1-02-08        11:50am  Sgt. Hurley investigated a two vehicle accident 1/2 mile East of Ogden on 220th. Larry A. Weber 59 of Redwood Falls Minn. was west bound behind another west bound vehicle operated by Kevin A. Young 45 of Boone, Young was operating a pick-up with a clothes dryer aboard, the dryer fell out and struck the front of the Weber vehicle. No injuries were reported. Young was cited for spilling load onto roadway. Damages were est. at $2,000.00 to Weber's 2008 Impala.

1-02-08        3:10am  Deputy Hoffman checked out a suspicious vehicle that was on Highway 17 south of mile marker 26. Driver Steven K. Giffen 22 of Boone was arrested for O.W.I. 1st.

1-03-08        6:48pm  Deputy Pontius arrested a Lisa Peterson 43 of Ogden on a warrant out of Perry, she was transported to the Perry Jail. The warrant was a felony warrant for theft 1st degree.

1-04-08        12:20am Deputy Hoffman made a traffic stop in the 700 block of highway 30, Ogden. Driver David L Mercer 46 of Washington D.C. was suspended out of Washington and had no valid Iowa drivers license he was cited for no Drivers License and speeding.

1-04-08        8:30pm  Deputy Thompson responded to a complaint of horses on the roadway at E18 and Kale Rd. Owner of the horses was notified and they were corralled, owner Chris Williams of Rural Boone.

1-04-08        11:04pm  Deputy Hoffman made a traffic stop at Beech and 2nd in Boxholm, driver Michael K. Dodson 41 of Boxholm was arrested for O.W.I. 1st Offense, and speeding.

1-05-08        3:49am  Deputy Wingate investigated a single vehicle accident on Highway 17 just north of Madrid. Operator Lisa M. Paulson was north bound on 17 when she lost control on the frost and struck a driveway on the west side of the roadway and clothesline. No injuries were reported. damages were est. at $5,000.00 to her 2007 Toyota.

1-06-08        2:22am  Deputy Hoffman responded to a complaint of a person who had threatened suicide, Officer arrived and spoke to all parties involved and it was left to family as to procedures, no apparent harm done by or to anyone. Took place on Leaf Road, NW of Boone.

1-06-08        5:58am  Deputy Wingate made a traffic stop at Highway 30 and 169. Driver identified as Jorge Gomez 19 of Perry he had no I.D. and was not valid to operate he was charged with no valid Drivers License and vehicle turned over to another relative out of Perry. 

1-06-08        8:50am  Deputy Pontius investigated a two vehicle accident 5 miles East of Ogden on Old 30. Stephanie J. Stanley 19 of Ogden was east bound when she lost control on the frost and slid sideways into a west bound vehicle operated by Mary A. Peter 77 of Boone. No injuries were reported, damages were est. at $4,500.00 to Stanley's 1995 Pontiac, and $3,000.00 to Peter's 1993 Taurus.

1-06-08        8:10pm  Deputy Dominick responded to a complaint of a vehicle in the ditch in the 2300 block of 270th. No damages were reported, operator Evan J. Dezwaan 29 of Madrid was arrested fro O.W.I. 3rd Offense and driving while license Suspended.

1-07-08        6:50am  Deputy Pontius investigated a car deer accident 1/10th of mile south of Madrid on highway 17. Linda L. Wood 51 of Des Moines was south bound when a deer ran out in front of her causing $2,000.00 in damages to her 2004 Honda Civic. No injuries were reported.

1-07-08        7:56am  Sgt Kendall and Chief Deputy Elsberry responded to an unattended death on West 16th St, Boone. Elderly male had died of natural causes.

1-07-08        9:11am  Deputy Pontius responded to a break in to the West Central Co-op in Boxholm. Nothing was reported stolen at this time.

1-07-08        9:20am  Deputy Pontius investigated a single vehicle accident 7 miles West of Ogden on E26. Barbara S. Kirkpatrick 51 of Humboldt Iowa was east bound when she struck a patch of frost and lost control and went into the south ditch. Virginia Kirkpatrick 83 of Humboldt, a passenger, was taken by ambulance to the Boone County Hospital. Damages were est. at $15,500.00 to a 2004 Dodge Dakota Pick-up.

1-07-08        2:25pm  Deputy Thompson arrested a Johnnie Phips 26 of Boone at the Kurt Forbes Center in Ames, Phipps is wanted on a Boone County warrant for probation revocation.

