7-01-08        Sgt. Kendall and Sanitation officer Mike Salati investigated a complaint of garbage dumped at the Old Ogden dump east of Ogden on May 6th. That investigation resulted in the arrest of Andrew R. Bircher 24 of Ogden, and Bryant A. Kirton 39 of Ogden, both charged with illegal dumping, Iowa code 455B 307A punishable by up to $1,000.00 in fines a simple misdemeanor, both cited and released. This investigation also revealed that the two acted separately in the same location.

7-01-08        9:36pm  Deputy Hoffman investigated a car deer accident in the 2300 block of D Ave. Tauwana R. Laue 29 of Grand Jct was north bound when she struck in a deer on the roadway, causing $3,000.00 in damages to her 1992 Nisson. No injuries were reported.

7-02-08        5:06pm  Deputy Haase responded to an alarm sounding at the Roto Rooter Business in the 2200 block of 229th Lace, Boone. Was a false alarm.

7-02-08        9:03pm Ames P.D. notified Boone County that they had arrested a Jeremiah Smith 26 of Ames on a Boone County warrant and was going to be held in the Story County Jail, Bond $5,000.00. Being held in Story County as they also have charges.

7-02-08        9:55pm  Polk County Sheriff's Office notified Boone County that they had arrested a Courtney J. Baumgartner 33 of Des Moines on a Boone County warrant, our bond $500.00, Polk County also has charges and will be holding.

7-02-08        10:10pm  Deputy Hoffman responded to a complaint of people shooting off fire works on 229th near storage units, in West Ames. No one was found.

7-03-08        9:09am  Deputy Haase responded to a call that a woman said that she had observed what she described as a baby cougar near the power plant by Madrid. DNR officer also responded, nothing was located when they arrived.

7-03-08        4:33pm  Deputy Godzicki responded to a call of a 5 year old that had fallen and was bleeding from nose. When Deputy arrived he began CPR and Life Flight was dispatched. The child 5 year old Caleb P. Beckman was pronounced dead at the scene by the Boone County Medical examiner. Autopsy was completed by the DCI on Friday the 4th, Autopsy revealed that Caleb had been shot by a small caliber firearm. After further investigation and assistance from the DCI, the conclusion of the investigation showed that 5 year old Caleb was accidentally shot by his 11 year old brother with a 22 rifle. Reports will be handed over to the County Attorney.

7-03-08        11:45pm  Deputy Hoffman and Zeutenhorst broke up an underage alcohol party at 1555 Magnolia Rd Boone. Charged with Providing Alcohol to under age was Cale A. Henning 21 of Boone. The following were charged with under age possession of alcohol. Joel E. Mart 18 of Johnston, Nicole R. McCabe 19 of  Boone, Brandon J. Wright 19 of Boone, Kathryn A. Stout 18 of  Ankeny, Jennifer A. Canova 18 of Ankeny, Eric R. Burt 18 of Ogden, Joshua A. Langworthy 19 of Granger, Elizabeth A. Kelly 19 of Boone, Nichole M. Orourke 20 of Boone,  and Nicholas M. Harrison 18 of Paton. Additional charges Paul M. Branaman  18 of Boone fled the scene and was charged with Interference with official acts. Brittany Scheuerman 16 of Boxholm possession of alcohol under the legal age, also same charges on Trent J. Gutknecht 17 of Boone, and Hailey Severson 15 of Boone.

7-05-08        10:30am  Deputy Pontius investigated a complaint that items were stolen from Lynch Auction Service by the Story County line on Y Ave. Taken was tools tires and other items . Investigation continuing.

7-05-08        1:30pm Deputy Pontius took a complaint from a McIntyre couple from that reported that they were camping the night before on private property in the 500 block of Juniper Rd, Pilot Mound, around 3am, two men came to their camp site and the husband was assaulted. He was treated at the Boone County Hospital for injuries in that assault. Investigation continuing.

