2-02-07 11:00am The Boone County Sheriff's Office received information from a Boone Resident on South Greene St, that he had received a letter in the mail from a company called Survey Absolute the Company claims to be from 2457 King George Ave Vancouver British Columbia. The Company letter states that you the recipient was picked to be a consumer reporter in this area and to report on companies such as Wal-Mart, GAP, and McDonald's. This letter also states you will be trained for a period and be paid $150.00 per hour, they give an advance cashiers check of $3,200.00, but want you to send $2,4480.00 back to them in the form of a money gram, after doing some research we have discovered that the $3,200.00 Cashiers check out of Tempe Arizona is a fraud, we called that bank and they informed us that the Cashiers check looks very similar to theirs and that they are a fraud and they are receiving complaints from Law Enforcement all over the Country at a rate of 3 or 4 a day. If any one should receive such a letter ether discard or turn into Local Law Enforcement.

2-02-07 7:59pm Deputy Elsberry investigated a car deer accident at L Ave and Highway 30. Michele R. Bailey 46 of Bonderant struck a deer causing under $500.00 in damages to her 2004 Chevy Van, no injuries were reported.
2-02-07 10:21pm Deputy Godzicki responded to a complaint of a vehicle in the median near 7 Oaks on Highway 30. Driver Wendy S. Jennings 30 of Ogden was arrested for O.W.I. 2nd Offense. No damages or injuries were reported.
2-03-07 12:16am 911 Operator received a complaint that a vehicle had ran a red light on Highway 30 and Story St, and the vehicle was west bound at a high rate of speed weaving in and out of traffic, Deputy Rohden and Godzicki were able to locate and stop the vehicle. Deputy Rohden arrested driver Jeremy L. Lehnhoff 29 of Grand Jct Iowa for driving while License Suspended, and O.W.I. 2nd Offense.
2-03-07 5:25pm Deputy Elsberry responded to a complaint of a stalled vehicle with several people in the vehicle on Highway 30 near 17. Deputy Located vehicle and called for assistance for the people, and removed vehicle.
2-04-07 7:22am Deputy Pontius responded to an alarm sounding at the United Community School elementary building, was a false alarm.
2-04-07 8:10pm 911 Operator took a complaint that individuals driving north of Boone on Nature Rd. observed what they described as a large fire ball falling from the sky, Deputies checked the area as the complainants were concerned that it could have been a plane. After finding nothing and checking with the National Weather service it was determined to have been a meteor, as the weather service was receiving such sightings State wide.
2-05-07 8:13am Deputy Pontius responded to a medical assist in the 1300 block of Nook Place, Boone. Female was transported to the Boone County Hospital after being found by co-workers on her kitchen floor.
2-05-07 2:53pm Deputy Elsberry arrested a Joshua Hobbs 24 who is already in the Boone County Jail. Hobbs was arrested on a new warrant for Probation revocation, bond $5,000.00.
2-06-07 5:17pm Deputy Pontius responded to a code blue medical assist at the Woodward Resource Center, Woodward, Everything was O.K. when the Deputy arrived.
2-07-07 6:03pm Deputy Pontius investigated a single vehicle accident in the 1800 block of 270th. Eric B. Whitted 25 of Boone lost control and went into the ditch. No injuries were reported, and under $500.00 damages to his 1999 Jeep. Whitted was cited for unsafe passing.
2-08-07 10:38am Sgt Hurley and Detective Kendall responded to a house fire at 2267 K Ave Woodward, Woodward Fire and Madrid Fire responded. House fire turned out to be contained to upstairs bedroom, no injuries were reported. Residents of the home Lois Sprott was home at the time of the fire.
2-08-07 1:07pm Sgt Hurley responded to a complaint of horses out on roadway on Old Highway 30 near the Daniel Boone Bait Shop. Horses rounded up and belong to Wilcoxon's of Boone.
2-07/08-2007 Tobacco buys were attempted at several location in the County, only 2 stores violated by selling tobacco to under age persons. Those locations were Casey's in Ogden--Jackie S. King 54 of Ogden was cited for providing tobacco to minor, and Hometown Food and Fuel in Ogden-- Karri E. Teichert 42 of Paton was cited for providing tobacco to a minor.
2-08-07 4:46pm Deputy Mitchell and Kendall responded to a single vehicle accident on Highway 169 and 290th St,, Ogden. Ogden Fire and first responders along with Boone County Ambulance and State Patrol Responded. There was a fire as the vehicle rolled into a Utility Pole. Injured was Darren D. Tromblay 38 of Ogden. State Patrol will complete the report.