1-07-08        6:38pm  Deputy Thompson responded to Pilot Mound to investigate a complaint from a John Daniels of 201 2nd St, that someone had taken $500.00 from a desk in his home in the past 3 days.

1-07-08        9:38pm  Deputy Dominick investigated a single vehicle roll-over 1 mile south of Boxholm on 169. Shawn R. Sorenson 41 of Pilot Mound was north bound when he lost control on the ice and frost and rolled into the west ditch. Sorenson was transported to the Boone County Hospital by Ambulance.. Damages were est. at $5,000.00 to his 1993 Jeep.

1-08-08        12:43am  Deputies responded toward the 1600 block of Highway 30 east of Boone, on a complaint of a west bound vehicle int he east bound lanes. The vehicle was not located.

1-08-08        3:38am  Deputy Wingate investigated a single vehicle roll-over at 335th and highway 169. Regina R. Long 28 of Perry was north bound on 169 when she took evasion action to miss a south bound vehicle that was over in her lane, while doing this she lost control and rolled her vehicle into the east ditch.  No injuries were reported, damages were est. at $10,000.00 to her 1998 Dodge Durango.

1-08-08        8:45am  Sgt. Hurley investigated a single vehicle accident 2.5 miles East of Luther on 270th. Alice G. Wisecup 57 of Luther was east bound when she lost control on the frost and rolled her vehicle into the north ditch. Injured was Wisecup and her passenger Delores Rondinelli 74 of Cincinnati Ohio. They both were taken by private vehicle to Mary Greeley in Ames. Damages were est. at $2,000.00 to a 1994 Infiniti.

1-08-08        9:52am  Chief Deputy Elsberry arrested a Thomas Pogue of Nevada, Pogue turned himself into the Sheriff's Office, the warrant was out of Story County for probation revocation.

1-08-08        9:05am  through 12:20pm  Communications Center received numerous calls of horses running loose on Quill Ave, Horses were finaly rounded up after owner was located Karen Proksch of Rural Boone. Horses were caught by the owner near Orscheln's in Boone.

1-08-08        4:46pm Deputy Pontius arrested a Stephani M. Dickerson 22 of Boone. Dickerson was arrested on a Boone County warrant for failure to appear, bond  $1,200.00. Arrest made in the1000 block of Aldrich, Boone.

1-09-08        10:08pm  Deputy Hoffman made a traffic stop in Madrid on Highway 17. Marijuana was found in the vehicle, passenger Seth Welder 18of Woodward was arrested for possession of marijuana. Investigation continuing.

1-10-08        1:29am  Deputy Dominick responded to a domestic situation in Luther, in the 200  block of 5th St. Arrested fro Criminal Mischief was Bradley Eppert 24 of Luther.

1-10-08        2:58am  Deputy Hoffman made a traffic stop in the 2000 block of H Ave Ogden. Driver Braulia de Valldares Gonzales 27 of San Antonia Texas was wanted out of Baxer County Texas on Felony warrants for drugs and prostitution, no bond. Texas will extradite, she will be held in the Boone County Jail.

1-10-07        5:57pm  Deputy Thompson investigated a single vehicle accident at R18 and 240th. Kimberly Lewiston 37 of Woodward was south bound when a deer ran out in front of her causing $2,200.00 in damages to her 2006 Dodge Van, no injuries were reported.

1-11-08        7:48am  Sgt. Hurley arrested a Derek Webb 19 of Boone on a Boone County Warrant, Webb turned himself into the Sheriff's Office, bond was $500.00 for original charge of simple assualt.

1-11-08        12:20pm  Polk County called as they had arrested a Garold B. Dickerson 37 of Polk City on a Boone County Warrant, he would be held till we could pick-up at the Polk County Jail, bond $800.00. Failure to pay child support.

1-12-08        12:18am  Deputy Wingate and Hoffman assisted with a chase that was started by a Madrid Officer. vehicle lost control at 315th and Highway 17. Driver Ryan M. Blair 26 of Granger was taken into custody after Officers discovered an active meth lab in the vehicle, Stat Lab team was called to clean up the area and vehicle. Charges are pending. Blair was arrested on warrants out of Polk County for Robbery, no bond.