7-05-08        5:24pm  Deputy Godzicki investigated a single vehicle accident 1 mile north of Madrid on Highway 17. Kiera D. Archer 17 of Luther was south bound when she lost control, crossed traffic and rolled her vehicle into the east ditch. She was airlifted to a Iowa Methodist treated and released, she was charged with failure to maintain control, other charges pending.

7-05-08        7:11pm  Deputy Wingate and K-9 unit responded to Ames to assist Ames P.D. with tracking an individual who had fled from a 2 story Balconey, by jumping and running  in the 2100 block of Oakwood.

7-05-08        9:11pm  Deputy Zeutenhorst responded to an alarm sounding at the Van Wall Equipment building east of Madrid., was a false alarm.

7-06-08        8:35am Deputy Pontius responded to a complaint of a vehicle that was parked on X Ave, near the railroad tracks. Vehicle was a red Chevy Pick-up which was reported stolen out of Webster County, Webster County had  a Deputy respond to process the vehicle.

7-07-08        1:53am  Deputy Hoffman made a traffic stop in the 300 block of Clover, Perry. Driver Ronald Moulder 51 of Perry was charged with operating without registration, failure to have a valid License, and  improper use of registration.

7-07-08        4:41am Deputy Wingate investigated a car-raccoon accident on Highway 30 near Seven Oaks. Lorelei A.Stockman 52 of Ogden, struck a raccoon in traffic, causing $1,500.00 in damages to her 2008 Toyota. No injuries were reported.

7-07-08       8:06am  Deputy Pontius responded to an ambulance assist in the 400 block of Walnut St, Ogden.

7-07-08        9:09am  Deputy Pontius responded to a complaint by Ogden Municipal Utilities that someone had shot out windows to the north side of their water pump house in the 1100 block of 220th, also a transformer owned by Midland power had been damaged. Damages were est. at $1,700.00 to the City of Ogden's property not sure of the damages to Midland Powers Transformer at this time.

7-07-08        2:44pm Deputy Haase responded to a complaint that road signs had been stolen from the area of the new bike trail near Madrid. Signs were for construction. Construction Co. will gather an inventory of what is missing in the next couple of days.

7-07-08        5:34pm  Sgt. Hurley responded toward the Boxholm area, Semi Operator had called to report that his Semi and trailer had been blown over in the wind north of Boxholm. Accident related to weather had taken place in Webster County, who responded as well and took the report. Boxholm fire responded.

7-07-08        6:22pm  Deputy Haase responded to an alarm sounding at the MG Biologics building in west Ames. Was a false alarm.

7-07-08        7:13pm  Deputy Hoffman made a traffic stop in the at Highway 30 and 222nd Dr. Driver David M. Lee 23 of Ogden was arrested for O.W.I. 1st and failure to yeild upon entering a through highway.

7-08-08        12:38am  Deputy Wingate made a traffic stop on Highway 210 west of the Des Moines river bridge. Driver Robert C. Taylor 23 of Ames was arrested for driving while license suspended in Illinois and barred in Iowa.

7-08-08        8:08pm  Deputy Zuetenhorst responded to a complaint of a cat that had bitten a woman at 1831 330th Madrid. The cat owner Karen Mahoney of Madrid was notified, and cat had been vaccinated.

7-09-08        12:34am  Deputy Zuetenhorst responded to a complaint of wire being stolen from a building in Fraser at 991 157th St. Investigation continuing.

7-09-08        2:34pm  Deputy Haase investigated a car-deer accident 3 miles West of Luther on E57. Kerston A. Seeger 33 of Boone was east bound when she struck a dee rin the roadway, causing $1,500.00 in damages to her 2002 Toyota Camry, no injuries were reported.

7-09-08        3:44pm  Sgt. Hurley investigated a two vehicle accident 1.5 miles East of Madrid on 330th. Larry J. Snider 68 of Madrid was west bound when he slowed then stopped for construction signs on the roadway, another west bound vehicle did not slow and attempted to swerve and struck the back of the Snider vehicle, the second vehicle was operated by Dalton W. Anderson 17 of Boone. No injuries were reported, damages were est. at $1,000.00 to Snider's 2000 Buick, and $1,500.00 to Anderson's 1995 Grand Am. Anderson was cited for failure to maintain control.

