-14-06        6:14pm  Deputy Rohden responded to a complaint by Weslie Phipps in the 200 block of L road that someone had dumped car parts and garbage on his property.

5-14-06        7:56pm  The office was notified by Woodward Resource Center that one of their clients was missing and also a Van. The Van a few short minutes later was involved in a roll-over accident in Dallas County, where there were injuries reported.

5-15-06        5:34am  Deputy Middleton responded to a complaint of a vehicle that was rolled over into a ditch int he 2000 block of Owl Ave, Woodward, no one was around the vehicle and registered owner could not be located, investigation continuing, the vehicle a 1997 Chrysler was towed and had received damages. Driver was later identified as Cody M. Johnson 20 of Woodward, he was cited for No Insurance and no valid drivers License. The 1997 Chrysler received $7,000.00 in damages.

5-15-06        2:49pm  Deputy Rohden responded to a complaint by Kent Reynoldson of Boone that property he controls had been vandalized in the 300 block of Nature Rd, the home in that location had windows broken out and siding and doors damaged with what appeared to be an Axe.  Investigation continuing.

5-15-06        4:30pm Search warrant was executed at 703 Marion St, Boone with Boone P.D. Richard Herrington 32 of that address was arrested for possession of marijuana 3rd Offense and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Zachary Kochel 17 of Boone was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and turned over to his mother. Jacob Kochel 18 of Ames was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.

5-15-06        6:11pm  Deputy Rohden responded to a compliant of a home broken into in the 400 block of W Ave, taken was a play station II and games, investigation continuing  $550.00 value of stolen property.

5-15-06        6:42pm  Deputy Elsberry responded to a complaint of screens removed from a Mobile home and air compressor stolen from the shed at 6100 West Lincoln way Lot 42, Ames.  Investigation continuing.

5-15-06        7:21pm  The Office took a complaint from a property owner in the 2000 block of 120th Story City that someone had entered his home between 8am--6pm today and stole 6 bottles of red wine, nothing else missing at this time.

5-17-06        12:26am  Deputy Elsberry responded to a complaint that a vehicle had gone into the ditch in the 900 block of L Ave. When deputy arrived there was a female in the vehicle who claimed to have been a passenger and 4 males had been in the vehicle and been drinking and left before officer arrived and were following tracks back into Boone, Officers searched the area and were unable to locate anyone, The female was able to identify driver and others. Derek M. Webb 18 of Boone was cited for failure to maintain control and possession of alcohol under the legal age.

5-17-06        6:45am  Rechelle Moorman of Rural Ogden reported that their mailbox had been struck by a vehicle and parts were left at the scene.

5-17-06        11:08pm  Deputy Pontius responded to a complaint of a structure fire in the 2100 block of 210th St, Boone. Boone Fire and Ambulance responded. Turned out to be a single vehicle accident. A 2004 Ford Explorer operated by Angel Ibarra Jr 46 of Ames east bound on 210th when he entered the south ditch sideways, the Explorer continued sideways in the ditch until it struck a fixed object, causing the vehicle to roll end for end and rest onto its side. Ibarra was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The vehicle was a total loss as it started on fire and was the object that appeared to be a structure fire. Iowa State Patrol assisted Boone County Deputies with the investigation that is continuing.

5-18-06        3:55pm  Deputy Dominick responded to a complaint of a person shooting a rifle from his back door of a residence at 822 S. Division St. Boone, male individual located and warned if continues he will be cited.

5-18-06        2:28am  Deputy Pontius assisted a Madrid Officer with an attempted suicide in the 900 block of Kennedy Ave, Madrid. Boone Ambulance was dispatched as individual was unresponsive, but breathing.

5-19-06        3:41pm  Sgt Hurley assisted the State Patrol with a single vehicle accident in the 2000 block of 270th, no injuries were reported.

5-19-06        6:32pm  Deputy Elsberry investigated a single vehicle accident on 280th East of H Ave.  Driver Laurie Doran 50 of Beaver was east bound on 280th when she lost control on  the gravel and went into the ditch. No injuries were reported, damages were est. at $4,500.00 to her 2002 Chevy Tahoe.