1-12-08        1:05am  Polk County called as they arrested a Treig A. Sledge 24 of Boone on a Boone County warrant probation revocation, original cahrge possession of marijuana, bond $2,000.00. Polk County will hold till we can pick-up.

1-12-08        7:10am  Deputy Pontius investigated a vehicle- deer accident 1 mile South of Boone on Highway 30 and Montana Rd. Michael J. Whitson 42 of Newton was east bound when a deer ran out in front of him, causing $1,000.00 in damages to his 1999 Freightliner, no injuries were reported.

1-13-07        2:26am  Deputy Spencer made a traffic stop in the 300 block of D Ave. Driver Charles G. Dahlhauser 36 of Fort Dodge Iowa was arrested fro Drivign while License Suspended, and a Warrant for his arrest by the State Patrol for unlawful use of License, bond $129.00.

1-14-08        10:04am  Sgt. Hurley responded to the 2200 block of 229th Place, Ames, Current Electric Co. reported that they had around $1,000.00 in scrap copper that was stolen from their yard over night, evidence showed that the person had jumped a fence, and left foot prints behind, investigation continuing.

1-14-08        4:06pm  Deputy Pontius arrested a Logan Barrett 20 of Boone on a Boone County warrant for probation revocation, arrest made at the Sheriff's Office.

1-14-08        10:22pm  Deputy Hoffman investigated a complaint from Blank Children's Hospital in Des Moines that they were treating a child for a dog bite and the child was from Boone County. Turned out that the child was from the town of Luther and was bitten by the family dog. Incident took place at 305 Iowa Ave, Luther, Owners are Carnahan's and they will get rid of the dog through the Humane Society, dog was up to date on all vaccinations. 

1-15-08        6:18am  Sgt. Hurley responded to a shed fire at 1198 232nd St. Boone. Shed was lost along with puppies that were staying under a heat lamp in the shed. Owner Douglas Haase of that address.

1-15-08        2:36pm  Deputy Thompson responded to the Boxholm Elementary School on a complaint of an out of control 6th grader. The male child was taken into custody and transported to the Boone County Hospital for a mental evaluation, the child was then later transported to Iowa Lutheran in Des Moines.

1-16-08        12:37am  Deputy Hoffman arrested a April Brown 47 of Boone on a Story County warrant, for contempt of court, original charge OWI 2nd, bond $2,000.00.

1-16-08        3:56am  Deputy Hoffman responded to the 300 block of 220th Ogden for an ambulance assist.

1-16-08        9:46pm  Deputy Wingate investigated a single vehicle accident 1/16th of Mile South of Madrid on Highway 17. Dawn M. Rost 34 of Waukee was north bound when she lost control and drove off the roadway and struck a sign post. No injuries were reported, damages were est. at $2,000.00 to her 2005 Honda.

THE BOONE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE HAS TEAMED UP WITH AN ORGANIZATION CALLED [ A CHILD IS MISSING ALERT].

Sheriff Fehr learned of this program at the Latest Sheriff Conference in Des Moines this past December and began the process of implementing the program here in Boone County as of Today January 17th we learned that we have been approved and the system is now in place

This project assists Law Enforcement in the event of a missing child, here in Boone County the missing child information will be collected by the Officer and a toll free number will be called by the Communications Center to the Missing child Alert program, they in turn can disseminate up to 1000 phone calls within a minute, in the location of the missing child, working like a reverse 911 call to citizens in that particular area,  getting out information about the missing child and all details possible, so that not only Law Enforcement is looking but all citizens as well, this same system can be used in the assistance of  locating a walk away from a Nursing home or Alzheimers patient. It can also be used to get information out quickly for Chemical spills, or the event of a major incident at our Schools. Another use is the notification of a Sexual predator in a certain area   This Service is at no cost to Boone County Citizens, but is priceless in the assistance of returning a missing child or loved home safely.  For more information contact Sheriff  Fehr or Chief Deputy Gregg Elsberry.

1-17-08        4:40pm  Chief Deputy Elsberry arrested a Daniel L. Aldrich 31 of Boone on a Boone County warrant, failure to appear, Harassment charge, bond $500.00. Arrest made at the Sheriff's Office when Aldrich turned himself in.

1-17-08        10:16pm  The Communications Center received numerous calls of a vehicle East bound in the West bound lanes of Highway 30 West of Ogden. Deputies responded to that area and did not locate the vehicle.