2-09-07 1:15pm Sgt Hurley investigated a single vehicle accident 2.5 miles NW of Boone on L Ave. Kenneth E. DeVoll 61 of Pilot Mound was north bound when he slid out of control and backwards into the west ditch striking a tree. No injuries were reported, damages were est. at $1,400.00 to his 1993 Toyota. DeVoll was cited for failure to maintain control.
2-10-07 6:15am Deputy Pontius investigated a complaint of a deer struck on Highway 210 East of Woodward. Deb Gilbert 32 of Madrid struck a deer, and received under $1,000.00 in damages to her 2003 Chevy. No injuries were reported.

2-11-07 7:57am Deputy Pontius responded to a complaint of a swastika painted on a mail box in the 1100 block of Montana Rd, also profanity was was painted on signs and roadways on L Ave and E52. Some evidence was collected at one of the sites, investigation continuing.
2-11-07 3:34pm Polk County Arrested Max Gibson 24 of Ankeny on a Boone County Warrant for Probation revocation. Was transported to the Boone County Jail.
2-11-07 4:10pm 911 received a compliant of a personal injury accident on the Angus curves north of Perry on 144. Deputy was busy on prisoner transport and Perry P.D. Responded. Paper work will be completed by Deputy Elsberry. Single vehicle accident.
2-11-07 5:54pm Deputy Elsberry investigated a car deer accident on E57 1.5 miles west of Luther. Aydee Dedios-llamas 20 of Perry struck a deer causing $2,000.00 in damages to her 2002 Suzuki. No injuries were reported.
2-12-07 2:06am Deputy Dominick responded to a car deer accident inthe 1400 block of Quill Ave, Boone. Driver John McCormick 31 of Madrid struck a deer causing under $1,000.00 in damages to his 1991 Chevy Blazer, no injuries were reported.
2-12-07 6:10am Sgt Hurley investigated a single vehicle accident 1/4 mile South of Ogden on 220th, 1/2 east of G Ave. David Morris 29 of Boone was west bound when he lost control due to freezing mist on the roadway, struck an embankment and air bags deployed. No injuries were reported, damages were est. at $3,500.00 to his 1996 Ford Explorer.

Foose 31 of Perry was west bound when he lost control on the freezing mist and struck a DOT sign, knocking it over. No injuries were reported, damages were est. at $850.00 to his 1997 Dodge Intrepid.
2-12-07 6:55am Sgt Hurley investigated a a single vehicle accident 1/2 mile South of Ogden on 220th 1/2 mile east of G Ave. Adela Gomez 35 of Des Moines was west bound when she lost control due to the freezing mist on the roadway and struck a ditch embankment causing $7,000.00 in damages to her 1998 GMC Sierra Pick-up. No injuries were reported.

Loew 17 of Carroll was west bound and lost control due to freezing mist on the roadway, and rolled her vehicle into the north ditch. No injuries were reported, damages were est. at $1,500.00 to her 1994 Geo Tracker.
2-12-07 10:20am Sgt. Hurley began an investigation of the theft of a two wheel trailer. Gregory A. Mayton of Payton Iowa said that his trailer had a flat tire along highway 17 just south of the Hamilton County Line. He parked the trailer along the roadside and came back for it today and it was gone, he said that this happened 2 days ago. Investigation continuing.
2-13-07 12:24am Deputy Dominick investigated a single vehicle accident 3 miles east of Boone on Highway 30. Kathryn M. Wright 20 of Rosco Illinois was west bound when she lost control on the snow covered roadway and struck a DOT sign. No injuries were reported, damages were est. at $2,500.00 to her 1998 Dodge Neon. $200.00 to the sign.

2-13-07 10:15pm Deputy Middleton investigated a single vehicle accident 5 miles east of Boone in the 2000 block of 195th St. Joshua D. Price 21 of Boone was east bound when he dropped a wheel into the ditch as the road was covered and ditch of snow, he then rolled his vehicle into the ditch. No injuries were reported, damages were est. at $1,000.00 to his 1993 Ford Ranger.

Jones 49 of Ames was east bound when he lost control on the snow covered roadway and rolled his vehicle into the south ditch, no injuries were reported. Damages were est. at $1,000.00 to his 2002 Ford Ranger.
2-14-07 8:30am Deputy Mitchell responded to a complaint by family members that they had found their elderly father in his home and had apparently died over night. Responded to the 1500 block of T Ave, Boone.