7-10-08       9:25 p.m. Deputy Godzicki arrested April Messer, 36 of Huxley for public intoxication at the Law Enforcement Center.  Messer turned herself in for warrants and was arrested for intoxication at that time.

7-10-08      11:03 p.m.   Deputy Zuetenhorst responded to 1100 blk. of 310th st for a horse on the road.  The owner was found and the horse was retrieved.

7-10-08      11:31 p.m.  Deputy Wingate arrested Joshua Waddy, 23 of Boone for O.W.I. 2nd, driving while suspended, no insurance, speed and eluding following a chase in the area of Cedar Street and 22nd Street in Boone.

7-11-08      8:22am  Deputy Pontius responded to a complaint of two mail boxes vandalized in the 500 block of D Ave, Boxholm.

7-11-08        8:09pm  Deputy Godzicki assisted a stalled motorist at E26 and Highway 169.

7-12-08        1:44am  Deputy Zuetenhorst responded to an incomplete 911 to 303 2nd St. Luther, turned out to be phone malfunction, everything was O.K. at the residence. 

7-12-08        4:58pm Deputy Spencer responded to the Ledges State Park on a complaint of a possible intoxicated person being very disruptive in the camp site areas. Individual was found and arrested for public intoxication, arrested was Joshua E. Gayschet 30 of Springfield Missouri.

7-12-08        8:34pm Hamilton County arrested a Jeff Carter 41 of Boone on a Bone County warrant in Hamilton County. Carter was transported to the Boone County line were he was transferred to a Boone County Deputy to be taken to the Boone County Jail. Parle violation on drug charges no bond.

7-13-08        1:11am Deputy Hoffman made a traffic stop in the 2100 block of Highway 169. Driver Reginal R. Davis 27 of Des Moines was charged with driving while Lisence Suspended.

7-13-08        5:04am  Deputy Wingate responded to an ambulance assist at 330 F Ave, Boxholm.

7-13-08        9:19pm  Deputy Haase investigated a car-deer accident 7 miles NE of Boone on Highway 17. Connie K. Thielen 34 of Fort Dodge was north bound when she struck a deer in traffic causing $1,500.00 in damages to her 2001 Chevy Venture. No injuries were reported.

7-13-08         10:51pm  Deputy Hoffman came across a motorist assist and the process discovered that the driver Alisa K. Smith 26 of Des Moines was suspended, she was charged for that violation.

7-14-08        7:39am  Deputy Haase responded to Boxholm to assist with an Ambulance call to Beech St.

7-14-08        7:51pm  Sgt. Hurley responded to a call of a 2 year old who had fallen into a pool in the 600 block of West Oak. The 2 year old was not breathing and CPR was in progress, Life flight was called to the scene. Child appeared stable and was taken by ground ambulance to the Boone County Hospital

7-15-08        5:14am  Deputy Hoffman responded to the Twister Lounge in Pilot Mound, owner reported that the business had been broken into over night, investigation continuing back door of business had been pried open, and only items messed with int he building was two gaming machines. Owner believed that there was 5-600 hundred in cach taken from the 2 machines.

7-15-08        5:09pm  Deputy Godzicki investigated a single vehicle roll-over 4 miles NE of Ogden on 170th. Jacob A. Nelson 16 of Pilot Mound was west bound on 170th when he tried to stop and turn north onto I Ave, lost control and rolled his vehicle into the NW corner of the intersection ditch. No injuries were reported, damages were est. at $1,000.00 to his 1967 Ford Pick-up.

7-15-08        6:49pm  Sgt. Hurley investigated a two vehicle accident at the intersection of 190th and Q Ave, 1 mile east of Boone. Sarah A. Linahon 19 of Ames was east bound and turned left or north onto Q, then decided to to re-enter 190th , and then was struck by another east bound vehicle operated by Douglas G. Tenhaeff 37 of Madrid. No injuries were reported, damages were est. at $7,000.00 to Linahon's 2004 Pontiac, and $4,000.00 to Tenhaeff's 2001 Chevy Truck. Linahon was cited for failure to yield.