1-19-08        1:30am  Deputy Wingate made a traffic stop on Highway 30 in the area of the Erickson Curves. Driver Wendy S. Goering 42 of Boone was arrested fro drivng while license suspended and a Boone County Warrant for failure to appear  for another driving while suspended, bond $500.00.

1-19-08        4:39pm  Deputy Thompson responded to a complaint of a snowboard and bindings stolen from the seven oaks Rec Center. Complainant was Gretchen Kubal of Adel Iowa.

1-20-08        12:51am  Deputy Wingate made a traffic stop and asked for assistance as driver was possible O.W.I. and there were three passengers. Deputy Dominick assisted, when, persons were separated the driver fled from Deputies across an open field, Deputy Dominick began foot pursuit and fell while climbing fence, he was still able to apprehend the Juvenile. Dominick was later taken to the Boone County Hospital with a shoulder injury. Arrested for O.W.I. 1st Austin J. Wolfgram 17 of Webster City, additional charges are pending. Passengers Allie K. Jackson 18 of Webster City and Matthew Pruismann 18 of Webster City were charged with Under age possession of Alcohol. Incident took place on Highway 17 just south of 130th.

1-20-08        3:13am  A Rick Daniels 56 of Boone reported that he had lost control of his vehicle in the Erickson Curves on Highway 30 and had gone into the medium, said no injuries, All Deputies were busy on the earlier call, Boone P.D. responded and then needed an ambulance for possible injuries in that accident. Accident report will be completed later. Rick Daniels 56 was west bound on 30 when he entered the curves and drove straight and jumped the raised curb and went into the north ditch, struck a sign and rolled his vehicle. Damages were st. at $6,000.00 to his 2001 Mercury Mountaineer. Daniels was taken to the Boone County Hospital by Ambulance with minor injuries.

1-20-08        7:33am Deputy Wingate while stopped at Git and Go in Madrid could smell marijuana on a female patron at the store, Deputy confronted the woman and walked her to her vehicle where the smell of marijuana was stronger, search of the vehicle was made. The female Ila Mae Daniels  55 of  Boone, was charged with possession of marijuana.

1-20-08        11:51pm  Deputy Spencer made a traffic stop at Marshall and 22nd St. Boone. Adam L. Bloom 25 of  MT. Pleasant Iowa was arrested for O.W.I. 1st.

1-21-08        8:20am  Deputy Pontius investigated a two vehicle accident 2 miles West of Boone on Highway 30. Beverly J. Hover 58 of Ogden was east bound on 30 when she lost control on the bridge, she then struck the bridge, she was then struck by another east bound vehicle operated by Steven J. Wakefield 25 of Camlachie Canada. Hover was taken by ambulance to the Boone County Hospital for minor injuries. Damages were est. at $8,500.00 to Hover's 2001 Ford, and no damages to Wakefield's 2006 Petebilt Semi.

1-23-08        5:16am  Deputy Hoffman investigated a single vehicle accident at 156th and Kale Rd, Fraser area. Scott E. Schellenberg 30 of Fraser was east bound when he attempted to turn south and due to road conditions and downward slope he lost control and slid into a utility pole. No injuries were reported, damages were est. at $1,200.00 to his 1997 Chevy Blazer, and broke the utility pole.

1-23-08        8:59am  Deputy Thompson investigated a single vehicle accident in the Erickson curves on Highway 30. Lyle E. Gustafson 57 of Ogden was east bound on 30 when he lost control due to road conditions and flipped his vehicle onto its top in the south ditch. No injuries were reported, damaged were est. at $8,000.00 to his 2005 Nisson.

1-23-08        11:29pm  Deputy Hoffman investigated two suspicious vehicles at the M Ave Boat Ramp. One driver Matthew Heimbecker 22 of Sioux City Iowa was barred from driving and was arrested for operating while License Barred.

1-24-08        11:10am  Deputy Pontius began an investigation of the fraudulent use of a credit card, A resident in the 1300 block of Moingona Rd, reported 4 charges in excess of $1,900.00 in 2 days to a bank credit card, investigation continuing.

1-24-08        4:20pm  Jordan J. Burke 22 of Boone was transported from the Kurt Forbes Center in Ames to the Boone County Jail on a Boone County warrant for probation revocation, no bond.