2-14-07 3:32pm Detective Kendall responded to a complaint of trespassers on private property in the 900 block of Juneberry Rd, Boone. Turned out to be I.S.U. Students working on an Architect project, Property owner had warned ISU and students last fall about trespassing, and owner wants to pursue trespassing charges, investigation continuing.
2-15-07 2:47pm Deputy Elsberry responded to a complaint of a horse running loose on R27 2 miles North of E57. Owner of the horse was notified, Dean Morgan.
2-15-07 4:22pm Deputy Elsberry investigated a two vehicle accident 3 miles West of Gilbert on 150th St. Alexander J. Welsh 18 of Boone was west bound and attempted to pass another west bound vehicle in front of him, operated by Dillon Harris 17 of Ames. Harris had slowed and was making a left turn when he was struck by the Welsh vehicle. No injuries were reported, damages were est. at $750.00 to Welsh's 1990 Chevy Pick-up and $2,000.00 to Harris's 1996 Toyota.
2-15-07 4:32pm Detective Kendall and the Boxholm Fire Dept responded to an abandoned house fire on B Ave NW of Boxholm. Bengston's owners of the property have had a propane heater in the old house to keep pipes from freezing, fire dept believes there was a propane explosion that blew out windows and house off foundation. No injuries were reported.
2-16-07 10:34am Deputy Pontius responded a complaint of a trailer over turned in traffic in the 600 block of 216th. Robbie Flynn 36 of Grand Jct was pulling a small trailer with 3 calves when the trailer came unhitched and over turned. One calve was injured, but no persons were injured. The trailer received $400.00 in damages.
2-16-07 6:40pm Reports of vehicles going ino ditches around the county, no damages were reported, Highway 30 in the Erickson curves was the worst area.
2-16-07 7:54pm Deputy Elsberry and Dominick responded to a complaint of a Semi that had over turned at 105th and I Ave. Semi was loaded with feeder pigs. No injuries were reported. Driver was Charles Greenwood 49 of Beaver Utah.
2-17-07 12:19am Deputy Dominick and Rohden responded to 5910 West Lincoln way Ames on a complaint of a male individual attempting suicide. Individual was evaluated at Mary Greeley Hospital lin Ames and Doctors there said no committal was needed. The Individual was then arrested by Ames P.D. on an outstanding warrant out of Story County.
2-17-07 9:27am Deputy Elsberry responded to a Burglary alarm sounding at Kinzler Construction in the 2300 block of 230th St, Ames, was a false alarm.

2-17-07 5:38pm Deputy Pontius investigated a two vehicle accident 3 miles East of Boone at Highway 17 and E26. Jacob A. Clements 20 of Boone was east bound on E26, when he was unable to stop at the intersection of Highway 17 and slid through intersection and was struck by a north bound vehicle operated by Daniel D. Brumley 36 of Huxley. Clement was taken by ambulance to the Boone County Hospital. No other injuries were reported. Damages were est.at $2,500.00 to Clement's 1998 Pontiac, and $6,000.00 to Brumley's 1996 Ford Explorer. Also a stop sign was damaged worth $500.00 belonging to Boone County.
2-17-07 5:30pm 1:00am there were numerous reports of vehicles in the ditch due to icy road conditions throughout the County.
2-18-07 3:58am Deputy Rohden responded to a single vehicle accident 5 miles North of Perry on 290th. Amanda Christiansen 23 of Perry was west bound on 290th when she lost control in snow drifts and rolled her vehicle into the north ditch. A passenger Kandy Alborn had her leg pinned under the vehicle, an air ambulance was dispatched and transported her to Methodist in Des Moines. Boone County Ambulance and Rippey fire responded to the scene.
2-18-07 1:25pm Sgt Hurley responded to a medical assist with a motorist at Lamb lane and 198th Boone. Female was having difficulty breathing and light headed. Ambulance and Boone Fire responded.
2-18-07 2:04pm Sgt Hurley responded to a house fire at 674 V Ave Boone, Boone fire responded, and search and rescue started out the Air trailer. Home belongs to David Hartman of that address, no injuries were reported. Small fire contained to closet.
2-19-07 1:03am Deputy Middleton responded to 313 I Ave Pilot Mound on a complaint that a stove pipe had fallen out of the side of the home and caught fire to a window frame but had extinguished itself. Owner wanted assistance placing the stove pipe back into wall. Pilot Mound fire responded to check for further possible damages in attic ect. Hone owner Rodger Browning of that address.
2-19-07 11:36am Guthrie County Sheriff's Office contacted Boone County as they had arrested a Richard E. Deubel Jr. 20 of Bagley on a Boone County warrant for probation revocation, original charge of Burglary 3rd, bond $15,000.00.
2-19-07 12:30pm Sgt Hurley responded to the Woodward Academy north of Woodward on a complaint that a client had made threats toward another client. Report was started, no charges at this time.

