01-01-07        11:54am  Sgt Hurley responded to a single vehicle accident 5 miles SE of Ogden on L Ave. Driver Donna J. Burkhart 41 of Woodward lost control due to ice and went into the east ditch rolled her vehicle onto its top. Burkhart and passenger Caleb Burkhart 12 were both taken by Boone County Ambulance to the Boone County Hospital for treatment. Damages were est. at $8,000.00 to her 2002 Ford Windstar.

01-03-07        1:09am  Deputy Middleton responded to a complaint of banging noises coming the Broiler Restaurant in West Ames, turned out to be some sheet metal that was loose banging in the wind. Everything checked out O.K.

01-03-07        2:04am  Deputy Middleton responded to domestic situation in the 2000 block of S Ave. Turned out an ambulance was needed as the female party had consumed alcohol with pills and needed medical attention.

01-04-07        7:20am  Sgt Hurley investigated a car deer accident 3 miles SW of Boone on L Ave. Pamela S. McCoy 47 of Boone struck a deer causing $1,500.00 in damages to her 1997 Jeep Cherokee. No injuries were reported.

01-04-07        10:00am  Sgt Hurley investigated a car deer accident 1 mile West of Luther on 270th. Elizabeth D. Doran 16 of Madrid struck a deer causing $1,800.00 in damages to her 1995 Dodge Intrepid, no injuries were reported. Doran was cited for no insurance.

01-04-07        9:30am  Deputy Middleton responded to a complaint of 4 horses running loose on E18 and L Ave Area. Horses were rounded up.

01-05-07        5:19am Deputy Middleton responded to a car deer accident at R18 3 miles south of Highway 30. Driver Debra Gifford struck several deer and no injuries were reported. Damages to her 2003 Chevy Monte Carlo were under $1,000.00.

01-05-07        3:27pm  Deputy Elsberry responded to a complaint of cattle out on the roadway on 255th ni Ledges area.  Owner of cattle notified and cattle rounded up.

01-06-07        1:07am  Deputy Rohden responded to a complaint of a dead deer on the roadway in the 800 block of 170th, deer was removed by the Deputy.

01-06-07        2:21am  Deputy Rohden arrested a James McGlynn 45 of Boone on a Story County Warrant, he was transported to the Story County line for Pick-up by Story County Deputy. bond $1,000.00 for burglary 3rd degree.

01-06-07        4:33pm  A Joshua Rosenburgh 15 of Fort Dodge reported that he had a snowboarding coat and cell phone stolen from the 7 Oaks Recreation Center west of Boone while he was at this facility.

01-06-07        8:55pm  Deputy Dominick responded to an incomplete 911 from a residence in the 2000 block of K Ave Woodward, turned out to have been a phone mis-dialed.

01-06-07        3:13pm  Deputy Elsberry arrested a Jane F. Ham 57 of Boone for O.W.I. 3rd at Marion St, and 198th Rd.

01-06-07        6:57pm  Deputy Elsberry arrested a Turk W. Hansen 53 of Boone for O.W.I 1st at Nature Rd, and 180th.

01-09-07        1:49pm  Fort Dodge P.D. arrested a Ashley Machain 19 of Fort Dodge on a Boone County Warrant for theft 5th degree, gas drive off in Boone, bond $325.00.

01-10-07        9:42am  Sgt. Hurley responded to a car deer accident on L Ave near 7 Oaks Recreation Center. Eric Crosman 26 of Ogden struck a deer causing under $1,000.00 in damages to his 1994 Oldsmobile, no injuries were reported.

01-10-07        5:03pm  Deputy Pontius responded to Pilot Mound on a compliant by Jay Williams that someone had tampered with his vehicles. He reported that the lug nuts had been loosened on tow vehicles, and that his wife Barb was operating one of the vehicles when the the lug nuts broke off. No injuries were reported. Investigation continuing.

1-11-07        8:56am  Sheriff Fehr executed a writ of ejectment  at 965 222nd Lot 5 Ogden.

1-11-07        6:24pm  Beverly Powers 71 of Boone reported that she had struck a deer earlier in the day somewhere on R27, damages were est at under $1000.00 to her 1999 Honda Accord, no injuries were reported.

1-11-07        8:08pm  Deputy Rohden investigated a car deer accident just south of Don Williams on P70. Scott King 46 of Boxholm reported hitting a deer, damages under $1,000.00 to his 2002 Chevy Pick-up. No injuries were reported.

