6-01-08 10:12pm Deputy Hoffman made a traffic stop on Highway 169 just north of the Dallas County line. Driver Kelly L. Zimmerman 47 of Ogden was arrested for O.W.I. 3rd Offense. She was transported to the Boone County Jail.
6-02-08 11:04am Tama County Sheriff's Office arrested a Brian S. Otto 33 of Montour Iowa on a Boone County Warrant.
6-03-08 11:34am Deputy Thompson took a report of two bad checks received by a Boone Resident for services. The suspect or offender lives in Rural Boone County. Investigation continuing.
6-04-08 1:15am Deputy Hoffman responded to a fire at Continental Laboratories Inc, in Madrid. Madrid Fire and Woodward Fire responded, Polk City Fire was called for assistance.
6-05-08 12:50am Deputy Wingate responded to an alarm sounding at the Untied Community School, was a false alarm, due to lightning from area storms.
6-06-08 8:26pm Deputy Haase investigated a single vehicle accident 2 miles west of Woodward on L Ave. Joshua E. Jones 17 of Woodward was south bound on L Ave when he lost control and rolled his vehicle onto its side into the west ditch. Jones did not receive any injuries, a passenger Nicole Wilson 16 of Granger was taken to Methodist Hospital in Des Moines by her mother. Damages were est. at $5,000.00 to a 1994 Saturn. Jones was cited for failure to maintain control.
6-06-08 9:49pm Deputy Hoffman investigated a car-deer accident in the 900 block of Highway 30. Stephanie Hammer 35 of Beaver was west bound when she struck a deer in the roadway, causing $1,000.00 in damages to her 1997 Mercury. No injuries were reported.
6-06-08 10:51pm Deputy Hoffman investigated a car-cow accident on Highway 30 near B Ave, Far Western Boone County. Brandy R. Meyer 32 of Churdan was west bound when she struck a cow in the roadway. Driver reported no injuries, a passenger complained of minor pains and said that she would get checked at Mary Greely on her own, she was Karen P. Shepard 50 of Ogden. Meyer's 2004 Oldsmobile received $15,000.00 in damages. Owner of the cow was notified and was Travis Doran of Rural Ogden.
6-07-08 1:14am Deputy Hoffman made a traffic stop at E26 and U Ave. Driver Rachel D. Wicks 18 of Boone was arrested for O.W.I. 1st, underage possession of Alcohol, and open container in her vehicle. Passenger Dama M. Linczer 16 of Boone was charged with under age possession of Alcohol.
6-07-08 3:11am Deputy Wingate responded to the 700 block of 130th, Pilot Mound, as a man was having a panic attack and could not be controled by family members present, male was transported to the Boone County Hospital, by a Boone County Ambulance
6-07-08 3:24am Deputy Hoffman and responded to the 6100 West Lincoln way area as a man was claiming he could not stop cutting himself. Individual was located and taken to Mary Greeley with self inflicted cuts.
6-07-08 9:08am Deputy Pontius responded to Monsanto at 1159 S Ave Boone. a 35 year old male welder working in construction site was electrocuted , individual was transported by Boone Ambulance to the Boone County Hospital where he was air lifted to Mercy in Des Moines.
6-07-08 7:39pm Deputy Haase responded to a complaint of mobile home that was burning at 1083 Y Ave. Owner of the mobile home Donald Whattoff of that address. Someone had possibly used the motor home to get a vehicle unstuck, investigation continuing.
6-08-08 1:49am Deputy Wingate made a traffic stop at 335th and Highway 169. Driver Mark D. Mahoney 25 of Boone was arrested for 2nd Offense O.W.I., Driving while license revoked speeding, and no insurance.
6-08-08 2:14am Deputy Hoffman responded to a complaint of an out of control teenager in the 400 block of 240th, Ogden, Deputy was able to calm all parties involved, appeared that there would be no further problems for the night.
6-08-08 6:06am Deputy Haase responded to a complaint of cattle running loose in the area of E26 between the Fraser Corner and Camp Sacajawea Curve. Owner of cattle notified, Junior Boersma.