7-15-08        8:19pm  Deputy Zuetenhorst responded to a complaint of a cow out on the roadway on Highway 17 and 130th. Owner Bill Jennings was notified.

7-16-08        2:12am  Deputy Hoffman while on patrol found two individuals walking along the roadway in the 800 block of 130th. Both were intoxicated, and arrested for public intoxication. Arrested was Blane A. Sward 28 of Boone, and Brandon J. Ross 33 of McCune Kansas.

7-16-08        3:38pm  Deputy Godzicki responded to a domestic situation on an argument over a cell phone in the 1900 of Y Ave, Kelley. The daughter was injured by placing her arm through a window. She was treated. No arrests made.

7-16-08        8:28pm  Deputy Zuetenhorst assisted a stalled motorist with a flat tire at 140 mile marker of Highway 30.

7-16-08        9:20pm  Deputy Zuetenhorst made a traffic stop in the 1500 block of Highway 30. Driver James Powell 53 of  Perry was arrested for O.W.I.1st possession of   drug paraparnilia, and open container of alcohol. Passenger Susan Powell 45 of Perry was cited for open container.

7-17-08        2:37pm  Deputy Pontius assisted the Boone Area Humane Society on retrieving several goats (30) from a pasture area at 200th and B Ave Beaver. The Goats were malnourished and needed immediate attention, owner could not be located. investigation continuing.

7-18-08        1:27am  Deputy Wingate made a traffic stop at 6th and Kennedy in Madrid. Driver Rodney J. Hass 44 of Madrid was arrested for O.W.I. 2nd Offense.

7-18-08        5:28pm  Deputy Hoffman responded to a complaint of divider to a horse trailer was missing out of a horse trailer in the 1400 block of V Ave. Was determined that a neighbor had taken it and said that he would replace it or pay for it.

7-18-08        6:27pm  Deputy Naeve cited a Michael W. Barton 32 of Cassville Missouri at the Ledges Park for open container in a vehicle.

7-18-08        8:33pm  Deputy Naeve made a traffic stop at the Ledges State park, driver Stacey S. Maynard 48 of Ames was cited for no registration and no proof of insurance.

7-19-08        12:04am  Deputy Hoffman located a golf cart in the ditch in the 2200 block of X Ave.

7-19-08        5:14am  Deputy Wingate investigated a car deer accident on R21 4 miles north of Boone. Darwin L. Seehusen 39 of Fort Dodge was south bound when he struck a deer in the roadway, causing $1,000.00 in damages to his 1998 Oldsmobile. No injuries were reported.

7-19-08        4:54pm Deputy Pontius arrested a Cody Medearis 19 of Boone for disorderly conduct at the Boone County Sheriff's Office.Medearis was in the Lobby to visit an inmate was was disorderly.

7-19-08        5:38pm  Deputy Haase responded to the 100 block of 220th to assist an ambulance with an individual having a seizure in a private vehicle.

7-19-08        9:30pm  Deputy Hoffman investigated a single vehicle accident in the 300 block of Highway 17. Donald Bell 8 1of Omaha Nebraska was south bound when he struck a cow on the roadway, no injuries were reported,  cow ran off into a corn field. Damages were est.at $2,000.00 to Bell's 2007 Chrysler.

7-20-08        3:49pm  Deputy Haase responded to a domestic situation at 1893 Rose Rd, Madrid. Greg E. Davis 37 of that address, was arrested for Domestic assault.

7-20-08        7:19pm  Deputy Haase responded to a building alarm at Kinzler Construction, was a false alarm.

7-21-08        3:23am  Tree knocked out a power line in the 2100 block of QM Ave, Madrid. Power Company dispatched. This was a result of high winds and thunderstorm that came through the southern part of Boone County over night.