1-24-08        4:33pm  Deputy Thompson began an investigation of an identity theft of a resident from the 300 block of V Ave, Boone. After a credit check it was discovred that someone using the complainants name and Social Security number has an outstanding bill through Sprint. Investigation continueing.

1-24-08        8:28pm  Cherokee County Sheriff's Office had arrested a Matthew J. Berg 20 of Ames on a Boone County Warrant, bond  $2,000.00 probation revocation, original charge public intoxication. Berg bonded in Cherokee.

1-24-08        10:12pm  Deputy Godzicki found an open door at the Westport Station in West Ames, Key holder was notified to secure. Nothing reported missing.

1-25-08        12:20pm  Deputy Pontius assisted State Troopers with a personal injury accident at 330th and D Ave, Perry. Pick-up and Garbage truck involved. Two persons inthe Pick-up were ejected and one was airlifted from the scene. State Patrol will complete report.

1-25-08        7:30pm  Deputy Godzicki responded to the Untied Community School to pick-up a prisoner arrested by Ames P.D. on a Boone County Warrant. Arrested and taken ot the Boone County Jail was Curtis A. Belle 23 of Ames. Warrant for Probation revocation.

1-25-08        7:39pm  Deputy Thompson responded to a complaint a pony running loose on Ave in the 500 block, Rural Ogden area.

1-25-08        8:42pm  The Office received a complaint from Wayne Koos in the 1600 block of 220thm that his mail box had been damaged along the highway. Mail box had been broken off. Took place after 3:15pm.

1-26-08        2:52am  Deputy Naeve responded to a two vehicle accident on Highway 30 just East of Ogden. Mark Mahoney 24 of Boone was west bound on highway 30 when he was struck from behind by another west bound vehicle. The driver of that vehicle had fled the scene, and the vehicle he was driving a 2000 Nisson registered to William Glleney of Boone had been reported stolen. Mahoney 24 was arrested for O.W.I. 1st, and his passenger Scott Thacker 24 of Ogden was arrested for Public Intoxication. Stolen vehicle is under investigation with Boone P.D.

1-27-08        1:54am  Deputy Wingate made a traffic stop on Highway 30 and B Ave. Driver John S. Copeland 42 of Henderson Neveda was arrested for O.W.I  1st

1-27-08        2:19pm  Deputy Pontius responded to a residential alarm sounding in the 700 block of 120th, Boone, was a false alarm.

1-28-08        2:10pm  The Boone County Sheriff's Office received a complaint from a Boone County Resident that they had received a mailing with a check in the amount of $4,700.00 from a Company called City Foods Inc.  The letter attached is from Development and Marketing Research Inc. out of New York. Its a scam involving Secret shopping and having the recipient of the Check is for completing a Probationer Training Task PPT.  Area banks have been informed of the fraudulent checks. If you should receive any checks you can turn them into your local Law Enforcement agency or just destroy, but do not cash.  This scam has been around in the Boone area for sometime and most likely will continue off and on, If its too good to be true it most likely is a scam, these organizations are based in other parts of the Country and even outside the US, making it difficult to prosecute.

1-28-08        11:32pm  Deputy Hoffman made a traffic stop at 230th and T Ave, driver Steven C. Robinson 57 of Boone was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while License barred.

1-29-08        5:09am  Deputy Hoffman responded to a complaint of a Semi blocking traffic in the 1300 block of S Ave. Semi was having a fuel problem, Deputy assisted with traffic control.

1-30-08        12:16am  Deputy Hoffman made a traffic stop in the 1800 block of 250th, Boone. Driver John M. Norris 18 of Ames was arrested for Possession of Marijuana and drug paraparnilia, Also additional charges are pending out come of Lab results. Passenger Samantha L. Artese 19 of Ames was charged with Possession of marijuana and drug paraparnilia.

1-30-08        8:21am  Deputy Pontius responded to a motorist assist who had a flat tire at E26 and Y Ave.

1-30-08        1:37pm  Deputy Pontius located a stalled motorist on Highway 30 and Airport Rd. Female with small children was assisted, as she had ran out of gas.

1-31-08        9:45pm  Ames P.D. Requested assistance with Boone County K-9 Unit to assist at a scene of an armed robbery on South Duff in Ames. K-9 unable to locate trail.

1-31-08        2:00pm   Deputy Pontius performed tobacco purchases with under age individuals at The Market, B.J.s, Git and Go, Casey's and The VFW all in Madrid, everyone was complaint.