6-08-08 2:35pm Deputy Haase responded to a complaint that people were driving around barricades and or moving them to get around to get to the River in the 1500 block of 250th, toward the Ledges State park.
6-08-08 10:20pm Deputy Hoffman responded to a complaint of a horse caught in rising water at Magnolia Rd and 300th, Woodward. Owner of the horse was also in the water holding the horses head up. Woodward Rescue and Madrid Rescue responded. Boone Ambulance was also on stand by. Owner of the Horse is Darren Welder and Theresa Painter of Rural Woodward, The horse did not survive the ordeal, no other injuries were reported.
6-09-08 8:01am Deputy Thompson responded to a complaint of a vehicle going the east bound the west bound lanes of Highway 30, the vehicle was located west of Ogden, and driver Stanton Olson 90 of Story City was cited for speeding, no drivers license and failure to yield for an emergency vehicle.
6-09-08 7:35pm Sgt. Hurley responded to a complaint that vehicles were parked on the roadway by the road closer signs at Highway 30 and Montana. Deputy spoke to owners of the vehicles to get them moved.
6-10-08 2:38pm Deputy Pontius responded to a complaint by an observer at the new highway closure east side that he was witnessing to young males walking into the water about 150 out and up to their necks in the water and waving hands. Deputy located the two and told them of the dangers with the water current. The roads are closed for the publics safety and many people are walking past the barricades and walking into the water. Sheriff's Office has stationed to Officers at the site to keep people out of the area, not only are they endangering themselves by walking and swimming on the Highway, but parking in no parking areas.
6-10-08 8:46pm Sgt. Hurley responded to a complaint of a possible drunk driver on Highway 17 north bound from Luther. Vehicle was stopped and driver Michael R. McCool 43 of Boone was arrested for O.W.I. 2nd, driving while license revoked, and no insurance.
6-11-08 4:27am Deputy Wingate made a traffic stop at Leaf Rd and E26. Driver Nicole R. McCabe 19 of Boone was processed at the Sheriff;s Office for .02 violation, driving while blood alcohol was over .02 but under.08 and under age 21. Also charged with Open container, and possession of alcohol under the legal age. Passenger Nichole M. ORourke 20 of Boone was cited for open container, and possession of alcohol under the legal age.
6-11-08 11:55pm Deputy Wingate investigated a single vehicle accident on old 30 near the river bridge. Shannon McKenna 30 of Boone was east bound and unable to see because of heavy rain and drove off the roadway and went into the flooded ditch on the south side of the roadway, she was able to jump from the vehicle as it sunk into the flooded ditch. No injuries were reported. The 2004 Pontiac Grand Am was a total loss.
6-12-08 12:58am Deputy Wingate responded to just south of Madrid into Polk County a call that a vehicle was observed swept away off the road at Highway 17 and 415. Polk County was dispatched, no one was found in the vehicle, Polk county will handle, individual had gotten out and left the scene.
6-12-08 5:23pm Deputy Haase responded to the Highway 30 area at teh Des Moines River West side, on a complaint of teenage boys swimming in the River. Deputy located the boys and contacted parents. We have warned several individuals about swimming in these flooded rivers, creeks and streams, they are not safe, as there is debris, large trees and other items moving through the fast currents that could cause harm by hitting the swimmer or becoming entangled into the debris, or the swift current by itself could catch you off guard and pull you down stream. Please use common sense and stay out of the water.
6-12-08 11:48pm Deputy Hoffman made a traffic stop at E26 and U Ave. Driver Jimmie Bennett 38 of Ames was suspended X2 therefore arrested for driving while suspended and speeding. Passenger Jeff Elsberry 30 of Boone was cited for open container.
6-13-08 4:27am Ames P.D. notified Boone County that they were in pursuit of a vehicle West bound on Highway 30 from the South Dakota Exit. Vehicle was stopped just into Boone County on Highway 30. Deputy Wingate assisted, Investigation will be completed by Ames P.D.
6-13-08 8:35am Deputy Pontius responded to an alarm sounding at the Grand Community School in Boxholm was a false alarm.