7-21-08        7:18pm  Deputy Zeutenhorst responded to a complaint of a boat that was sunk under the wagon wheel bridge, no one was around the boat. The Boat will be removed by search and rescue this afternoon.

7-21-08        10:05pm  Deputy Hoffman investigated a single vehicle accident in the 1700 block of Highway 17. James M. Vandorn 29 of Woodward was south bound when he struck a deer in traffic, causing $1,000.00 in damages to his 2003 Chevy. No injuries were reported.

7-22-08        11:15am  Deputy Pontius responded to a two vehicle accident at Highway 169 North and Highway 30 West of Ogden. State Patrol covered the accident.

7-22-08        11:17am Ogden P.D. covered a call in the County Just East of Ogden , 2 RAGBRI Cyclists collided on old 30. Ambulance was dispatched.

7-22-08        5:43pm  Deputy Godzicki responded to Ogden to assist an Ogden Officer with an Individual who had assaulted a young girl in front of Clarks Food Mart. Arrested for Assault was Joseph P. Barker 32 of Overland Park Kansas.

7-22-08        8:47pm  Deputy Godzicki responded to a complaint in the 1200 block of 216th that several bicyclists were in front of their home with blaring music, Deputy located and sent them on their way.

7-23-08        10:09am  Deputy Pontius responded to the 1900 block of 210th, Boone, owner of that mail box had discovered some type of bomb in his mail box. It was a potato bomb. Evidence collected and Post Office informed. Investigation continuing.

7-23-08        7:35pm  Sgt. Hurley investigated a car-deer accident 4 miles NE of Ogden. Nathaniel W. Morgan 31 of Boone struck a deer on 170th. No injuries were reported, damages were est.at $1,200.00 to a 2000 Chevy Venture.

7-23-08        9:09pm  Deputy Godzicki responded to an ambulance assist at the YMCA Camp north of Boone. Teenager was having difficulty breathing.

7-24-08        1:54am  Deputy Wingate made a traffic stop on the Erickson curves on Highway 30. Driver Austin J. Minnehan 22 of Paton was arrested for O.W.I. 1st Offense.

7-24-08        5:03pm  Sgt. Hurley responded to a complaint of small white car with elderly female driver east bound in the west bound of Highway 30 near Highway 17 east of Boone. Story County also responded. No one located the vehicle.

7-24-08        7:07pm  Sgt. Hurley responded to a assist the Boone Police on a call of a suicidal female with a gun in the 300 block of 2nd St, Boone. No weapon was located and female a Genesis Client was taken to the Boone County Hospital for evaluation.

7-24-08        7:24pm  Sgt. Hurley responded to an unattended death in the 2200 block of 120th Story City. County medical examiner was called to the scene. Appears to have been of natural causes.

7-24-08        10:56pm  Deputy Hoffman made a traffic stop in the 600 block for Highway 30, Ogden. Vehicle was speeding. After Deputy approached the vehicle he could smell marijuana burning. Arrested were the following. Tanner L. Dale 22 of Bloomington Minn., Max S. Allum 19 of Bloomington Minn. both for possession of marijuana, a third person Jonathan A. Harper 22 of Bloomington Minn. was arrested for possession of drug paraparnilia.

7-25-08        5:57am  Deputy Wingate responded to a complaint of a domestic situation in the 500 block of Kale Rd. No arrests made.

7-25-08        9:54pm  Deputy Hoffman investigated a car-deer accident in the 1900 block of Highway 210, Madrid. Jeanie Mallory 43 of Madrid was west bound when she struck a deer in traffic, causing $3,000.00 in damages to her 1996 Nissan. No injuries were reported.

7-25-08        11:30pm  Deputy Hoffman made atraffic stop in the 800 block of Y Ave. Driver Antonia Flores 27 of Dalton Georgia had several warrants out of Georgia on various traffic offences, but they will not extradite. Flores was arrested for O.W.I. 1st, no drivers license and failure to display registration.