5-19-06        11:24pm  Ogden Officer made a traffic stop at Highway 30 and 169, where driver fled on foot from officer, K-9 Tazor and Deputy Pontius responded to scene, meth was located in the and driver located and arrested by Ogden Officer.

5-20-06        11:08am  Deputy Rohden responded to call from city of Boone that a vehcile had left the Super 8 Motel east bound on Highway 30 right after it appeared some type of altercation had taken place just outside the motel.  Driver Jakc D. Hobbs 46 of Des Moines was stopped and cited for driving while Lic suspended, he stated that he was involved in a verbal argument with a female who was with him and she stated that assault had taken place.

5-20-06        4:07pm Deputy Ellison and search and rescue responded to the water works bridge area, NW of Boone.  Cell phone caller reported that it appeared that apeople had fallen out of a boat and one man was pulling boat to shore while two others were still in the water, Deputy located 4 individuals and they all were O.K.

5-20-06        10:19pm  Deputy Middleton responded to Heinrich Envelope Inc. on Industrial Rd, on an alarm sounding, Deputy checked doors after key holder could not be located, everything appeared secure.

5-20-06        11:15am  Deputy Middleton responded to the 1700 block of L Ave Boone on a complaint of a domestic situation, no charges filed both parties were O.K. when officer arrived.

5-21-06        11:03am  Sgt Hurley investigated a car deer accident 1.5 miles East of Luther on 270th.  David C. Holts 56 of Ogden struck a deer on the roadway, causing $4,000.00 in damages to his 1997 Oldsmobile. No injuries were reported.

5-21-06        11:24am  Sgt Hurley responded to Heinrich Envelope Inc on Industrial Rd on a complaint of a burglary, window had been broken out, but nothing appears missing at this time. Investigation continuing.

5-22-06        8:20am  Deputy Dominick arrested Tommy L. Gretillat 26 of Madrid on two warrants one out of Marshall County bond $690.00, and the other out of Madison County Bond $600.00.

5-23-06        2:25am  UPRR called of a suspicious vehicle sitting along the tracks at 210th and J Ave.  Deputy Pontius located the vehicle and driver David Neal 30 of Boone was arrested for driving while license suspended and O.W.I. 2nd, passenger Andrew Neal 18 of Des Moines was cited for possession of alcohol under the legal age.

5-24-06        3:46am  Deputy Elsberry responded to a complaint of a dumped washing machine in the east bound lanes of Highway 30 1/2 mile East of United Community Schools.  Deputy pulled off the roadway.

5-24-06        9:51am  Sgt Hurley assisted a stalled motorist who had ran out of gas on Highway 30 and 17.

5-24-06        3:48pm  Deputy Dominick responded to a complaint of 4 wheelers driving around the city of Pilot Mound. Deputy located the offenders and gave them a warning at this time.

5-24-06        5:09pm  Jailer/Transport responded to the Story County Jail to pick-up a prisoner Joseph A. Tolle who had been in their jail and was being released as Boone County had a warrant for him. Tolle 31 is wanted a probation revocation, domestic abuse original charge, $500.00 bond.

5-25-06        2:36pm  The Office received a complaint from the Woodward Academy that they had a juvenile out of control that needed to be sent back to Polk County to a detention center.  Order was obtained to transport the Juvenile by Boone County to Polk County Juvenile Detention Center.

5-25-06        3:34pm  Deputy Dominick responded to an alarm sounding at the Garst Research Center Slater, was a false alarm.

5-25-06        7:17pm  Deputy Pontius took a report from a Susan Griffith of Rural Ames that she had purchased a computer through    e-bay and paid Pay Pay, and has never received her computer. Pay Pal also is investigating.

5-25-06        9:31pm  State Radio Contacted the Sheriff's Office that they had received a complaint of a Domestic situation in the 1000 block of 320th Woodward.  Deputy Pontius met with female complainant and her two sons in Madrid. After further investigation it was determined that the male individual was at the home with weapon, when Deputies approached the home male individual was outside stated he had a gun and ran inside the home locking the door, officers pursued and arrested Darrin P. Jones 40 of Woodward for Interference with official acts.