6-13-08 9:06am Deputy Pontius responded to a complaint reported by a room-mate that he came home to discover blood on the front steps of his residence in 6100 West Lincoln way, Ames. Individual living there has attempted suicide in the past, was located and was taken for psychiatric evaluation.
6-13-08 1:52pm Sheriff's Office received numerous complaints of people going around the barricades at Montana and new 30. Barricades had been knocked down to allow vehicle to get around. State D.O.T. repaired and placed sturdier posts and barricades in place.
6-13-08 11:00am Deputy Pontius responded to Ogden on a complaint of a fire at the Ogden Laundromat in the 300 block of West Walnut. Ogden fire and Boone Fire responded. Fire was out in a short period of time.
6-13-08 8:26pm A Gary Bloomgren called the Sheriff's Office to report people parking on Montana Street, in the no parking area at Montana and New 30. Deputy Hoffman responded.
6-14-08 Benjamin G. Parsons was arrested for O.W.I. 2nd Offense after the D.C.I. report had been completed as a result of a traffic accident that occurred on May 12th near the waterworks bridge on County Rd E26. Parsons was injured in that single vehicle accident
6-14-08 10:07am Darin L. Keller 37 of Boone reported that his john boat had been stolen off the river as he has been using it to back and forth from his residence in the 1100 block of 155th St, Fraser.
6-14-08 Deputy Hoffman conducted a traffic stop within the 2300 blk. of Highway 30. The driver, William F Cleary of Boone, was cited for driving under suspension.
6-14-08 Deputy Hoffman responded to the Ledges State Park for minors in possession of alcohol at the campground. Deputy Hoffman cited the following: Kayla Leffler of Ames; Kaitlin Johnson of Ames; Corey Schmidt of Ames; Evelyn Tomer of Ames; Steven Crouse of Ames; Zachary Kochel of Ames; Sean Deal of Ames; Donald Duden of Ames; and Jessica Korf of Ames.
6-15-08 3:11 a.m. Deputy Hoffman received a complaint of a reckless driver within the 1700 blk of 205th St. The vehicle was in the ditch upon his arrival. The driver, Todd Baumgardner of Boone was cited for Careless driving and Failure to maintain control.
6-15-08 9 :46 p.m. Deputy Hoffman responded to 170th and L Ave on a complaint of cattle outside the fenced area.
6-16-08 9:23 a.m. Workers at Monsanto Company reported a suspicious person on their property. Boone County Deputies and Boone Police responded after it was reported the man ran from the workers and hid in a building. The male was found and identified. No charges were pressed on William Bailey of Arkansas.
6-16-08 12:14 p.m. Brendan Zimmerman reported the theft of money from his residence. Zimmerman suspects workers from a cleaning company took the money. Investigation is continuing.
6-16-08 3:28 p.m. The Boone County Communication Center received numerous calls of a motorcycle accident within the 1200 blk. of Highway 30. Darrell Buzzell of Ogden was westbound on Highway 30 and swerved to avoid contact with a deer. Buzzell received injuries after laying his motorcycle down on the road.
6-17-08 6:57pm Deputy Godzicki responded to a complaint of a male individual laying on the railroad tracks at the Carroll St crossing in Boone. Homeless male from Kansas was removed from the tracks and taken to homeless shelter.
6-18-08 7:47pm Deputy Haase responded to an ambulance assist in the 400 block of 310th, individual was in a vehicle and had pulled over needing medical attention. Dallas County Ambulance responded and transported female.
6-18-08 10:09pm Deputy Wingate responded to Ames on South Duff to assist Ames Officers with a traffic stop and possible drugs involved. Boone County K-9 used as Story County has no drug dog. Investigation continuing with Ames P.D.
6-18-08 11:36pm Deputy Hoffman made a traffic stop in the 2300 block of E26. Individuals in the vehicle were charged with open containers of Alcohol in the vehicle. Individuals were: Emily L. Hayes 19 of Ames, Hollie A. VanCannon 20 of Boone, and Cullum J. Corpron 23 of Boone.