2-21-07 8:14pm Deputy Rohden responded to a complaint of a deer hit on Clover Ave, 1 mile north of Highway 144. Kim Holcomb 41 of Perry struck a deer causing under $1,000.00 in damages to her 2000 Pontiac, no injuries were reported.
2-22-07 9:42pm Deputy Elsberry responded to a complaint that there was a prowler in he area of the 2200 block of Owl Ave, Woodward, Deputy looked over the area and could not locate anyone, nor any evidence of anyone in the area.
2-23-07 1:29pm Deputy Pontius investigated a dog bite complaint of a 12 year old child who was bitten by the family dog at 371 335th St, Perry. Child required several stitches to his chin.
2-24-07 6:37am Sgt Hurley responded to an alarm sounding at 2316 259th St, Key holder was enroot, but never showed up, deputy waited 45 minutes. Deputy then secured the area.
2-24-07 3:36pm Deputy Pontius investigated a two vehicle accident at 160th and R Ave, Boone. Junior J. Reineke 49 of Boone was north bound on R Ave, when another east bound vehicle operated by Warren Kleinendorst 51 of Boone failed to yeild the right of way and was struck by the Reineke vehicle. Injured was a passenger in the Kleinendorst vehicle, Mony R. Kleinendorst 52 of Boone, she was taken to the Boone County Hospital with serious injuries. and later transported to Iowa Methodist in Des Moines. Damages were est. at $1,000.00 to Reineke's 1988 Dodge Pick-up and $4,000.00 to Kleinendorst's 1998 Chevy Lumina. Kleinendorst died of her injuries in Des Moines.
2-24-07 9:26pm Deputy Pontius arrested a drunk driver who had been stuck in the snow in the 300 block of S. Story, Boone. Arrested was William G. McBride 47 of Boone, charge with O.W.I. 1st, Offense.
2-26-07 6:19am Sgt Hurley responded to a domestic situation in the 1600 block of 304th St, Madrid. No charges filed at this time.
2-26-07 11:19am Ogden Street Dept notified our Office that they had a Street Dept vehicle moving snow and the operator lost control on the ice and slid into several Mail Boxes at 216th and Old 30. Post Office notified.
2-26-07 11:40am Sgt Hurley responded to a 911 hang up call from 1192 166th Dr, Boone, turned out to be a malfunctioning telephone.
2-26-07 10:29pm Sheriff's Office responded to Pottawattamie County to pick-up a prisoner Brandon F. Elliott 25 of Bellevue Nebraska. Elliott is wanted on a Boone County warrant, for possession of marijuana, bond $1,000.00. Arrested in Council Bluffs.
2-27-07 2:39am Deputy Rohden responded to the Woodward Resource Center as a State Employee had accidentally scratched a parked vehicle in the parking lot. State needed paper work to pay for the minor damages to the parked vehicle. This occurred when the state employee opened the car door and dinged the parked vehicle.
2-27-07 1:41pm Sgt Hurley responded to Trailer home home fire at 1499 300th St, Woodward. Ogden Fire responded, only minor damages were reported, no injuries. Owner Dwight Holllingsworth
2-28-07 6:56am Deputy Pontius responded to a complaint of a vehicle in the ditch on Highway 169 south of Ogden. When arriving to that scene there was a head on accident near the vehicle in the ditch. At this time there is one fatality and two injured. Accident is still under investigation. Ogden Fire and First Responders are on scene, and the County medical examiner has been dispatched. Details of the accident, show that Guy F. Stalter 80 of Ogden was south bound on Highway 169 south of Ogden when he crossed the Center line due to snow covered roadways and struck a north bound vehicle operated by Regina V. Lloyd 54 of Linden Iowa. Stalters Passenger 77 year old Lois M. Stalter died of her injuries at the scene, Guy Stalter was taken by Ambulance to the Boone County Hospital where he was later Air Lifted to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Lloyd was taken to the Boone County Hospital with injures. Damages were est at $7,000.00 to Stalter's 2000 Oldsmobile, and $10,000.00 to Llod's 2002 Chevy Pick-up.

2-28-07 1:10pm Deputy Mitchell responded to a call of a vehicle in the ditch south of Luther on Highway 17, Went into ditch due to blowing snow. No injuries or damages reported.
2-28-07 3:12pm Deputy Elsberry responded to a call of a vehicle that had slid on slush and went into the ditch 8 miles north of Boone on R27. No damages or injuries were reported.