1-11-07        8:09pm  Deputy Elsberry responded along with the humane Society on a complain that a motorist had hit a dog on west Lincoln way west bound on 30. Driver Kristine Seeman 35 of  Boone struck a dog, causing under $1,000.00 in damages to her 2003 Chevy Van. No injuries were reported.

1-12-07        8:19pm  Deputy Rohden responded to a single vehicle accident 2.75 miles East of Ogden on 216th Dr. Sarah M. Olson 16 of Boone was east bound when she dropped off the south shoulder and over corrected going off the roadway into the North ditch, injured was Olson and her passenger 15 of Ogden. Both taken to the Boone County Hospital by Ambulance. Assisting at the scene was Boone Fire and Boone Ambulance. Olson will be cited for failure to maintain control, damages were est at $2,750.00 to her 1998 Malibu.

1-13-07        12:03am  Deputy Rohden responded to Madrid to assist the Madrid Officer with a fight at BJ's Bar on Highway 17. Person involved had fled on foot before Officers arrived.

1-13-07        5:45am Sgt Hurley investigated a single vehicle accident 2 miles NW of Boone on 192nd, St. Jerald L. Jennings 46 of Ogden was west bound when he failed to negotiate a curve and left the roadway and rolled his vehicle. No injuries were reported. Damages were est. at $2,200.00 to his 1999 Ford Escort. Jennings was cited for no insurance.

1-13-07        9:43am Sgt. Hurley responded to a complaint by Roger Hillard of Pilot Mound that someone had stolen his identity. Information and evidence was collected for further investigation.

1-13-07        9:09pm  Deputy Pontius investigated a car deer accident 2 miles East of Ogden on Highway 30. Brett P. McConnell 25 of Ogden was east bound when a deer ran out in front of him, causing $1,500.00 in damages to his 1999 Pontiac. No injuries were reported.

1-14-07        6:19am Sgt Hurley responded to the 1600 block of K Ave, Ogden on a medical assist, friends had called because a male individual who was visiting was down and not responsive. Boone County Ambulance and Ogden fire responded. The 38 year old male was pronounced dead at the scene by the County Medical examiner. Investigation continuing.

1-14-07        12:15pm  Sgt Hurley investigated a single vehicle accident 2.5 miles South of Boone on Oriole Rd. Tars-Danial Chasar 25 of West Des Moines was north bound when he lost control on the snow covered roadway, left the road and struck a culvert and embankment. No injuries were reported. Damages were est at $10,000.00 to his 2003 Mercedes.

1-14-07        2:58pm  Deputy Pontius responded to a two vehicle accident just north of Highway 30 on Highway 17. At this time we have a triple fatality with deceased parties from one vehicle, 2 adults and a child. Assisting at the scene is the Boone Police, Boone Fire, and Boone County Ambulance. The State Patrol will complete the Accident report, no names will be released until notification of all family members involved.

1-15-07        8:45am  Sgt Hurley responded to an unattended death of an elderly female in Pilot Mound.  The 86 year old was found by family members this morning. County medical examiner called, natural causes.

1-15-07        9:55am Sgt Hurley responded to a Pilot Mound on a complaint of an 8 year old foster child out of control, Deputy followed family to Doctors Office in Boone.

1-16-07        9:59am  Sgt Hurley responded to a Pilot Mound on a compliant of a two vehicle accident at Decks 76 Service Station. Parties involved had moved their vehicles before Officer arrived.  John E. Daniels 45 of Boone  and Janice Engleen 63 of Boone were the parties involved. Daniels' 1989 GMC received $800.00 in damages and Engleen's 2002 Escort received $2,500.00. No injuires were reported.

1-16-07        6:46pm  Deputy Elsberry responded to the Story County Line to pick-up a prisoner arrested by Ames P.D. on a Boone County Warrant. Arrested was Joshua J. Bryan 18 of Boone for violation of a court order, no bond.

1-17-07        5:17am  Deputy Middleton investigated a car deer accident 2 miles East of Ogden on Highway 30. Jeanne M. Miller 33 of Grand Jct struck a deer causing $1,500.00 in damages to her 2000 Dodge, no injuries were reported.