6-18-08 11:53pm Deputy Haase investigated a Van deer accident 3 miles East of Ogden on Highway 30. June V. McGuire 44 of Grand Jct. Iowa was east bound when she struck a deer in traffic, causing $1,000.00 in damages to her 1998 Pontiac. No injuries were reported.
6-19-08 2:52pm Deputy Hoffman made a traffic stop in the 2000 block of Highway 169. Driver Loroyia A. Haygood 24 of Des Moines was arrested for Driving while License suspended.
6-19-08 7:30pm Deputy Haase investigated a car-deer accident 2 miles East of Boone on old Highway 30. Nicholas A. Cosentino 17 of Boone was east bound when he struck a deer in traffic causing $1,000.00 in damages to his 2000 Pontiac Grand-Am. No injuries were reported.
6-19-08 8:11pm Deputy Hoffman responded to incomplete 911 call to the 1400 block of Moingona Rd, was just a phone problem.
6-19-08 10:57pm Deputy Hoffman made a traffic stop at E26 and Y Ave, Ames. Driver Ryan Robinson 21 of Boone was charged with failure to stop at a stop sign and possession of drug paraparnilia.
6-20-08 10:19am Deputy Godzicki began an investigation of harassment that was reported. Arrested for harassment by leaving messages on a phone was Ronette A. Bonnell 48 of Rural Boone.
6-20-08 12:46pm Deputy Godzicki responded to a complaint of a hay rack that was located in the middle of a corn field in the area of the 1700 block of 140th, Boone. Hay rack turned out to have been stolen out of Story County. Investigation continuing.
6-20-08 4:16pm Deputy Haase responded to a complaint by Jerrad Fisher of Rural Pilot Mound that someone had stolen a boat motor and 6 gallons of fuel from 402 I Ave. Value est. at $5,000.00.
6-20-08 11:43pm Deputy Hoffman investigated a car-deer accident int he 1800 block of Highway 30. Emmalee L. Lawlor 19 of Ames was east bound when she struck a deer in traffic, causing $1,700.00 in damages to her 1992 Volvo. No injuries were reported.
6-21-08 Deputy Godzicki assisted the Humane Society in delivering citations to a Pilot Mound resident. Angela D. Betts 24 of Pilot Mound was cited for owning a dog that had not been vaccinated for rabies for 3 dogs.
6-22-08 9:31am Deputy Pontius responded to a complaint of several goats in a yard in the 1600 block of 315th St, Madrid. Goats had moved to the neighbors yard and are eating flowers and shrubs, could not find out who owned the goats. Goats were rounded up and taken to the Boone County Humane Society.
6-22-08 6:46pm Deputy Naeve responded to a complaint of a vehicle along the roadway on Highway 30 bear Ogden with a poster saying help on windshield. Vehicle was located and driver needed assistance as having engine problems. Vehicle had to be towed.
6-23-08 9:28pm Sgt. Hurley arrested a Robert Webb 42 of Boone on a Parole Revocation warrant. No bond, theft 2nd original charge.
6-24-08 1:17am 911 Communications received a report of a vehicle traveling at a high rateof speed on Highway 169 5 miles north of Highway 141, Deputy Wingate was in the area and stopped the vehicle, and cited the driver for speeding 72 in a 55 zone.
6-24-08 8:10pm Sgt. Hurley arrested a Benjamin R. Holteen 25 of Boone on a Probation revocation warrant, no bond, original charge Driving while barred.
6-24-08 10:51pm Jeremy Messner 23 of Boone turned himself into the Sheriff's Office on a warrant out of Ames, and Story County. Was arrested and held for Ames P.D. who then picked up and transported to Ames.
6-25-08 6:48am Deputy Pontius responded to a complaint of a possible drunk driver west bound on Highway 30 and 17. Vehicle was located at Maimie and Webster in Boone. Driver Mark D. Van Heuen 41 of Clive was arrested for O.W.I. 1st.