5-26-06        3:29pm  Deputy Rohden investigated a two vehicle accident 4.5 miles West of Ogden on Highway 30. Roger Harris 75 of Carrol was East bound on 30 passed a Semi and a truck pulling a boat on trailer and on coming traffic had to break avoid hitting the Harris vehicle two vehicles braked safley but the 3rd had to break hard and swerved to avoid hitting vehicle in front and then struck the Harris vehicle. That vehicle was operated by Alexa M. Greteman 19 of Carroll. No injuries were reported, damages were est. at $2,500.00 to Harris's 2003 Mercury, and $1,500.00 to Greteman's 1995 Camry. Harris was cited for unsafe passing.

5-27-06        7:48am  Sgt Hurley Responded to a complaint of a vehicle in the ditch by Waterworks bridge area. David L. Tesdahl 58 of Cedar Rapids attempted to drive his vehicle under the bridge and got stuck in the Mud, vehicle had to be towed.

5-27-06        11:51am  The Office received a complaint of a vehicle speeding through the canyons at the Ledges State Park, vehicle was located by the State Patrol and driver was given seat belt violation ticket, Statements were taken by Deputies from witnesses at the Park. investigation continuing.

5-27-06        10:30pm  Deputy Elsberry responded to the Entrance of the Ledges State Park by Camp Ground driver Eric J. Rodriguez 20 of Ames was arrested for O.W.I.

5-28-06        9:17pm Deputy Rohden responded to the Don Williams Camp Ground north of Ogden and Park Officer needed assistance with removing a group of underage campers from the camp ground, that were causing problems.

5-29-06        12:15am  Deputy Elsberry responded to the Story County Line as they had arrested a Angela M. Bonnett 23 of Davenport Iowa on a Boone County warrant, theft 5th, bond $350.00.

5-29-06        9:56am  Deputy Dominick responded to a complaint of a Toyota Tocoma in the ditch at C Ave and Highway 144. Vehicle owner was notified and could not speak English and they are from Perry. report will be completed when an interperter can be located to meet with driver and witnesses. no injuries.

5-29-06        3:50pm  Detective Kendall began an investigation of a break in to Sternquist garage in West Boone.  Batteries and money reported missing, investigation continuing.

5-29-06        6:25pm  Deputy Rohden responded to the United Community School on an alarm sounding, was a false alarm.

5-30-06        3:04pm  Deputy Dominick responded to a complaint of cattle that had gotten out and had damaged a yard and garden in the 2400 block of Marshall Boone.  Owner of the cattle is Scott Smith On Story St, Boone.

5-30-06        4:42pm  Deputy Dominick responded to the Woodward Academy on a complaint that an employee was assaulted by a client.  Charged with assault was Ryan Ingwerson 16 of Spirit Lake Iowa.

5-30-06        5:50pm  Deputy Dominick investigated a single vehicle accident 3 miles East of Boone in the 1900 block of 210th.  Driver Janet M. Riley 73 of Boone was east bound, fell asleep and drove into a tree, only minor injuries were reported, Riley was taken to Mary Greeley In Ames to be checked out. Damages were est. at $5,000.00 to her 1992 Chevy. and $50.00 to a mail box at 1949 210th St.

5-30-06        7:11pm  Deputy Pontius responded to the YMCA Camp north of Boone on a complaint from a Cathy Passmore of Marion Iowa, she stated that while at the Camp on the week-end of May 19th she had $100.00 make-up and clothing taken. investigation continuing.

5-31-06        1:25pm  Deputy Hurley responded to 354 U Ave Boone on a complaint that some guns are missing a presumed stolen. Guns have been missing for awhile and investigation continuing. Complainant Thomas Mathers 46 of that address was wanted on a warrant out of Nebraska, Mathers was arrested on that warrant, bond $10,000.00 for fraud, bad checks.

5-31-06        6:28pm  Deputy Dominick responded to the Woodward Academy on a complaint of an assault of an employee by a client.  Charged with assault was Ryan Ingwerson 16 of Spirit Lake.