1-17-07        8:52pm  Deputy Elsberry investigated a single vehicle accident at 325th and Apple Ave, North of Perry. Dorothy I. Smith 61 of Carroll was west bound on 325th and missed a curve and went into the ditch, causing $1,200.00 in damages to her 1988 Crown Victoria, no injuries were reported.

1-18-07        2:20pm  Deputy Elsberry investigated a two vehicle accident just west of the Story County line on West Lincoln way Ames. Amy C. Hager 19 of Ogden was west bound when a a mechanical problem occurred with her vehicle causing wheel to give way and crossed the center line into a East bound vehicle operated by Daryl D. Osmundson 57 of Ames. No injuries were reported, damages were est at $6,500.00 to Osmundson's 2000 Chevy pick-up, and $5,000.00 to Hager's 1996 Dodge.

1-18-07        3:25pm  Deputy Elsberry investigated a two vehicle accident 4 miles west of Ames on New 30 and U Ave. Sarah T. Thompson 23 of Jefferson was west bound on 30 in the inside line when she changed lanes and lost control and struck another west bound vehicle also in the inside lane, operated by Nicole J. Huygens 24 of Ames. No injuries were reported, damages were est. at $1,200.00 to Thompson's 2001 Chevy, and $2,000.00 to Huygens' 2003 Chevy.

1-19-07        1:34pm  Detective Kendall began an investigation of a possible identity theft in the 1600 block of Jonquil Lane, Ogden. So far there is a report of $1,270 plus reported billed through a phone company, investigation continuing.

1-20-07        8:33am Sgt Hurley responded to a complaint of a stalled vehicle north of Boone on R21, vehicle was towed.

1-21-07        6:10am  Sgt Hurley investigated a single vehicle accident on Highway 30 and 222nd Dr. Jan Scott 30 of Ogden struck a guard rail, causing $5,000.00 in damages to her 2003 Ford Focus, no injuries were reported.

1-21-07        9:05am  Sgt Hurley responded to 741 Nature Rd, with a medical assist of an elderly woman.

1-21-07        12:47pm  Sgt Hurley responded to a complaint of a dead horse on the roadway in the 800 block of P Ave. A horse belonging to James Heck had gotten out and fell on ice or snow and broke hip, causing death of the animal

1-21-07        1:09pm  Sgt Hurley was responding to a possible suicide attempt, when he lost control on the snow covered covered roadway 4 miles East of Boone on E26. Hurley was east bound when he lost control and went into the south ditch and struck a large fence post. Damages were est. at $5,000.00 to the 1999 4 Wheel Drive Mountaineer. No injuries were reported. Boone P.D. Covered the report.

1-22-07        11:23am  Sgt Hurley responded to a complaint of a break in to a home in Fraser, in the 900 block of 157th St. James Cook reported that someone kicked in his door and broke his CD player. Mr. Cook witnessed the incident and investigation is continuing. This occurred over night, and Cook was unable to contact law enforcement as he has no phone. Damages est. at just under $100.00.

1-23-07        8:41am  Detective Kendall assisted a stalled motorist at Highway 30 and Montana Rd. Flat Tire.

1-23-07        10:53am  Deputy Naeve responded to 1804 west 3rd Ext on complaints of domestic situation with a gun involved, turned out to be 1804 west 3rd without the Ext. just inside City limits. Deputy Assisted Boone Officers with apprehending suspect, who later transported to the Boone County Hospital for evaluation, charges may be filed by Boone P.D.

1-23-07        5:01pm  Deputy Elsberry responded to the 700 block of S. Marion on a complaint that they had a play station 2 and games missing from the residence since noon.

1-23-07        10:19pm  Deputy Rohden responded to the Story County line to pick-up a prisoner arrested by Ames P.D. Brought back on a Boone County warrant was Christopher L. Williams 25 of Boone on a 5 day mittimus for violation of a court order.

1-24-07        7:46am  Deputy Naeve investigated a two vehicle accident at R18 and new 30 by Seven Oaks.  Brad J. Shaffer 20 of Woodward was attempting to stop and slid into the back of another vehicle that was stopped at the stop, both headed north on R18, preparing to cross 30. The stopped vehicle was operated by Gary C. Fincel 62 of Boone. No injuries were reported, damages were est at $1,500.00 to Shaffer's 1994 Plymouth, and $3,500.00 to Fincel's 2003 Ford.