6-25-08 8:26am Deputy Pontius responded to a bicycle-car accident on Oriole Rd north of the Ledges entrance. Brittany L. Vogt 22 of Cedar Rapids was north bound when she stated that the sun blocked her view and struck a north bound bicyclist on the roadway. The Bicyclist Paul E. Richmond 45 of Boone was also north bound and did receive injuries, he was treated at the Boone County Hospital. Vogt, was not injured and her 2003 Ford received about $100.00 in damages. Vogt was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian.
6-25-08 10:39am Deputy Pontius responded to a single vehicle accident accident on 216th drive. Nicole M. Muller 18 of Boone was east bound when she turned toward the back seat to check on crying baby and drove off the roadway into the south ditch. Muller was injured along with baby Addison J. Walker, no serious injuries were reported. Damages were est. at $5,000.00 to a 1995 Ford Windstar.
6-25-08 3:05pm Des Moines P.D. called to report that they had arrested a Joseph A. Cleary Jr. 35 of Boxholm on a Boone County warrant for open container and speed, bond $600.00.
6-26-08 11:35pm Deputy Hoffman investigated a car-deer accident in the 600 block of P70. Howard A. Roberts 82 of Pilot Mound was north bound when he struck a deer in the roadway, causing $1,700.00 in damages to his 2000 Chrysler. No injuries were reported.
6-27-08 2:52pm Deputy Zeutenhorst investigated a two vehicle accident 2 miles West of Slater on Highway 210 and Violet. Robert Miller 26 of Woodward was west bound when he struck the back of a vehicle just ahead of him also west bound and slowing to turn left, the second vehicle was operated by Erin Fischer 16 of Madrid. No injuries were reported, damages were est. at $1,000.00 to Miller's 2001 Dodge, and $2,000.00 to Fischer's 2000 Pontiac. Miller was cited for failure to stop within assured clear distance.
6-28-08 1:48am Deputy Hoffman made a traffic stop in the 1500 block of Highway 30. Driver Nicholas Wenger 17 of Grand Jct, Iowa was charged with driving while license suspended, and no proof of insurance. He was handed over to his father.
6-28-08 2:39am Deputy Hoffman investigated a car-deer accident in the 1600 block of Quill Ave. Mysty R. Stumbo 46 of Woodward was south bound when she struck a deer in traffic, causing $1,500.00 in damages to her 2005 Pontiac. No injuries were reported.
6-28-08 2:32am Deputy Haase made a traffic stop at Montana lane and Montana Rd. Driver Nathan Olson 22 of Cheyenne Wyoming was arrested for O.W.I. 1st. A passenger Jordan Vinnece 18 of Boone was charged with possession of Alcohol under the legal age.
6-28-08 1:54pm Deputy Zeutenhorst responded to a complaint of a 4 wheeler on the roadways on 180th near Highway 17. Deputy located a 4 wheeler in the area and driver who was 15, Individual was taken home and spoke to his parents.
6-29-08 12:46am Deputy Wingate responded to a Pick-up Horse accident on Nature Rd, North of Boone. Keith R. Carlberg 22 of Stratford was south bound when he struck a horse on the roadway. No injuries were reported, damages were est.at $1,000.00 to his 2008 Ford F250. The horse belonged to Gerald Gaskil had to be dispatched.
6-29-08 8:12am Deputy Pontius responded to a complaint of a vehicle that had been stolen from the 900 block of 335th, Woodward. The vehicle was later located at the Woodward High School parking lot. Investigation continuing.
6-29-08 12:22pm Deputy Pontius responded to an Ambulance assist with a child having a seizure in the 2000 block of Pear Lane, Madrid.
6-29-08 6:54pm Deputy Zeutenhorst responded to a Domestic situation in Ogden, parties involved had separated all was verbal, no assault reported.

6-30-08 11:23pm Deputy Hoffman made a traffic stop in the 2300 block of 195th St. Driver Dylan Williams 19 of Ankeny was arrested for failure to dim head lights, and Possession of drug paraparnilia, possession of marijuana, and possession of alcohol under the legal age. Passenger Blake Nyberg 19 of Burnsville Minnesota was arrested for possession of drug paraparnilia.