7-26-08        12:42am  Deputy Wingate responded to an ambulance assist in the 800 block of Kale Rd.

7-26-08        9:47pm  Deputy Zeutenhorst made a traffic stop on P70 and 105th. Driver Roger Dodson 48 of Dayton Iowa, was arrested for O.W.I. 1st, and open container.

7-26-08        11:21pm  Deputy Hoffman responded to an ambulance assist int he 1200 block of 198th Rd.

7-27-08        12:56am  Deputy Hoffman made a traffic stop in the 2200 block of Highway 30. Passenger Tasha N. Lundberg 18 of Boone,  was cited for possession of alcohol under the legal age.

7-27-08        4:20pm  David Anderson 57 of Boone was driving on Noble Lynx Rd, when the storm going through had caused a tree to fall onto his vehicle in traffic.  No injuries were reported.  There were several trees reported blown over and heavy rain. Power outages were also reported throughout the County. Damages were est. at $5,000.00 to Anderson's 2004 Ford Escape.

7-28-08        7:33am Deputy Pontius assisted a ambulance with an medical situation in the 1900 block of 340th Madrid.

7-28-08        10:22am  Chief Deputy Elsberry arrested Robert O. Thompson 21 of Boone on 2 Boone County warrants 1 st warrant for failure to appear, bond $500.00, 2nd warrant for failure to appear, 30 days. Thompson was at the Sheriff's Office to see his probation when arrest was made.

7-29-08        9:09am A complainant from Perry reported that he was chasing a vehicle that he claims had attempted to run him off the road, complainant said that he was at 310th and K Ave, north of Perry. Deputy Pontius confronted the vehicles on Magnolia Rd,  and the chase started in the 1600 block of Magnolia Rd north bound until they reached 250th and proceeded west bound and then back south on L Ave. By this time several Law Enforcement agencies were dispatched to assist the Boone County Deputies. At one point the suspect vehicle struck a Boone County Sheriff's Vehicle and avoided stop sticks at another location before he was boxed in by 2 Boone County Sheriff's Patrol units 1/2 mile north of Highway 144 on  P54 in Boone County. Other Law Enforcement agencies responding included the State Patrol, Dallas County Sheriff's Office, Greene County Sheriff's Office, Ogden Police Dept, and Perry Police Dept. 2 Boone County Patrol units received damages, but no one was injured. Suspect identified as Fermin Enriquez Jaimes 30 of Perry. State Patrol will complete the accident report. Charges against  Jaimes include aggravated eluding and  2 charges of aggravated assault on a peace officer, and several other traffic violations. INS has also began an investigation.

Per the Boone County Attorney's Office there will not be any video released as there is a continued investigation.

An arrest without disposition is not an indication of guilt.

7-30-08        3:59pm  911 Communications received a call of a tractor that had gone accross the roadway on P Ave without a driver and into a field. Sgt. Hurley responded, when arrived just north of Boone on PAve, found that a Grant Carlson had also witnessed the event and ran out into the field and retrieved the tractor. Tractor belonged to Ted Grabau who had field the tractor and started it, did not realize it was in gear and tractor took off. No one was injured and no reported damages.

7-30-08       6:48pm  Deputy  Haase investigated a single vehicle rol-over on J Ave 7 miles SE of Ogden. Kalen F. Thrane 17 of Boone was north bound on J Ave pulling a trailer, when he lost control and rolled the vehicle and trailer into the east ditch. No injuries were reported. Damages were est. at $8,000.00 to a 2003 Toyota Pick-up, trailer and lawn mower.

7-30-08        9:50pm  Deputy Hoffman made a traffic stop in the 2200 block of E26. Passenger was charged with possession of Marijuana, Johanthan L. Moore 23 of Ames was charged.

7-31-08        11:12pm  Deputy Hoffman made a traffic stop in the 1200 block of W Ave, Ames. Driver Adam W. Ellis 18 of Ames was charged with possession of alcohol under the legal age. A passenger Alyx R. Burt 15 of Ames was charged with possession of marijuana, she was released to her parents.