1-24-07        11:10am  Deputy Naeve stopped a vehicle and 2nd and Story, Boone, driver Reggie Graeve 27 of Boone was cited for expired registration, and driving while license under suspension.

1-24-07        4:00pm Deputy Elsberry began an investigation of identity theft from a rural Boone County resident inthe 700 blokc of I Ave, Ogden.  Someone has been attempting to get credit cards in the complainants name.

1-24-07        5:11pm  Jailers had a prisoner Christopher L. Weber 27 of Ames cause damages with the sprinkler system in his jail cell area. Weber was charged with Criminal Mischief 4th degree and placed in lock down.

1-24-07        8:20pm  Pottawattamie County notified Boone County that they had a prisoner Brandon F. Elliott 25 of Perry in custody on a Boone County warrant, Bond $3,000.00 for possession of marijuana.

1-25-07        9:00am  Sheriff Fehr executed a writ of ejectment at 305 East 8th St, Madrid.  Adult woman and 4 children were to be removed, The woman and mother of the children was taken to the Boone County for evaluation, and children placed with DHS. Madrid P.D. assisted.

1-25-07        3:44pm  Detective Kendall assisting with Ames P.D. and Ogden P.D. Executed a search warrant at 513 NW 7th #2 in Ogden. Evidence was collected for an Ames Case.  Investigation continuing.

1-25-07        4:14pm  Transport Deputy responded to Dallas County to Pick-up a prisoner Terranzo Foster who was arrested over night on other charges from Polk and Dallas County before being handed over to Boone County on Boone County Charges. Foster is wanted on a Boone County warrant for O.W.I. and probation revocation , bond $5,000.00.

1-26-07        2:03am  Deputy Middleton investigated a single vehicle accident 5 miles South of Ogden in the 600 block of 270th. Austin L. Herman 19 of Adel was west bound on E57 when he went through the stop sign at Highway 169 lost control and rolled his vehicle into the north ditch. No injuries were reported. Damages were est at $6,000.00 to his 2003 Saturn.

1-26-07        3:43pm  Deputy Pontius began an investigation of a domestic situation that occurred in the 800 block of 300th St, Ogden. Arrested for Domestic assault was Sara L. Sesker 21 of that address.

1-26-07        4:24pm  Jamie Larocca 50 of Boone turned himself into the Boone County Jail on a Boone County warrant, Contempt of Court, bond $400.00.

1-26-07        7:25pm  Greene County arrested a Christopher G. Sayre 29 of Boone on a Boone County warrant for probation revocation, bond $10,000.00 transported to the Boone County Jail.

1-26-07        11:08pm  Deputy Dominick assisted a Boone P.D. Officer with a vehicle accident at 216th and Quartz, was no personal injuries reported.

1-27-07        1:41pm  Sgt Hurley responded to a motorist assist at 220th and Highway 17. Turned out the operator was driving under suspension, arrested was Victoria D. Martin 20 of Marshalltown, for driving under suspension and no proof of insurance.

1-28-07        2:50pm  Deputy Elsberry responded to a complaint of a possible drunk driver all over the roadway at 30 mph south bound on Nature Rd, North of Boone. Vehicle was located a driver Jeffrey B. Varisco 41 of Altoona was arrested for O.W.I., and child endangerment, as he had two children  5 and 6 year olds in the vehicle with him.

1-29-07        2:04pm  Sgt Moore arrested a Christopher Miller 21 of Ogden on a violation of parole warrant, No Bond.

1-30-07        1:58pm  Sgt Moore arrested a Daniel P. Hapes 28 of Boone on a Story County Warrant, bond $1,000.00 for Contempt of Court.

1-31-07        3:58pm  Deputy Pontius responded to a complaint by an Ogden School Bus driver that he had a student on the Bus who was playing matches, and driver needed assistance with the uncooperative child.  Parent was called and child removed in the 1600 block of H Ave, Ogden.

1-31-07        5:45pm  Deputy Pontius investigated a single vehicle accident 3 miles West of Ames on Highway 30. Gregory K. Piklapp 26 of Boone was west bound when he lost control on the snow covered roadway and rolled his vehicle into the north ditch. Piklapp was taken to the Boone County Hospital by Ambulance with possible injuries. Damages to his 1999 Ford Explorer were est at $9,000.00.
